Great product! Fast cool quiet and fantastic customer service. . I have three CalDigit hard drives, the VR Mini 2TB being one of them, and all of them are cool-running, quiet, dependable and very fast. CalDigit products are beyond compare in my opinion, and so are their people. I've called with questions, and customer service is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. BTW, I bought this drive with a promotion that included this drive, plus at no extra cost, a second 1 TV AV drive w/carrying case. I don't know if it's still being offered that way, but check the CalDigit store before buying, because you might be able to still get that deal. They offer free shipping, too.

I'm not sure what my mom and aunts do with it...I think they just wanted them since they thought it was cute and thought it would be fun to collect...LOL

Great product easy to install in use . We are using the ISCSI target and the direction were great. I am getting over 100 MB/sec read and write with Jumbo frames. I could not be more happy with this product. 4 WD 7200RPM 500 GB drives are being used.

Quiet and fast enough . Had a Thecus 5200 Pro. Sounded like a jet engine and had two drives go bad in 2.5 years. I think they were too hot. The Qnap is whisper quiet and seems to be more responsive than the Thecus. Only time will tell about reliability

Looks neat works well though buyers are paying a premium... . As with just about anything NASCAR related, buyers of this item are obviously paying a bit of a premium for this item (when compared to other flash drives), though in reality the price of this item isn't bad at all given the amount of memory provided.

The item details mention that buyers get bonus videos and other fan materials that are preloaded on this device and that is true, though I must admit to being a bit concerned about receiving a device like this with information (of just about any kind) already on it. There have been more than a few known instances of devices like this coming with data on them that was unfortunately corrupted or compromised with a virus prior to being packaged and shipped. My own personal preference would be that a device like this is shipped clean (with no data on it), though I appreciate the thought and effort to provide added value by including the fan materials that were preloaded here. Of course, as hoped for and expected, no viruses or other malware were found on this device when it was received new in the package, though that inspires one more thought when it comes to these types of devices: be wary of buying such devices used as you may find that the previous user's antivirus software isn't as thorough as it should be. For the few dollars you might save buying used, you could be inviting a lot of problems and costs for cleaning your system. (Note, I'm not trying to imply that anyone selling one of these devices used is going to knowingly sell it with malware on it, I'm just trying to remind buyers to be cautious as your system and the data on it is likely quite valuable to you.)

One concern I had in advance, dating back to when I was originally hunting for a flash drive that supported the feature, was whether or not this device would be ReadyBoost capable. I'm happy to report that it is, as I'm currently running the device for just such purposes (leaving it hanging on the side of the laptop I use as my primary computer).

While the device looks cool just hanging there, it's also neat to see the tail lights flashing as the device is being accessed.

Could I use another flash drive instead of this one? Sure, I did in the past (before receiving this one after ordering it). There was nothing wrong with that drive, but as part of NASCAR nation, well, I do like being able to show my allegiance to one of my favorite drivers.

NASCAR FLASH DRIVE . Fast delivery, great product. Tail lights even light up. Had pictures of Gordon on the flash drive as well. Love it.

As expexted . I found this product to perform as expected and found the blinking tail lights during down and up loads to be a nice addition.

Fun teacher's gift . Received propmtly. Perfect end of year gift for a Jeff Gordon fan of a teacher.

reliable . I bought this one from Sam's club for $40 after a retractable verbatim flash drive stopped working for me. I feel like the Toshiba is a much more reliable product/brand and I have had it a while now without any problems. Even though the cap is probably going to get lost pretty soon I feel like the reason my other flash drive stopped working is because the moving parts of the retractable eventually stopped making connection with the usb port with wear and constant use. I really don't want to run the risk of losing the work I have saved and carrying disks back and forth from school, library, home, and work just isn't an option. It is very compact and small (read the dimensions in the description) so in order to keep up with the flash drive I put a small key ring through the body. The up side to the small thin size of my new drive is that it fits when other usb ports crowded around the one free port at the library wouldn't take my old flash drive . A lot of people say they don't need 16gb but as soon as you have it you find a use for the space. I store all my music, audio lectures from the entire quarter, textbooks and fluff reading material, pictures, and more. I am very happy with the Toshiba.

Great for the price . Obviously, a 16GB flash drive for under $40 is quite inexpensive. At first it doesn't appear to have an indicator light, but a little green light DOES appear when it's in use. The cap fits neatly on the back. I haven't had any problems yet. It's a bit slow yet manageable, but for the price, who cares.

Works great. . Neat little thing.
I use it to store personal data as well as to transfer games from my PC to my PS3.

Toshiba USB 2.0 Flash Drive Opinions
Just O.K. . The current version of this drive (purchased 2/2011) comes with no software and has no activity indicator light. The blister pack is difficult to open; get out your box cutter and start hacking away, being careful not to slice yourself. Performance is adequate. All in all, very run-of-the-mill and a big letdown from a company like Toshiba.

Through the washer and dryer and it still lives! . I can't tell you how many times I have left a USB drive in the pocket of my jeans and accidently let it go for the wash and dry. Well, it just happened again. It was found scratched up but still intact. I placed it in my server and immediately ran a diagnostic on it to find to my astonishment that the device was still fully functional! I'm not telling people to go out and buy it and toss it in the washer, and it may just have been a fluke, but the fact does exist that device survived an ordeal that occurs to many people on a regular basis, without the loss or manipulation a single binary bit of data.

Cons Review

Great little flash drive but security software is poor . I have the 8GB model and files transfer to it very fast and easily. However, be aware that if you want to secure it with a password you'll have some problems. First of all, the security software is very difficult to locate on Toshiba's web sites. Secondly, once installed it does not work - at least on an XP operating system. I even downloaded a manual for installing the software and, after trying to find it, and explicitly following their instructions - no luck. I also have a Scandisk flash drive and the software is embedded within it and it works perfectly. My suggestion is if you want security protection for the flash drive get a Scandisk.

Ultra compact super light carry everywhere in pocket . I had several 2.5" External HDD in use transferring music and movies among brothers. While 2.5" was more convenient than 3.5" eliminating to carry the A/C Adapter, 2.5" HDD was not easily pocketable to carry around. This 1.8" External HDD is perfect! I can easily carry this with me and it's light enough that it doesn't bother me at all.
I was comparing with Samsung 120GB S1 on the 1.8" solution and finally decided on this Xigmatek 60GB unit for 2 main reasons.

1) COST. much lower investment for my use to transfer files from point A to point B. $40 vs $118. I could have bought 3 x 60gb (180gb) for same price of one 120gb.

2) STYLE. This Xigmatek Lighter has a design theme of a cigarette lighter. It's much more appealing to me. Built quality is acceptable, however there's still room to improve.

Overall, a very nice carry everywhere unit. I ended up buying a 2nd one for my girlfriend.

Great for Wii and general storage . I bought this drive for my Wii to play movies on the usb drive. I ended up playing my backups of Wii games off of this, it has worked flawlessly. I have and will continue to recommend this product for easy drag and drop storage that is super portable.

Great drive. Small in size big on storage! . Purchased this drive to go along with a Kenwood MP3 Car Receiver. It works great, and I now have plenty of storage for all my music at high resolutions.

The only hitch before being able to use it with the Kenwood was it's NTFS file system from the factory. The Kenwood requires Fat16 or Fat32. Formatting any USB device larger than 32G using XP requires additional software. I used swissknife with no problems, and it took seconds to do. (Using the command prompt and/or XP's built-in format option won't work.)

The packaging was well done, and the drive comes with a cable and nice soft case. More than can be said of other external drives I've purchased in the past.

This unit can be found cheaper than $59, so look around. At $59 it's an alright deal for storage, for $40 or so, it's a great bargain.

Two 32G thumb drives would be much more expensive, and this unit is not much bigger than two thumbdrives put together. You won't be hanging it around your neck to impress your friends, but it will fit in any pocket you happen to be wearing.

Great product, and I'd recommend this to a friend.

A hd in the pocket? . Well, if you want to have a hd always with you? this is the solution, small enough to fit in your shirt pocket :)

The only thing I sill think about is where to keep the cable :S

Great Product Just Right Size and Speed . These are great 1.8" hard drive devices...wish they came in bigger capacities. They read/write to disk much faster than regular USB thumb drives and the capacity is decent as well. I bought one, used it and then had to have another. Best compromise in size, speed, performance, ease of use for carrying files, software, etc., under 60GB. Have had one for about 6 months, the other for about 1 and no problems with either device. Prefer the black color over the white, but both are great.
