Bought it! Used it! Loved it! Lost it! . All in the space of one weekend. This sucker is TINY, about the size of a junebug. The lanyard hole was too small for my keychain, so I was freehanding it and I'll be damned if I can find it now. Worked great while I had it though. It will probably turn up in the wash, which is okay because my previous USB flash drives have survived the laundry no problem. Worked fine, minus one star because the lanyard hole really should be a bit bigger.

TWO WEEKS LATER: Found it in the wash, as expected. Works fine, though. Drilled out the lanyard hole to make it slightly larger. Now have it on the keychain. Cute and elegant.

Using it with car stereo's USB reader . I bought this drive to use in my car. The drive itself works great. It is very nice looking and shiny which means it gets dirty very easily. Lots of fingerprints. The size is very compact and I like the retractable connector. That means no caps to loose and no damage. It comes with an useless wrist strap that's too small to fit a wrist...would be nice to have a carrying pouch or something...gets lost easily in purse.

Lot of storage + extras in small package . I wanted to purchase a new flash drive that was retractable. This one is VERY small. It has a little weight to it, and feels very sturdy. It is not made out of solid plastic (hence the weight); therefore, does not feel cheap. It has some nice extras for software that will allow it to serve as a lock for your laptop (computer will not work when removed), as well as store your passwords. My only complaint (and hence the 4/5 stars instead of 5/5) is that the side that has the light is actually on the bottom when inserted. I do not think this drive has ReadyBoost (uses the memory to speed your computer). If it does have it, I haven't found it. Wish it had that.

Nice little USB storage . This is a great device. At first I was worried since the USB connector does not have the metal shield. But it did not effect its usage.

Not so bad but... . I really don't understand this USB Flash memory. The main idea was to do a elegant/luxury USB Flash mem, but...

For example: they say "has a genuine Swarovski crystal".... Hmmm... For what? I would prefer a genuine Light Emitting Diode (also know in some markets as... guess what? LED).... INCREDIBLE!!! Has a Swarovski crystal but DOESN'T HAVE A F..UNNY LED!!!! Why???

Another thing: I think tiny USB flash memories look "cute" when the casing is all plastic. But... I still didn't get the point in this memory. Has a (rather expensive) rare crystal but... the USB connector is simple plastic?

I rate it as 4 stars mainly because it's fast, works excellent, I don't have any complaints as a USB. But, hey... I prefer to have a LED and not a "Swarovski crystal" :S

Basic Thumb Drive -Nothing More . It really makes me mad that it doesn't have an LED. Instead, there's a thing on it's back side that makes you think there's an LED.

Dead on arrival . I spent over two hours trying to figure out why my IBM Thinkpad could not recognize this flash drive, including downloading a new BIOS update from IBM's website. Transcend's website is vague about compatibility (which I didn't think SHOULD be an issue, but I'm no techie), and there are NO PHONE NUMBERS for web support! You just have to leave an e-mail and it says they will get back to you within 2 business days! I did get an e-mail back in good time, telling me "so sorry, item is defective, please send it back."

This flash drive is attractive and small--although with the chrome finish it always has fingerprints on it--but if it doesn't work and I have to ship it back, it's an inconvenience, not a tool.

Plastic usb connector . I am really disappointed with this drive - the usb connector is not metal - it is cheap plastic. I have dealt with the plastic usb connectors in the past, and they tend to just stop working. They also break much easier. I am returning the product because of this.

Excellent hardware shame about the software. . This drive is marketed by Iomega as primarily an archival solution, but it is also great as a kind of floppy drive for the 21st Century (a super Zip drive). The hardware is faultless - a massive improvement on the deeply flawed Peerless drive - and the Iomega REV disks seem robust: I send one overseas though the mail once a week, have it returned the following week, and so far without any reliability problems.

However, it is as a backup solution that I purchased my Rev drive and in this context the whole is let down by the supplied backup software. Iomega's Rev-enabled versions of Backup Pro and Ghost just don't make the grade for serious backups. I soon gave up trying to make sense of Backup Pro and getting it to work consistently. Instead, I bought a copy of Dantz Retrospect 6.5 Professional, for about $90. Now, I make perfect daily backups.

For the cost of this drive, why doesn't Iomega bundle a copy (perhaps limited) of Retrospect?

One of the best backup solutions I've found . The drive is fast, efficiant, reliable, and once saved my life because I'd backed up a whole hard drive of a laptop on to it - a laptop which then got left by an open window during a sudden downpour. I've tried a whole host of backup solutions over the years, this is the only one that allows you to take an image of an entire hard drive in about 35 minutes (15 GB of data: my last solution took nearly four hours to do this) and store it somewhere safe, for a rainy day.

One BIG Zip Disk . This is being marketed as a backup solution, and that's fine, it's a great one and, depending upon what you're using, maybe a little expensive. However, don't overlook (and this isn't obvious at all from their marketing) that this is still just like one very fast, and, very, VERY BIG password protected Zip Drive! Iomega has finally delivered what they promised (and NEVER delivered at 2.0 USB!!!) with the Peerless several years ago. This unit is really small -- the disks are smaller than Zip disks -- and if they keep up with their plans of doubling the capacity every 18 months or so, they may really be onto something. Installation was totally unremarkable and exactly as promised. It comes with a version of Norton Ghost made especially for the Rev. Following the included directions step-by-step re: the Ghost backup is very important.

Backup needs 1 disk for system and 1 for data . Big suprise to me - Iomega REV software backs up user files ONLY.The ad copy says "Save Everything!" but backing up Windows system files to a REV disk requies a special version of Norton Ghost (included with the REV).REV Backup and Norton Ghost cannot share one disk even if partitioned. Each must have its own disk. Backing up a complete hard drive requires 2 REV disks. REV Automatic Backup Pro will automatically back up user files at specified intervals but system backups are not automatic because Norton Ghost runs directly from the CD drive not under Windows. I found the REV system software install confusing and my first attempt produced a configuration that does not recognize the disk that it created. Nothing in Help or the web site FAQ's addresses this issue.I have not taken time to uninstall it and start over.The initial REV backup copy of 7.7GB took 3.5 hours. Be aware that the software shipped with initial units needs patches before use (available on the Iomega web site).I believe that I can get this to work for me - but it isan't a no-brainer install. Review pertains to the USB model REV on a Win 2000 Pro system.

The Floppy of the Future . When I first unpacked this , I was amazed to see just how compact it was. The software loaded without a hitch and I was up and running. This is a dream come true. It backs up my data as fast if not faster than my old external drive. I bought this because on my job we switched from our old Zip 250 to these, so I needed this at home for work, but wow It does so much more. I loaded all my sons pc games onto it so I could free up the pc's internal drive and they work just as well. I just pop out his disk and place in mine when I need to work. I love it, Thanks Iomega for a great device.

The Super Zip . This is what we needed. Iomega finally gave us a Zip style drive to meet the needs of today. I use this as an external hard drive. It's as fast as my maxtor 80 gig, but with being able to swap disks. I lost alot of data once when my old external maxtor crashed. But with this it's easy to change disks. I had the zip 250 for 5 years and loved it but needed more storage. This is the answer. Software loaded easy and I was up and running in a few minutes.

Thanks for your reviews . After reviewing the product on this web site, I finally took the plunge. I couldn't be happier. I have my entire hard drive imaged and have Automatic Backup Pro updating hourly. I haven't had a decent backup system since Adaptec 4 which doesn't support Windows XP. This worked with Iomega's USB CDR. Since I now have a new computer and a wonderful backup system; I should be good to go for some time. In case of disaster, I can recover in a short time. As a Tax Preparer, this is of major importance in the months to come......

Simply Great . This device is simply awesome. We've been looking for a back-up solution for some time. At first we looked at DVD based solutions. Unfortunately, such solutions have at least four limitations. First, reading and writing to DVD is much slower than a USB hard drive. Second, DVDs can only store 4.7 GB of information. Therefore, backups need to span multiple disks; and forget about storing a hour long .avi file to a single disk. Third, writing information to DVDs requires special software. Fourth, unless you have a cartridge based DVD-RAM drive, you can only re-write data on a DVD about a thousand times. This device solves those problems. It is fast, reliable and easy to use. After plugging it into a USB port it functions just like a removable 35 GB hard drive. We use it for backing up data and video files. We can store two hour long .avi files and their mpeg2 equivalents on a single disk.

Great alternative to tapes . This is based on bernoulli(removable hard drive) technology that is random access and is 8 time faster than a type drive in most cases. The cartridges are the same size as a stack of four 720k/1.44mb floppy disks. Works with most tape back up software. There are various models of this drive which include internal vs external and interface type such as USB, SCSI, Firewire, IDE.

Lived a good long time then died without warning. . We've been using our REV for several years as an accounting system backup device. Simple. Scriptable. Dependable. The only problem was that it rolled over on its back one evening and died. I suppose you can't expect these things to last forever, and ours went a good 3+ years without incident. Now that the price is down in the $260 range, it's a nice little device for nightly backups.

Supertalent UltraDrive ME SSD is a Good Value . This SSD works fine without any difficulty at all. Have tried running Open SUSE 11.0 Linux and had no problems at all, and it ran very fast. I then imaged my work notebook drive onto it and have been running it for a couple of months now. OS is Windows XP SP3, 32bit, and drive is fully encrypted (end point protection). Performance is good. It is noticeably faster than the original hard disk but nothing breath taking. I was not expecting a miraculous boost in performance so am not disappointed at all. My main purpose in using an SSD is for greater reliability. I use my notebook computer in many different situations and it can get bumped around quite a bit. Some jobs require me to move around between several different areas and I like to leave the notebook on (not in suspend or hibernation). The drive allows the notebook to run much cooler so I can actually put it in my bag with the cooling fan side sticking out and it is just fine. This leaves my hands free to carry my other tools and test equipment. I also don't have to worry about the hard drive failing with all the moving and bumping that happens. Battery life is also longer by about 40 minutes. This makes my notebook a very durable tool that I don't to treat extra delicately. I can concentrate on my work and not worry about the notebook.

FTM32GX25H SSD . Very fast product, easily increased our speed 2-3x over the 7200 rpm drives we had been using, would recommend for any workstation that is of a critical nature.

(Almost) Best USB . I have the 8GB version of this, and at the time i bought it, the 16GB werent out yet, but anyways, Its waterproof (which i havent tried yet) and its good just in case you leave it on a desk or table and a drink spills. Very very small, everyone that has seen it says "Wow, i didnt know they make them that tiny".

Now, for the bad stuff:
It gets pretty hot, since its metal, compact, and transferring data fast.
And, the thing that bothers me, is that the width of the USB flash drive is JUST small enough to fit in the USB port, and what i mean by that is that you have to use force to push it in, but after a couple of uses it gets easier.

Good product, if i had the money, i would buy this 16GB

Cons Review

Great drive but not reliable and HORRIBLE customer service . Bought one last July, installed easy, worked great. 3 months in, started dying (hanging - had to power cycle to make it work again). Reaching Super Talent customer support was a challenge. They told me to ship it overnight and pre-pay for overnight shipping back, what a crock that was. After they got it they told me it will be 3-6weeks before they even look at it. Finally after calling almost daily for 3 weeks (and having them repeatedly tell me what I want to hear just to get me off the phone "yes sir, we shipped it", "it's going out today", etc, etc) I got my replacement few weeks later. Another 3 months later, the replacement is dead again, tried calling, this time they don't even take live calls, just "email us please" message. *sigh* When I emailed I got an automated "fill out this form and we'll fix/replace in 3 weeks" form. At this rate I figure I got one more replacement before they run out their warranty - now I know why it's only 1 year. *sigh*

Died 2 times in 2 years . Second time now that it dies on me in two years. Customer support was nice, RMA worked so far, but to me the high probability of total loss of data makes this a product I would not buy again (see also the forums on the manufacturer's website).

Very fast but ultimately not worth it . Like many other solid state drives (SSDs), this one is extraordinarily fast when compared with traditional platter hard drives and even other SSD models. This particular unit is helped by the much-praised Indilinx "Barefoot" controller that essentially eliminates the pausing/stuttering that plagued many early SSDs. Another positive about SSDs is that they can benefit from regular firmware updates that are designed to improve performance, compatibility, and wear resistance. That's where we run into trouble with this Super Talent SSD. The firmware update procedure is nearly impossible because of the archaic way the company requires it be done. Instead of putting the update utility on its support web site in the form of a bootable ISO CD image, they simply package the software and firmware file together in a program that requires using MS-DOS; they even specify a Windows 98 boot disk. Who would have such a thing lying around? I tried several different Windows 98 bootable CD images on my system, and none of them worked properly. Ultimately, it was not worth the hassle. I ended up getting a second standard hard drive, identical to the one already in my computer, and created a RAID-0 array for my new Windows 7 installation. That was much less expensive, gave me much more storage space, and it provided similar performance to the single SSD.

Great Product for an fantastic price. Very pleased. . I purchased the Lexar 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for a new camera that my girlfriend received as a christmas gift. Before checking online I went to several stores and they were all between $50-$75 for the same thing. I found this one one Amazon for less than $20 and it has worked great. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for one of these. It fits all sony products that use a Memory Stick Pro Duo memory card. I used it on my PSP and my girlfriend has used it with her new Sony camera with no issues. This is a great product at a great price.

Cons Review

lexar files are lost on sony alpha camera . I bought 2 (4 gig) from Fry's electronics. I lost more than 5-10 photos because it wouldn't allow me to transfer via cable or direct to my computer. It frequently crash when I view files on my sony alpha camera and left an error msg "unable to read card". Transfering files to my sony laptop crashed the OS. I had no problems using a smaller 1 gig memory stick (other than sony) with my camera. Lexar needs more work, it's not compatable with sony cameras. If your files are valuable, don't get this stick it has issues.

Great way to add a DVD burner w/o any high expense and don't need to open the system unit. . I bought this for my own desktop (DELL) which had only a CD-ROM and no DVD nor burner. I love this unit and now I recommend it to those who have me install their new PCs. Everyone so far is far more than satisfied with this excellent bargain.

What a buy! . Grandson loved the item and the ease of use. Item is working great for the amature movie maker!

Cons Review

Junk - Would not recommend buying this . I purchased one of these refurb'd here (from Dealbarn) and it absolutely did not work right out of the box.
Not sure what is considered refurbishing, but my guess is this thing came in defective, and shipped out defective, as-is.
I have a Macbook and these are compatible, but the problem lies in the drive itself. Toast sees the drive perfectly, but it just flashes and spins endlessly, and the device pops in and out of 'consciousness' in Toast and on my machine.
Not much info is available anywhere (even on manufacture website) either.
My recommendation is to skip this and move on, spend 10 more dollars for something new that has a better chance of working.

Defective Unit. Poor support from BuyDirect. . I bought this device on Dec 24. Delivered on time by Amazon.

Deffective device does not work. It does not seem new. I blame BuyDirect; who has not responded my support inquiries.

I am contacting Amazon this week for extra support and see if this can be returned and refunded.

Rocks! . Purchased last week. I feel a little dirty 'cause it wasn't from Amazon (lord knows I give them 99 percent of everything else). Anyway, this is the largest and fastest flash drive I have ever owned.

Totally rocks and files and images instantly appear on the drive. HD movies xfer at a steady 20mbs from what I've tested so far. Faster than any Sandisk I've ever owned.

OH YEAH! No garbage programs and bloatware to contend with or try to delete/format off your drive. Love it!

Last thing is it's really small. It looks durable and could probably easily be attached to, and left on, your keychain without worry. I am considering doing that because I could easily see myself losing this thing otherwise

This is my favorite flash drive till date!! . I've always known flash drives for being slow pieces of bleep. This one took me totally by surprise!

First off, this flash drive is TINY!! I love it! It has a retractable port too which makes it extra tiny. Its also extremely light! The outside material is a nice rubbery finish. It attracts a bit of dust that seems to kinda stick on it but I don't really care so much, its not terrible. I just wish it was waterproof.

This drive when formatted to be optimized for large files, it transfers at constant blazing speed of 19mb/s and sometimes higher. This paired with its humongous 32gb of storage space has me in love with it! I transfer HD movies on and off it at super speeds! Read speeds are tremendous too, though I have not tested them. It has no trouble letting me run my Nuke projects right off the drive.

All in all a great flash drive that I highly recommend! Another plus is that Corsair is known for its quality memory.

Buy this, you won't be disappointed!

Super Device Fast and Small . This device is exactly what I was looking for in a Flash unit. It is small, very good capacity, reasonable speed for USB 2.0 and appears rugged. It was recognized by Win 7/64 and VISTA on different machines. It is a bit hard to insert the first few times, but afterwards, no real problem.Highly recommend this unit - understand its limitations - it is USB 2.0, so if speed is a factor go with the USB 3.0 version devices.

This device will fit in a USB connector, both ways. That's right, because of its design, you can insert the device upside down. Many times I find myself waiting for the unit to be recognized, only to realize that it is upside down. This could easily have been prevented. Note in the pictures the exposed contacts - that should have been a clue to me. They truly are exposed which means it could be inserted both ways. I reduced rating from 5 to 3, it is that annoying on freguently used devices across many types of systems.

low quality rubber . The flash drive itself is fine, no problem with reading and writing, it works. But if you want to hook this little thing to your keyring and carry it around in your pocket the rubber around the ring area will break since it's not very durable.

Small Fast and Reliable . I work with computers a great deal and needed a thumb drive to use for re-imaging. The image file I'm using is about 25GB. This thumb drive was the perfect size, both in capacity as well as the physical size. It is very fast (restoring at over 60Mbps depending upon the computer) and has been used for about 40 restores as of this writing. I like that it's retractable. I would definitely purchase another if the need arises. Two thumbs up :-)!

Love it. . The design is exactly what I was looking for. The slide out contacts eliminate the need for a cap to loose. It works perfectly attached to my key chain with a detachable ring (from any hardware store) so I have it wherever I go. The soft, rubber-like outside seems to protect it from shock and makes it easy to grip. I've owned it and used it every day for 5 months now with no issues at all.

Small fast large . Tiny USB that is fairly well designed.The retractor is easy to use and grips the thumb well. It hides and secures the USB contacts (the metal bits) sufficiently that you don't need to worry about them.The rubbery outer skin is easy to grip so even though it is small you don't need to worry about not being able to get a good hold of it.It always amazes me that something so small can hold 32 GB of memory.It is, of course, a tiny bit expensive for the amount of data that you get, but then you realize that you're paying for the speed of the thing. There was another review floating around here by Nathan C Beel that you should read if you're interested in basic read/write speeds.As long as you don't keep the USB extended while it's not plugged in, then it should be fine and not break.

Very Good . I got this I was looking for a usb drive to carry on my key ring this one fits the bill in a few ways.
1. its very small size is lets it fit in with my other things.
2. Its light weight .
3. I got the 32 gb one so it holds quite a bit.
4. its rubberized so its durable.

so small it can get lost but easy to carry and use . I never buy any flash drives unless they are CorseAir - I love them all, and have never had a problem with the memory. The only difficulty, is that I tend to lose the caps. When this mini came out, I ordered 3 - one for myself, one for my son and one as a gift. I carry my whole office as well as my life on it. And I can't lose the cap as the memory piece slides in and out of the casing. Only difficulty, is that it is so small I have had to attach it to a clippable key chain (which I have attached to a zipper)for fear I would leave it somewhere or that it might get lost in my purse.
