Lexar JumpDrive FireFly 4GB Black in color
This review is from : Jumpdrive Firefly 4GB
Okay but nothing fancy . The Lexar firefly USB flash/thumb drive is a small and compact drive that does the job. If you need a tiny flash drive for work or for casual use... it should do fine. However, overall it leaves you with a feeling that the designers could have done better and could've spent a bit more time ....well, designing it. Here are some pros and cons that I've found with these fireflys. The one I have is the 4GB, however they come in an assortment of memory capacities including 256MB(red), 512MB(green), 1GB(blue), 2GB(black), and 4GB(white). Each memory comes in a unique color. For example, the 4GB seems to only come in white, and 2GB comes in black.
Pros: Very small compact design (about as small as the Sandisk Micros), and clear protective case seems to clip and hold onto the drive pretty well. Cool blue LED at the end that flashes while reading and writing. Reads and Writes data pretty fast (though seemingly not as fast as Sandisk drives)
Cons: Pre-loaded Software on drive automatically tries to install itself on computer(personally, I hate the fact that the drive comes with pre-loaded software, but you may not mind). Plastic protective case does not come with a string or key-ring to put on keychain(only a hole to slip a key ring or string through). The Flash drive itself does not have any holes to attach directly to keyring, so if you lose the protective case, there's no way to attach the drive to your keys.(they should've included some extra protective cases in different colors just in case) The build quality looks cheap and not very sturdy looking. Colors are plain and ordinary looking with very little choices. I don't like being stuck with one color choice per memory capacity. They should've just gone with black, silver, or metallic hues.
Conclusion: If you're just looking for a nice, simple and compact portable drive with a variety of capacities, this should do the trick. Also, the price on these are dropping fast and therefore are a good value for the money. However, if your data is very important to you, you may want to go with a sturdier model (like the Sandisk Titanium)... but expect to spend more money. This flash-drive does what it claims... though it doesn't claim much. No many bells and whistles here... if you're a gadget freak, you may be left wanting more... like yours truly. However, if the price is right, it's hard to pass up a good deal. Thankfully I got a good deal (Psst ...not on Amazon)

Jumpdrive Firefly 4GB Reviews
Sturdy enough but not very fast. . I have carried this flash drive on my keychain for over a year and have had no issues with the drive or its clear protective cover. Write speed for a 1GB zip file is around 1.8MB/sec (it takes 10 minutes to write the file to the Firefly). Read speed for the same file is 9.2MB/sec. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the Firefly 4GB.

Firefly 4gb . I like my jumpdrive except that it seems to take a while to save my projects. Other than that it is a great tool
Jumpdrive Firefly 4GB Opinions
Love it . I need to back up all my class lectures, including illustrations, and this 4GB Firefly is just what I needed. It is a little slow, but that does not worry me too much. Its design is such that the small unit is separable from the cover, and so it plugs securely into my labtop USB without having a key ring dangling from it.
Lexar are a very reliable company, and I also have two of their 1GB mass storage devices. Very satisfied with them as well.

nothing flashy . This is my second Lexar flash drive and overall all it does what I need it to do. It is extremely small for the capacity of 4 GB and looks pretty cool. Like my last Lexar, I am not too impressed with the durability of the build but I got this at a very resonable price so I won't complain.
p.s. watch for sales at your local big box and office supply stores. You may be surprised at how cheap you can get this for.....

Cons Review
Very slow performance . I bought the Lexar Jumpdrive Firefly 4GB as a backup device, hoping to regularly sync my My Documents folder with it. Initially I was pleased with it--it is very small in size and the 4GB capacity is plenty for my purposes. However, when I started using it I was surprised how long it took to copy over my files, a total of only 360MB. Later I noticed that it was also very slow when I did an incremental backup, which usually consisted of only a few small files that I had modified the same day.
The performance was so slow, that I decided to test the drive using the SiSoftware Sandra benchmark program. The results astonished me. The drive was at least 10 times slower than another flash drive that I owned, a SanDisk cruzer mini 1.0 GB. In fact, the Jumpdrive Firefly was the slowest drive in the benchmark program's database--its performance was only slightly better than a 3.5" floppy disk!
Needless to say this didn't work for me. Unfortunately it was too late to return the item, since I had already broken the shrink-wrap packaging (obviously). A Lexar support representative told me that the drive wasn't designed to be fast.
I don't recommend this product to anyone, unless read/write speed doesn't matter to you at all.

S L O W!!!! . Will this device hold data? Yes. Is it small? Yes. Is it slower than floppy disks? YES. This is the slowest thumb drive I have ever used. 15 minutes to copy 100mb of files. It's not worth the hassle being so slow. I suggest you search elsewhere.
Spiffy Design but Poor Performance . I had a the black 2GB FireFly and fell in love with the compact design and overall aesthetics of the product. I'm not sure why most USB flash drives out there are so bloody ugly, but the Lexar is certainly a diamond in the rough. It's so small, I hardly notice that it's in my pocket, and it hardly takes up any space in my briefcase, which is typically overstuffed as it is.
Unfortunately, my 2GB split in half a long the seam, and while it still works, I didn't want to trust my data on it in case the chip became damaged.
Other users have commented that the device is very slow. I agree. I make sure I start copying and backing up files well before it's time to leave work to ensure I don't get stuck waiting. To copy 750 MB of data took 35 minutes--I should have just burned a couple of CDs.
I bought the 4GB because I was generally satisfied with the 2GB. Here's a quick summary of the pros and cons.
- Great design, but not durable. Eventually, my 4GB will split along the seam as my 2GB did.
- Compact. You won't even notice that you're carrying it.
- Very, very slow. Are you sure this isn't a USB 1.0 device?

So Slooooooooow . I really can't begin to describe how slow the transfer rate of the Lexar firefly is. The transfer rate makes it nearly unusable for anything but a few small files. It can take literally HOURS to transfer 500 MB if it is a bunch of small files you are transferring. It is a little bit faster with fewer larger files. However, I recommend looking for something else. I am very disappointed with my purchase.
small cheap slow . This is a very compact USB flash drive, with good capacity, and it is cheap. The plastic cap provides good protection. The main drawback is that this is a really really slow drive. It takes over an hour to copy 500MB onto it (from a hard drive, under Win XP). I can recommend this drive only for rarely-accessed archives, or if your time has no value.
