Awful hinge mildly annoying surprise program . As someone else said, this could have been so much better!
I chose the drive for the cap design, being tired of losing and scattering usb drive caps around the world. But that design seems flawed....
Maybe it's just my unit, but the hinge is so stiff that I have to fight every time I open the drive. I have to push it very carefully through the opening, then pry it open the rest of the way from the connector-end of the drive. This really makes the drive annoying to use in the fast-paced setting for which I bought it. Yes, it's cool that the hinge lights up blue to indicate when the drive is active. But I wish it worked more smoothly!

The software that came with it could have been better too, but hey, I didn't even know the drive CAME with software -- the package says nothing about it. Annoyingly, however, if I use the PowerToGo/Ceedo software to look at the files on the drive, I cannot drag and drop a document INTO that window, as I normally would/should be able to do in a usual windows environment. The window even looks just like Windows' version, making it more irritating. Yes, I can copy and paste a document into the PowerToGo window, but that is cumbersome. This has to be an error in the program.

To the user who was rightly annoyed by the automatically appearing desktop shortcut -- it irritated the cr** out of me too -- but you can turn that off if you go to "options" in the PowerToGo menu.

UPDATE: After several weeks of use, the hinge has loosened somewhat, and is now much easier to work. I just hope the process doesn't continue to the point where the drive swings freely and "exposes itself" uncommanded. I would up my rating to four stars now, with the hinge improving, and noticing how truly convenient it is not to have to mind a cap -- but I can't change the rating here, it seems. Also, as others have noted, you don't have to use the software; you can even just wipe it from the drive and move forward as though it never existed.
Lexar 2GB Jumpdrive Swivel 360 Degree Cap with Sleek Stainless Steel Design JDSW2GB-431 Reviews
TWO Gigabytes (and it feels like it) . I was suckered into buying a teeny tiny 2GB flash drive because of its Lilliputian size: about half the length of a wrapped stick of chewing gum and about the same thickness. As quickly as it had come into my life, it was gone. It probably slipped out of my pocket while I was digging around for my car keys and has long since been swept up by a street sweeper or pecked to pieces by a curious pigeon.

The Jumpdrive 360 has just enough size and heft to prevent that kind of mishap. It nestles in the bottom of your pocket instead of mixing in with the quarters, nickels and dimes. The hinged cover is one less thing to lose, and the included software is icing on the cake. Since I'm a capacity hog, I moved the software off of the Jumpdrive and onto my iMac until I decide to use it.

In performance, it's everything you expect from Lexar. It plugs in and gets right to work with every popular 32-bit and 64-bit operating system, from Windows 98 to the latest and greatest from the wizards at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, California (that's Apple to you). It's fast enough to play big ol' honkin' audio and video files without stutters and flutters. It takes out and puts away document files faster than a hypercaffeinated filing clerk. And it has a handy read/write indicator concealed in the hinge.

Yes, there are smaller, cuter flash drives out there, but cute li'l things have a tendency to grow legs and skitter away. The Jumpdrive 360 is just the right size to stay put until you need it.
Lexar 2GB Jumpdrive Swivel 360 Degree Cap with Sleek Stainless Steel Design JDSW2GB-431 Opinions
Simple and functional excellent design . I've been looking for an ideal usb drive for quite some time, which means it should not have a cover that can fall off and with a good read/write speed.

Have used the Cruzer Titanium series in the past, these are marketed as 'indestructible' however, the loop used to attach it to the keyring is very fragile.

This drive is fast, has an all-in-one design (the casing itself fits onto your keyring) and looks great as well.

If you're looking for a simple and functional USB flash drive, this will serve your purpose.

--- Update Jan 2010 ---
The Lexar JumpDrive Swivel series has been discontinued, I now recommend the newer Lexar JumpDrive TwistTurn series
Works Good & Looks Good Doing It. :) . Basically I wanted a quick & easy storage device to move around my video file. I searched ALL & I mean ALL available Flash Drives on Amazon. I found the space on this drive & the price point (for 2GB drives in general) to be just right.
While searching I found out that some drives (like those from SanDisk & the Data Traveler by Kingston have U3 software the consensus on that is it causes more trouble than it may be worth. avoid like the plague)
I wanted a cap-less design because I KNOW Ill lose it if it had one. (this narrowed my choices a bit)
It left me with 2 the Imation - USB 2.0 Swivel Pro Flash Drive & the Lexar. I made my choice because the Lexar has some security due to the built in software (which works just fine) Plus the Lexar looks way better that nearly all other drives Ive seen. (if youre into contemporary designs)
There is even a space to the top to attach a lanyard! That will come in handy.
Mind you this is NOT the cheapest Drive Ive seen but I never buy cheap I buy quality.
It is exactly what I needed it to be. . I write this from the non-expert perspective.
This is small enough to fit in the change compartment of a wallet, but not so small that you won't notice if you drop it.
It sets up immediately, with just a few dummy-proof clicks to get the built-in software going. It has no cap to misplace, one of the biggest annoyances of my previous jump drives.
It has no key ring, which at first I minded, but the keys weighed down my last jump drive when I plugged it in, so perhaps just as well.
This also seems to be very sturdy, very little to bend or break unless you purposely step on it.
Highly recommended.
A weenie winner . It's small (a good thing), and you can't lose the cap (another good thing). It's also fast, but then you expect that from LEXAR. Put a small key ring through the slot in the cover, and then you can hang it from a neckchain of other convenient carrying device.
Well-Built & Fast . I've been using the 2GB model to synchronise all of my working files between a home laptop system and a desktop at university (I'm a PhD student). I also use it as a keychain as well so it's always in my pocket or bumping up against all of the junk I carry back and forth on a daily basis as well as around town.

After a month of frequent use, the drive still seems solidly built, though the plastic of the USB casing is the least solid element (the metal 'wrapper' appears pretty much indestructible). Transfers are lightning fast over USB2 and I can sync well over 500MB of data in less than 30 seconds. Good enough for me.

I have *not* used the software provided on the disk since it doesn't work on a Mac, but the one time I attached it to a PC Windows offered to start up the included application that (as I understand it) allows you to generate a portable profile for use on any PC.
Fine Product . While this isn't quite as fast as the Sandisk that I have, I found it perfectly functional.
Love It!! . I forget sometimes I have this but I love this little guy!! Buy it!! You will be glad you did :-)

Cons Review
Poor quality. . I have come to expect quite a bit more in terms of quality from Lexar. The concept is very cool, no cap to lose and the metal is highly resilient, the motion was good, etc... However, within 6 months of day to day use the connector failed and I was unable to transfer data without holding the unit in a very precarious position. Luckily i was able to get all my important data off before it finally gave up the ghost.

I have since purchased a new drive, which will hopefully hold up better. Be forewarned this item works out of the box and is solid, but based on my experience I wouldn't trust it with anything important, because mine failed in less than 6 months of moderate use.
