The SanDisk Cruzer Titanium is rugged, fast and smart. Built with a Liquidmetal casing that is crush resistant to over 2000 lbs it also has lightning fast speed of up to 15MB/s write and read performance. In addition, a retractable USB port protects and eliminates the need for cover caps. Amazon has certified this product's packaging is Frustration-Free. A Frustration-Free Package is easy-to-open and comes without excess packaging materials such as wire ties, hard plastic "clamshell" casings, and plastic bindings. It is exactly the same as a traditionally packaged product--we've just streamlined the packaging to be opened without the use of a box cutter or knife and will protect your product just as well as traditional packaging during shipping. Products with Frustration-Free Packaging can frequently be shipped in their own boxes, without the need for an additional shipping box.

Solid...and nice...! . I use a Cruzer Micro at work where I install, program and service temperature control systems. We use a lot of Honeywell DDC controllers and the Cruzer is what they elected to use as a copy protection dongle. I was immediately impressed by the build quality of the plastic Cruzer and thought that the rythmic bright-dim-bright of the light was much cooler than anything anyone else makes, so I bought one. Then I saw a few reviews of the titanium model and realized that I just had to have one!

First off, the 2 GB unit is one of the originals with the blue light and heavy construction. Of course, the storage capacity isn't much compared to some of the behemoths available now; but, the unit has a heft about it that is simply wonderful and if feels almost invincible. After reading the reviews of the newer and larger capacity titanium Cruzers I am very glad to have opted for this one. According to the reviews I have read the newer units have a much cheaper feel to them and have eschewed the blue light in favor of an orangish one (a reasonable choice of colors considering the bodies of the new units are more of a bronze color.) It's the cheaper construction that bothers me. The titanium drives cost a lot more than the plastic ones and should give you something in return for the higher price, something more substantial than the word 'titanium' in the title. I guess I should add here that the blue light on my 2GB titanium model does not pulsate like the orange light on the plastic drives (slightly bummer...), but that is about the only downside I have found so far.

The Micros came with U3 on them while the newer Cruzers don't. Some will see that as a plus, others a minus. I like U3 and wish it were still an option. One small mistake I made with this drive was to update the U3 to the newest version at Sandisk.com without selecting to backup the files. The old version of U3 on the drive was loaded with a number of apps and I just sort of figured the new version would be, too; wrong theory! The new version comes with zero apps. For anyone that's interested, there is a website that offers a nice selection of free apps for your U3 drive. Search for PortableApps on the web. You won't be disappointed.

If you are looking for a good solid flash drive, look no further. This is the one you've been waiting for. The price is low right now and when these are gone you may not find any more of them.
SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Titanium USB 2.0 Flash Drive (SDCZ7-2048) Reviews
Watch out for the ring . If you intend to put this on your keychain, be sure to use an additional nylon strap (like the type you use to tie wires/cables) around it for extra security. The one that comes with it is not strong enough to handle the 'abuse' inherent with a keychain.

If you want to put on a larger ring, watch out. It may not fit properly. Even if you are able to fit it, torque could separate the metal clamshell and you end up losing the flash drive. The stud that is used for the ring is welded/forged in place on one side, but the other side is just slotted into a hole. The two sides are pressed together with two metal studs biting into both pieces. It's fairly sturdy, but I did have one separate because of the torque from a larger metal ring.

The earlier produce run used the more expensive/faster chip, and coincidentally, they had blue LEDs, so if you got one that glows orange, no cigar for you (slow), but if it is the blue one, it's the fast one.
SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Titanium USB 2.0 Flash Drive (SDCZ7-2048) Opinions
Solid durable flash drive--once U3 is removed . Have this thing on a key chain, stands up to abuse so well never have to think about it.
A Great drive for carrying around work documents etc.
Not the fastest drive out there by any means but just fine for the important stuff.
You pay a bit more for this than others of similar capacity.
Blue Proton package is plain OEM type but drive is the real deal, shipment through Amazon so no worries.

HOWEVER, YOU MUST HAVE AN XP COMPUTER TO REMOVE U3.
The embedded (and non-removable through formatting)
U3 system that comes on the drive is the most unreliable software I've ever used, sometimes it works, sometimes it won't
even had it just die completely, losing all data. Removal tool from Sandisk is available, but is also unreliable and
usually will only work in XP.
time will tell - and it did . my original 4 star rating: only time and use will tell how good this drive is, it seems rather flimsy compared to an older sandisk titanium.
2 months later: I wanted a sturdy metal drive, but it often fails to connect properly while my plastic sandisks work everytime.
Awesome drive . Works really well and feels durable with the metal casing, anyway i got the blue light one and i like it. The U3 software can be a good thing or a bad thing. Personally i hate the software because the first time i used i had a few problems. I pretty much agree with the other reviews except for the fact that you don't need a windows xp computer to run the U3 removal tool, which you can get from the sandisk website for free. Anyway performance is great and i love the blue light so i would recommend this product to anyone who needs a USB flash drive.
Great product . I already had other San Disk Titanium drives and love them for the engineering/construction industry due to their rugged design. Also fits well next to other USB drives, unlike some USB thumb drives. Great product!
Great for the price. . Very sturdy feeling USB drive, I think I could run it over with my car and still be able to use it.

Cons Review
dont buy from this store . first of all, i am a person who is fun of buying BRAND NEW usb, i tend to search a little in the internet about best usb of 2011, so i saw this usb as one of the best usb at cnet and it is rated as the first. so when i decided to buy this item and ship it to my house i started to freaked out because it is not a brand new. i hate this store. i will never ever buy from this store again.
