Solid design good performance . Couldn't find any USB drives locally with a write protect switch, so had to search the web for them. The Kanguru design matched what I wanted and seems to be solidly constructed using a aluminum shell instead of the usual plastic construction.
Performance for the two drives I purchased are:
Writing speed: 9.12 MByte/s
Reading speed: 17.1 MByte/s
Writing speed: 7.02 MByte/s
Reading speed: 17.1 MByte/s

so it looks like write speeds vary by individual drive, but read speed seems to be consistent.
For transporting data to "foreign" or public PCs, the write protect switch is mandatory for preventing the spread of infections from those machines back to your clean machines.
I'll never buy another USB drive that does not have a write-protect switch!

kanguru thumb drive provides data security . I need to be able to move data from non-secure computers to an isolated secure network. The simple rule is that you cannot place an unclassified medium into any device on the secure network without having a PHYSICAL WRITE-PROTECTION SWITCH on the transfer medium. Very few thumb drives offer this feature. Kanguru does. Moreover they have a wide range of capacities from which to choose. Not to mention a clever name and affordable price. The bold color helps avoid "losing" it in desktop/deskdrawer clutter.
Week design . Nice design but weak. The chip was loosen from its enclosure during the first three days of use. I glued it back with crazy glue and now it's good as new. I guess that you just get what you paid for.
