With the LaCie Network Space MAX, you're not simply storing files from your computer, you're storing files from all over your home. Imagine all of the data spread across your home computers now stored safely in one place. Connect the Network Space MAX through the Ethernet port to a computer or to a router, and share and store all of your media files from anywhere in your house with the fastest speeds. You can even back up multiple computers to ensure that your files are safe. For Mac users, it's Time Machine compatible. The Network Space MAX includes two large-capacity hard drives that can be configured for maximum security (RAID 1) or maximum capacity (RAID 0). If protecting your data is a priority, the RAID 1 mode will ensure automatic disk mirroring - meaning all files will be copied onto each of the disks. If one drive fails, data will not be lost. The Network Space MAX is designed for ultimate usability. LaCie Network Assistant software helps you set up the product within a few minutes. It provides the best user experience for quick detection and access to the Network Space MAX. LaCie's user-friendly dashboard allows you to easily manage files, backups, private accounts, and download torrents. Additionally, with the Network Space MAX, the files stored on the hard drive are fully accessible outside your home from any connected computer using the remote access service. The Network Space MAX features a media server, making it easy to stream files to any connected computer or any UPnPTM/DLNA compliant device (such as a PlayStation 3 or Xbox ). Computers with iTunes installed can also stream the music stored on the Network Space MAX.

Software Bait and Switch . The hardware is great, though it took longer than I expected to mount it on our family LAN. After some tweaking over the first week I had it, it runs fine. The one thing that irritated me was the Genie back up manager that came with the drive. After getting the drive set up and running, I went through the process of setting up back ups only to find that the version would not work on a network and was funtional only for the single computer to which it was attached. As a result, I had to shell out another $70 for the pro version. If all I wanted was a back up drive for my PC I could have paid half as much for a WD drive.

LaCie Network Space Max 2 TB Gigabit Ethernet USB 2.0 Network Attached Storage 301519KUA Reviews
1st impression-Fantastic! . Got it from Amazon. I don't live in the US so this was a gamble. Connected it to my router - and that's it! All three Macs in the house recognized it immediately, setting it up for Time Machine was instant. VERY quiet.I am VERY happy with it. Since allows RAID 1, I would recommend getting the 4GB version when available. I also called Lacie tech support and got immediate useful help. This is not trivial - it comes after much grief with the Iomega home netwrok drive which didn't work, was not supported for Macs in my country, and the guy on Iomega tech support chat admitted after an hour that their software was not ready for Mac...Highly recommend
UPDATE - turned out the drive had a software problem. This was identified during an online chat with a Lacie representative. I had to send Lacie my drive, the problem was corrected, the drive was sent back, now works OK. So, despite the initial disappointment with the drive arriving defective, I can now recommend not only the drive but the service as well.

Perfect Solution for multi-system backup . This drive is fast, quiet and a perfect solution for backing up wired and wireless systems on my LAN. The setup was easy as I just connected the drive to my router and viola' had 2TB more disk storage to work with. I have not installed the Lacie software yet as I use Acronis True Image Home 2011 to perform differential backups of my desktop systems.

Don't give up . When I first set this up at my business, and tried to change to RAID 1, it told me that one of the disks had failed and the light became red on the unit. I was pissed and tried to contact customer service (this is not easy with these guys). I figured I'd try one more thing and then call it quits. I reset the unit and lo and behold, I was able to change the RAID and no red light and it seemed to work. I am going to buy another one for home since you can set it up for remote access which seems cool to me.
Fits my need . I was looking for a NAS since a long time.
I am glad that I found this.
Disadvantages:
1. I am forced to specify a size for MyShare.
2. Once specified, I can't change the partition size.

First month is good . I've had the unit for one month and I'm really liking it so far. With most family members having gained a laptop/netbook over the last couple of years it makes it so very nice to have a central repository for files.
We have a large repository of digital photos and this allows everyone in the family to access them without being tied to the desktop and its' external drive.
The unit itself was easy to setup and easy to get everyone in the house connected. It sits on a desk shelf in our "office", is very quiet and other than the blue light I barely ever notice it. Nice and quiet, even when sitting at the desk.
My next step is to connect an external drive to the LaCie for backup purposes.

Great Storage for PC and MAC . Im using this NAS Storage at home with a PC and a MAC and I couldnt be happier.
Easy to use / Silent / and nice looking.

Cons Review
Stay away - does not work on Mac with Time Machine . Installed on a Mac to work with Time Machine. The back-up never worked, several types of error - meaningless error codes with no documentation. Web interface is clunky to set up. Tried to manually copy files - did not work either, same unknown errors. Very bad experience - stay away. Returned the next day and probably will buy a Time Capsule.
