One plus one is greater than two. Transcend's Store Jet 25M3 portable hard drive combines the advantages of Transcend's award-winning shockproof Store Jet M series and the next-generation Super Speed transfer rates of USB 3.0, allowing users to enjoy ultra-fast file transfers and the highest level of anti-shock protection. Besides its outstanding combination of super fast transfer speeds and extra-rugged anti-shock design, the Store Jet 25M3 is equipped with an extremely convenient One Touch auto-backup button. Now you can instantly backup, synchronize and copy large files without having to waste precious time waiting for the transfer to complete.

Perfect... . Does exactly what it says it does, and seems to be solidly constructed. I like the portability, and am more comfortable with it being shock resistant. It's nice not having to plug it into a wall adapter as well. I have performed numerous backups and have yet to experience a problem.

Transcend StoreJet M3 500 GB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive TS500GSJ25M3 Reviews
just what I needed . Been looking for a usb 3.0 external drive and this transcend fits the bill. The build quality is excellent with little to no vibration coming from the drive. Hardly audible transferring gigabytes of data. Nice fit and finish and stands out above the rest with the green accents. A bit pricier than the competition but well worth the upgrade in shock/drop protection.

Transcend StoreJet M3 500 GB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive TS500GSJ25M3 Opinions
The ideal 500GB self-contained portable hard drive. . I shoot a lot of HD video footage on digital still cameras such as my GoPro HD Hero and Canon SX20IS which both use 32GB SDHC memory cards for storage. When I'm on the road its easy to fill a memory card with 2.5 hours of HD video long before my shoot is over. With this hard drive and my laptop nearby I can drop the memory card into a card reader connected to my laptop and dump the contents of the card to the Transcend HD while I continue to shoot on the second memory card. This keeps my smaller computer HD from filling up. And makes it easy to transfer the video back to my desktop machine later for editing. While I am around the house I use a wall plug USB power supply to connect the power cable to for powering the hard drive and keep the computer USB electrical load to a minimum.
All the advertised features of this drive are spot on. So there is no need to repeat what others have touted.
There are a few things to mention which might be helpful. I run Mac computers and this hard drive is very Mac-compatible. Just use Disk Utility to format the drive as OS extended or OS extended Journaled. And you are rigged and ready to store. The running light indicates the drive is spinning. After about 10 minutes of inactivity my drive goes to sleep and spins down so that there is minimal power usage which is especially important if you have it connected to your laptop on battery power. NOTE: Unplugging the USB power cable from the hard drive WILL NOT shut it down if the USB 2.0/3.0 cable is still connected. It appears that power will also flow through the communication data cable if you pull the power plug first. Maybe not such a good idea since they provide two cables for a reason. Plug in the Power Cable first, then the data cable. Use Eject Disk in your Finder window to unmount the disk and then disconnect the cables. For MAC the USB 3.0 feature and benefits are UNUSED right now. Mac computers are not yet configured with a USB 3.0 bus. But the Mac Pro tower can probably be configured with a PCI Express USB 3.0 expansion card to accommodate this faster transfer speed. I just don't know if the rest of the mother board bus speed can handle this 5 Gigabit/sec speed. Probably best to wait until Apple comes out with a box that has built-in USB 3.0 engineered into the machine's circuitry.
The 500GB hard drive is ideal for using with Mac's Time Machine for backing up your laptop and also for carrying large files such as high definition video clips from one desktop to another. For travel protection I purchased the CaseCrown Hard Case made specifically for this Transcend StoreJet portable USB hard drive. I highly recommend this "hard" case for anyone purchasing the Transcend hard drive to travel with. Its extreme protection for the drive. CHEAP too. Search it on Amazon.

Great Back-Up Drive for Anyone!! (one small issue) . $100 or so + real toughness + easy connection + fast downloading + decent space (500GB) + very small = terrific back-up drive! = get it!!
Small issue, however. The cord connection could be shorter (ok, for some this is a good thing), as you don't need it that far from your computer. Also the 'male' connector has a tendency to pull out too quickly if you move the drive and lose connection. Not a big thing, just don't move the drive.

awesome!!! . This product is great and easy to use!! I'm just a little disappointed that it doesn't work correctly as a storage device for my XBox 360 that I was trying to use it for---only allotted me 16 gig of memory instead of the full 500. I was hoping to have a "Super Storage Space" for my 360 but didn't work like I wanted it to. I have another one I'm going to try and use this one for my "TOTAL backup for ALL my computers" and electronic devices being the AMAZING capacity of this device. I would recommend to anyone looking for lots of storage space in a sturdy shell that won't take a lot of damage.
Great external drive . Just as described. Fast upload/download speed. Did quite a bit of research and am very happy with the purchase.
Transend 500GB . No complaints yet! Hooked it up, wasn't too interested in the supplied software, but I started loading data on it right away. I reformatted it NTFS for my personal likings. No noise, and doesn't get hot. I feel pretty confident in this product!
A good device! . I have this external for about 6 months. Works perfect so far. No complaints at all. Would probably buy another one, this one is already full, perhaps will get another of this rugged type with more storage.
Cons Review
Bad electronic connectors . I used this disk and the different one transcend disk (StoreJet 500 gb usb 2.0) during 1.5 years and it was terrible experience. They have bad USB connectors. SO, you are watching video or writing files and ops and disk was disconnected.
connecting, disconnecting....many times. It is frustrating. Now one is gone and I have the problem how to read my data....(Never will buy an external transcend drives.

Definitely not shock proof . I'm writing this review literally 5 mins after my drive fell on my foot ... not the ground, now the shock proof enclosure is ruined. And its the second one to go bad. I will stick to Western Digital, my old passport as been through a lot more and survived. This is a piece of crap and I will never purchase anything from Transcend again.
