it works ok but has issues . I put two 2tb drives in and formatted ext4 in a mirror. Data access has never been an issue.

As a flat out simple NAS it has good speed and works well for data storage. Where this falls down is the value added apps.

Youtube didnt work out of the box. Twonky server never worked either. I connected a printer to the USB port and that didnt work at all

I downloaded the latest firmware and that fixed the youtube issue.

I posted on their website and the tech there gave me a private build build of firmware to fix the printing issue.

Interestingly enough a week later it quit printing again, so I had to go back to apples bonjour printing which works with no issues (install apple software on windows to get it to print to a linux box)

Twonky media server is a cool piece of software, unfortunately it has never worked. There are several complaints on the forums about this and no resolution (I have a Sony BD player.) Would be very nice to have this working.

Instead I ended up buying a netgear neo 550 media player (it plays BD ISO's with menus)since the twonky player was useless.

Overall its a decent NAS, has good file I\O speed and works well as a basic NAS. The add-ons are problematic. I wish they would test them first before they make them available. Good ideas but execution is bad.

I rated 3 stars because the NAS does whats its supposed to do and share files. I am docking 2 stars as the other parts flat out dont work.

I will give cudos to the forum support at ReadyNAS as they do seem responsive.

Snuffy

QNAP 2-Bay USB 2.0 Portable Turbo Network Attached Storage TS-219P+ Reviews
The best NAS media storage and torrent download server . Excellent NAS server with a ton of features. The best Torrent download server combined with centralized NAS media storage for your home. As this is a Linux device there are numerous ways you can configure and customize this or add features if you are tech savvy.
The onboard CPU and RAM size is more than adequate for the job on hand. I never measured CPU more than 20% busy or RAM more than 60% occupied on this device. This being an ARM based CPU, the power consumption is really low. Well suited for 24X7 usage.
You would not regret this purchase
QNAP 2-Bay USB 2.0 Portable Turbo Network Attached Storage TS-219P+ Opinions
Solid Product . I've been using this NAS for 3 months now. This is the first NAS that I've owned and I couldn't be happier with it. The setup was pretty straight forward. I use it with both Windows and MacOS machines with no problems. I think this provides excellent performance and value for the price.
Great Product!! . I switch my old DNS-323 for this beauty and it's amazing how fast it is.
I had some problems at the begin because my HDDs won't hibernate but right now everything is working as expected.
Approved!!!
QNAP TS-219+ . Great NAS that works with vmware; was able to attach an NFS store, clone an existing VM and boot up in less than 10 minutes. Interface is amazing, great layout with too many features to mention. One thing I found cool is that it comes with no firmware, you load the firmware of your liking either the one with the bundled CD or direct from their site.
Excellent Home NAS - UPNP Media Center . I have a 219p and a 459 and at work we several 809, they have all had initial issues but are normally quickly sorted and have been very robust and reliable. Software upgrades are usually considered before they release updates and at home we use the upnp conector to stream music and video round the house to Apple devices Samsung, Dell no issues.
We also use the backup services and web hosting functions
I Highly recomend this product

Cons Review
works maybe until it upgrades to the newest firmware . My goal was to get a a high quality NAS to store data on our home network. Nothing too fancy, but it should have some safety (RAID 1) and save me the time of installing and configuring a small dedicated linux server. Additionally the savings in electricity as such a small box does not drain much power. So I was ready to pay the premium price for a two hard drive NAS from QNAP.Got the QNAP-219P+ two days ago. It is very well made, as one can expect for the price. At the same time I got two 2 TB consumer grade hard drives (Samsung and WD). Installed the hard drives, started up the NAS. The web interface looks great and I configured the two hard drives for RAID 1 (mirroring). Did also configure the network services for "Microsoft Networking", "Apple Networking" and "NFS Networking" (Linux), as I have all three types of computers on the network. I let the formatting/sync for RAID 1 run over night as I took about 6-7 hours. In the morning I was able to access the public NFS share over the network. Now the ugly part. When logging into the web interface, I was told that there was a firmware update available and if I wanted to install it. Sure, that's what one usually does if you get a new piece of hardware, right? Firmware (3.5.1 Build 1002T) gets downloaded, installed and the NAS reboots. The network share is gone. Looking in the web interface the "Mirroring Disk Volume: Drive 1 2" is "unmounted". Why? I cannot re-mount the volume. Clicked on "FORMAT NOW" or "REMOVE NOW" for this volume, nothing works. Then I go have a look into the "System Status" tab to understand what the problem is: "Loading data, please wait..." . After 15 min. the NAS reboots and still nothing is working. No chance to see what the system status is.
I try the "Restore to Factory Default" as a last resort. Accepts my command, then displays "Busy" forever (after two hours nothing has changed).I have no idea what the problem is. Maybe it's the NAS, maybe it's the hard drives. There is no error message, nothing. No way to re-mount, format, disconnect the volume or reset to factory default. The only thing the "System Event Log" tells me is that smbd and nmbd are restarting every minute. Which is not too astonishing as they have no volume to work on.So I got a nice $ 300 brick with blinking lights standing in the living room. Even if I get it back running I cannot trust it anymore... will this happen each time there is an update? Will send it back to Amazon. The two stars are for the built and the web interface. Guess if it works it can be useful.
Wanted a NAS that I could also connect directly to my PC . This is actually the 2nd NAS that I've owned - the first was a Netgear that I just stopped using, mostly because of the time delay that it took to move files from the NAS to whichever PC I was working with. In this day and age, maybe I'm a minority here, but I DON'T LIKE STREAMING! I don't want to have to wait on buffering. If I want to work on a video file that's on the NAS then that file needs to be copied to my local hard drive first. All this takes time. The network is not fast enough to keep up with my needs. So, I went out looking for a NAS that would also serve my local needs via USB/Firewire/esata - any of the 3. This NAS (the 219+) had dual esata connectors on the back so I thought it would meet my needs. Ordered it from Amazon, and it got here in good time. I wanted to use initially a couple of 2TB drives in it, but I didn't have any on hand, and discovered that my local vendor had jacked up the prices for those drives by 2 to 3 times their actual worth, using a flood in Thailand as an explanation. So, I used a couple of 1TB drives that I had laying around, and hope that there wasn't anything on them that I wanted to keep. The software to install the NAS is a pain - there's a quick install routine that pretty much has to be followed - instead of pre-installed firmware, it's installed from the DVD, and then it REPARTITIONS your Hard Drives without asking you ahead of time, so that if you did just want to see how it works you'd better make sure that you have no data on the old HD that you want to keep. That also means that you can't pop those drives out and use them elsewhere once they've been QNAP'ed.When I finally got the NAS to work I couldn't figure out why my esata connections weren't working. Since it was a new motherboard I thought maybe it was disabled, but nothing in the bios allowed me to enable it, so I even added a sata to esata adapter and the connection to the NAS still didn't work. So, I went online with the problem, and that's when I discovered that those esata connections in the back were only for additional external drives - NOT FOR CONNECTING TO PCs. Well, I still really wanted this thing - and who knows, maybe QNAP will provide an update that will allow me to hook it directly to my PC soon (QNAP - are you listening?), so I proceeded to back up my music library (about 30gb) to the NAS. 22 Hours!! It didn't really take that long, because at about the 18 hour mark I decided to put a halt to it, with an estimated 2+ hours remaining. If the NAS hard drive's were configured as NTFS or FAT I could pop them out, connect them locally, transfer the files, then put them back in the NAS, in a quarter of the time that it would take to send them across the network. Nope - they're configured as ext3 or 4.The bottom line is that this NAS will probably go the same way as my Netgear NAS - in the corner unused, because it doesn't do what I thought it should do. Should I return it - we'll see. I still have time.
Very limited support . Purchased one of these to store our company's data on it, in the hope of having such data secure and accessible. Less than 2 months later, the device totally failed. The company only offers refunds up to 30 days, but an RMA will take "at least 4 business days" plus shipping time on both ends. They also won't send a replacement in the meantime. Considering the whole purpose of the device was to have secure, available data, I'd say it's failed pretty miserably, as it'll now take at least a week to have it repaired/replaced.

I would personally suggest against the product/company, at this point. I guess we'll go back to WHS v1.
