Best of Both Worlds! . What happens when you combine the World's thinnest portable drive with Muvee Reveal software? You get the best of both worlds!

***Special edition Seagate Free Agent Go drive loaded with Muvee Reveal software!!******

I just purchased the Seagate Free Agent GO Ultra-Portable drive (500 GB) and absolutely love it. The first drive I ever purchased over 10 years ago was a Seagate and I've remained a loyal fan ever since. Consistent quality and innovation keep me coming back.
Small on size, but big on storage, the Seagate Free Agent Go drive is a small 4.72 in long x 3.15 inches wide to be exact. (And just .49" thick) I plugged the drive into both of my PCs (running both XP and Windows 7) and the installation software on the drive guided me through the simple setup. I also installed Muvee Reveal (contained on this drive) and I highly suggest you do. Muvee Reveal will change your life! I plugged in a couple of backup Seagate drives loaded with pictures and added about 100 of them to Muvee Reveal. Just 2 more steps to make your muvee!
Next I selected my music, and decided on one of the 10 pre-included styles which range from simple vanilla, smooth transitions to pulsing and thumping to the beat of the music, all perfectly synched. Imagine, your images on screen with pans, zooms, fades, dissolves and more special effects all set to music. Brilliant!! You can even add titles and credits! I made a muvee of our friends daughter in just 15 minutes! And with direct upload to Facebook and YouTube, you can share your home movies easily with friends and family. Or burn to DVD. What an amazing surprise and great gift for any occasion.
In conclusion, the Seagate Free Agent Go drive is truly "ultra portable", easy to use, durable, reliant, and includes Muvee Reveal software (which would normally cost about $80.00!!!) Look for specially marked Seagate units when making your purchase. I gave this Seagate drive to my dad who takes tons of pictures and doesn't know what to do with them all. Finally, something besides a tie for Fathers Day!

Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST905003FBA2E1-RK (Blue) Reviews
Good Large Drive for the Long Run . Pros -
Five Year warranty.
Ultra fast loading and thumbnail viewing with the USB 2.0
No noticeable delay for the drive to start spinning.
Small form factor.
Drive pre-loaded with drive management software.
Mine was also pre-loaded with free movie making software.
Works with XP and Vista.
No need for the dock, saves about twenty dollars.

Cons -
Transfers from a non-USB 2.0 computer take forever. 35GB of photos literally took 12 hours.
Sync software lets you choose the specific folder you want to sync, but not where the sync'd folder is on the drive.
Hard to be sure if the drive stopped spinning before disconnecting from an old computer. 'Remove safely' function became unresponsive, but no error on the drive.
Suppled USB cable is too small, under a foot.
500GB drive only has around 450 usable gigabytes.
External hard drive . Replaced my Simpletech with this. No problems so far starts up easily and has started up every time i have tried.
Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST905003FBA2E1-RK (Blue) Opinions
Nice Compact Style Don't Force Me to Install Software . I have purchased 6 or 7 for customers over the past year or so in various sizes and these drives seem to perform fairly well. The most current 500GB drive was DOA, but Amazon sent one out that day. I like the compact size and the speed seems to be adequate and about on par with most other external USB 2.0 drives. These are being replaced by the Flex series with USB 2.0 & 3.0 and SATA connections, but many people don't have the newer connections or don't want to have to buy the additional connectors.

My only knock other than the DOA unit is the autorun that tries to install the Seagate backup program. I have used the program and it again, is adequate, but let me decide if I want to install the software and let me have control over it. The most current version also has an embedded movie and the only way to remove it is to go to the Seagate site and find the removal instructions.

I used to highly recommend these drives and may continue to, but I think I will start looking at other options. There are several new models out from the major manufacturers, so there are lots of options out there.

Backup feature I need is not functional . The Seagate came pre-formatted with three partitions and had some proprietary backup software on the disk. I already use a backup software called "Bounceback Pro" that is capable of creating a mirror of my entire hard drive, including the zero track. When I tried to perform a system backup to the FreeAgent drive using my backup software, I received an error message that the disk had insufficient space. It looks like my software is trying to do the backup on the first partition it sees which is too small for the purpose.

Hopefully, I can resolve this issue with re-partitioning.
Nice Drive but Slow... . I purchased this drive at Best Buy to replace a failed 250 GB Verbatim portable hard drive I was using for backups for my MacBook Air. Once I got it home, I immediately erased and reformatted it for my Mac (it came Fat32 formatted for Windows). I then plugged it into my MacBook Air and had it do a 100% initial backup of the 27 GB on my internal HD. That backup took just over two hours. Best case, that comes out to just under 4 MB per second, or 32 Mb per second compared to the 480 Mb per second USB 2 specification.

The drive works fine, is quiet, and never got warm, let alone hot during the intense copying process, so will work fine for the every 10 day backup regimen I follow. I'm happy with the drive, but its performance is a bit mediocre. I seldom use the Air anymore anyway since I got my iPad.
Just what I was looking for! . I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a discrete and quite storage device.
Easy and reliable . This has been the first portable hard-drive that I have actually liked. It has great features but they do not detract from its primary purpose; data storage! It is well constructed and quiet. I will be sticking with Seagate for my future external HD needs.
Another great Seagate drive. . I have the 250 gig version of this drive and love it. This new drive is no different and a great warranty to boot. The slim form factor and light weight make it the ideal portable drive.
Works great . Works great, but comes loaded with a bunch of unnecessary stuff. Just re-format the whole thing and use it like you would any empty hard drive.
