Patriot Supersonic Flash Drive Is awesome The Patriot Supersonic Xpress 16 GB Flash Drive exceeded my expectations of download speed. I make backups of data that produces a 4 GB file. My USB 2.0 Cruzer took about 13-15 min. to do the job in a USB 3.0 port. The Patriot Flash Drive makes the backup in less than 2 min. Helps me finish my work and leave! It's a great investment at only $25.
Great speed and capacity iffy capless design First of all, this is the fastest flash drive I've owned so far. Keep in mind, to receive the fastest transfer speeds, you WILL need to have a USB 3.0 port on your desktop or laptop. However, it transfers files beautifully even when plugged in to a USB 2.0 port.This is probably not typical, but on my first major file transfer (several folders with video clips and other files amounting to about 13gb) I got speeds of 100mb/s which eventually slowed down to an average of 60mb/s. That's still a huge step up from the 2-5mb/s I would get with my old flash drive.About the capless design, it is okay but not the greatest. It uses a spring-type mechanism similar to the capless pens where you "click" it to open or shut it. It's definitely not worth making a fuss about, and other than that little detail, I can recommend this flash drive without any hesitation.
This is the most amazing drive I have ever owned. This thing can tell the future. The drive worked great until a few days ago. After it failed cataclysmically I formatted the drive to get it working again. After the format was complete I checked the drive to see if it was working, it showed that all but 3MB of space was used. I opened the drive and it had folders and files of ASCII characters in it with dates ranging from 1988 to 2149. Unfortunately it would not let me open the files or folders so I am unable to pass on future information at this time. It would not let me delete the files on the drive or format it. It told me that the files were write protected. My only disappointment is that I could not open the files and folder and see what the future holds for mankind. I like to think it was the winning lottery numbers.On a real note the drive worked well until it failed. I gave it 4 stars simply because the speeds did not seem to meet the description. It failed, when a manufacturer makes millions of a product its inevitable that some will malfunction. I returned it and will be purchasing another one.
