TS-119 Turbo NAS is QNAP's next generation one-bay Turbo NAS with iSCSI, especially designed for small business and home users who are eager for an extremely large storage center to store, back up, share thousands of multimedia files or expand the capacity of their current storage device. Combining the fashionably shiny design, the TS-119 takes the lead in the current small business and home NAS market with the outstanding specifications and performance, powerful all-in-one server features, high stability, and high reliability.Superior performance with abundant business features: Adopting Marvell 1.2 GHz CPU and large-sized 512MB DDRII RAM, the Turbo NAS maintains superior performance even when there is intensive access to the network services of the server simultaneously. The TS-119 also supports cross-platform service across Windows, Mac, Linux, and UNIX. Enhanced industry-leading features are also provided, e.g. built-in iSCSI target service, unauthorized policy-based IP blocking, instant SMS alert, schedule power on/ off, and two IP cameras for network surveillance. Maximize the enjoyment of your home multimedia center: The built-in UPnP/ DLNA media server (with TwonkyMedia enabled) of the Turbo NAS supports a wide range of DLNA media players such as Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming consoles and works well with NFS-supported High-Definition (HD) DMA for HD video streaming. By installing DLNA/ UPnP application on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can access the Turbo NAS on the local network and play the multimedia contents, e.g. videos, music, and photos on the server. In addition, the high-speed PC-less Download Station with the unique QGet utility enables you to manage the BT/ FTP/ HTTP download tasks remotely over the local network or the Internet. The TS-119 is the ideal multimedia and storage solutions to enhance your home entertainment experience.

Great little no noise low power no nonsense NAS but only for the technically inclined. . I mainly purchased this unit to run squeezeserver for my squeezebox, but liked the additional features and expandibility. I bought it with the WD 1TB green drive and so far there have been no issues. The unit is absolutely quiet (no fans!), does not run very hot, and consumes very little power compared to the 160W HP Slimline PC I use to serve from. I want to stress the fact that I am in the IT field, I am an A+, Net+, MCP, CCNA (cisco) certified technician and have worked with many different networking devices. This device is certainly not the most intuitive interface and it did take some time playing around to get squeezeserver to run properly and I would not recommend it for those who are not technically proficient. I also use some of the other features such as FTP, Web, AjaXplorer, File Server, Itunes server, Twonkyserver(to Xbox 360 and PS3) and plan on eventually using the surveilance station feature. The unit is a little bit on the expensive side, but it is certainly the best option I feel when comparing it to a home server or ReadyNAS unit. I did not opt to get the raid functionality of the TS-219, as I am planning to instead sync to an online backup RSYNC FTP site and/or use the one touch backup to create a copy of the data and take it offsite (to work!).

QNAP TS-119 1-Bay Portable Network Attached Storage Reviews
Best NAS to date . I have this NAS sitting behind my TV connected to my PS3 and XBox. It does everything exactly like I expected. It is quiet (only as loud as the HD you put in it). It uses very little electricity, perfect for replacing my PC behind my TV. I use the uPnP, PHP website, file server (for Windows); pretty much everything except the surveillance.

QNAP TS-119 1-Bay Portable Network Attached Storage Opinions
Swiss Army Knife of NAS . I was initially quite intimidated by this "everything you'll ever need in a NAS" NAS.
Rest assured, once you familiarize yourself with the documentation and the excellent online forum resources to identify which hardware model to purchase, you'll be a satisfied customer.
The newest firmware is also highly recommended.
Do take the time to visit their website and read the relevant information on the forums before making a purchase... you'll be much happier having the questions and knowledge addressed and accumulated before it arrives at your door.

Cons Review
stay away . I purchased a QNAP device for its ISCSI advertised feature. There is nothing in documentation, after 4 weeks of trying to contact customer support I have given up. On top of all, device is noisy for home use. I do not see a single redeeming feature, stay away. (one star is generous -- I have no option to give it a negative rating)
