in this case the brand name was worth it... . i have a panasonic toughbook, and those of you who owned one probably encountered the same issues i have with the usb not working.
MIS techies got it to work with other peripherals, but it just wouldn't accept the different usb key drives i bought from staples or the ones my friends gave me to try out.
finally the techies suggested to get a Sony drive for compatibility and performance, and it worked without any problems.
