Super Talent 16GB Express Duo USB3.0 Flash Drive, compatible to USB 2.0

It's Fast . My main reason for this was for faster file transfers (somewhat obvious I know). I have a USB 3.0 built into an Asus Sabertooth P67 Mobo and compared this drive to my Sandisk travel drive USB 2.0. I transferred a 2.4 gb folder of files to test the speed.

The SuperTalent drive transferred the folder to the drive in 2 min and 40 sec and transferred the same folder back to the PC in 37.8 sec.

The Sandisk USB 2.0 flash drive transferred the same folder to the flash drive in 7 minutes flat and then transferred it back to the PC in 1 min 53 sec.

So, obviously its faster. Sorry, I wasn't look for transfer rates or burst speed or anything, just a real life scenario so I could be sure it worked better than what I had. It was nearly 3x faster which seems definitely worth the money to me. So far its been great and it has a loop to attach to a strap or key chain or whatever you want which was an important aspect to me as well (and the main reason I got this one as opposed to other options).
Super Talent Express Duo USB 3.0 16 GB Flash Drive ST3U16EDB Reviews
Great drive . I was a little worried about the speed of this drive when I ordered it. I've been looking for a sizable drive that runs fast to use with my portable apps collection. I've bought what were supposed to be "hi-speed" drives in the past and been sorely disappointed. For the price I figured even if it wasn't fast it would be large enough to be useful elsewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first got the drive and tried copying some stuff to it and from it. I started off with a 4GB dvd image file, I was astounded at the speed even using USB 2. Windows reported write speeds starting out around 48MBs and leveling off around 31MBs by the end of the transfer. This is an amazing improvement over almost every other drive I've tested.

I did a side by side comparison with my Lexar Lightning drive and this drive wasn't quite as fast but close enough to be satisfied.

Then I realized that the new drive was formatted fat32. I reformatted the drive as ntfs and tested again, this time the drive performed just as fast as my Lightning, starting out at almost 70MBs (according to windows) and leveling out at almost 40MBs for a 4GB file.

My only complaint now is that the drive isn't as portable as I'd like. its thin and sleek and lightweight, making it likely that it wouldn't last long on my key chain. The "ring" on the back of the drive is just plastic and I'm sure it wouldn't take much for it to break off of anything I tried to attach it to. and lastly the cap just slides on, and will wear quickly leading to the cap just falling off when it feels like it.

I'm considering transferring the guts of this drive to a sturdier design for a case. maybe with a swivel or retractable cover model. For now it works fine on my desk.

Good deal . For around $30 it's hard to find a better deal than this. Oddly, the drive came formatted FAT32, so it wouldn't write a 6GB file! I re-formatted to NTFS, and after that the read/write speeds almost doubled, and there were no more problems with file sizes.

For some reason, putting a USB extension cord on my Asus USB 3.0 port reduces the speed to fast USB 2, about 33 MB/S. Connected directly, the drive goes well over 55 MB/s. No idea why, but it seems to write faster than it reads.
Works well . I bought a new Dell laptop with 2 USB v3.0 ports I wanted to take advantage of. This flash drive is my only USB v3.0 appliance so I can only compare it to the 6 USB v2.0 flash drives I already own. I didn't make any actual measurements of speed, but it is obviously much faster than any of my USB v2.0 appliances. Its even somewhat faster than my other USB v2.0 flash drives, when using it with USB v2.0 ports. The activity light is bright & can be seen from several sides, a feature I like. I'm not real pleased with just a cap to cover the contacts, I know I'll eventually loose it; not a good design feature. But, I'm otherwise happy with it.
Express Duo 16GB: Average Quality with Good Speed . I was impressed with the transfer speed of this drive, but not necessarily with the quality. I've been able to break the 100MB/s transfer cap easily with almost any file. USB 2.0 transfer speeds on this drive are also very nice, much faster than any USB 2.0 flash drive I've used.I'm not that disappointed with the quality of this drive (I love the color!) but I do wish the cap and rear clip were well-designed. The cap slides off a little too easily, and it could get lost if the drive was dropped or thrown (not that you throw flash drives every day, just sayin). The rear ring, while adequate, is not strong enough to stand up to heavy jerks or impact. However, it should be fine for everyday use, as long as the drive is not stepped on.Finally, the drive is NOT 16GB... or at least, not 16 real GB. Unfortunately, due to legal loopholes, a flash drive can be shipped with ~16,000,000,000 bytes, and marketing mooks will call that "16GB". However, this drive (like almost all others) cannot actually hold a 16GB file. I'm not taking points off for this because, sadly, all drives are like this (I would actually love to know about some that aren't! Comments?). To wrap up, I was impressed with the drive's speed, and build quality was average. I would think carefully about buying it again, given the choice, but it seems to be worth the money.
SUPERTALENT 3.0 16 GB . I purcahsed this super speed USB to evaluate a Linux Distro, "Ubuntu 11.10"
I was using a Lexar USB 2.0 and I was hoping the greater transfer rates from the 3.0 would improve the responsiveness of the Ubuntu OS, as it seemed to take forever to perform even rudimentary work in the Linux Distro.
While plugged into one of my dedicated 3.0 ports, my BIOS wouldn't recognize it as a bootable devise. Perhaps the original ISO was corrupted I thought or the boot loader was not present or corrupted too. So, I downloaded the identical ISO again and used "Universal-USB Installer 1.8.6.9exe" to transfer everything onto the SUPER*TALENT:the BIOS still wouldn't recognize it. So, I plugged the SUPER*TALENT into a USB 2.0 port and this time the BIOS 'saw' it and I was able to boot into Ubuntu 11.10.
I don't know why the machine will boot from a 2.0 but not boot from the 3.0.
As far as its read/write rates: measured with HD TUNE PRO it measured a 76.4 MB/s average read rate with 0.528 ms access time with a burst rate of 55.4 MB/s and a cpu time of 1.8%. I wasn't able to conduct a write test, but intuitively it seems very fast.
Test machine Dell XPS 8300 with RAID 0 configuration and 3.4 Ghz second generation Sandy Bridge processor.
Conclusion: excellent for portable storage and very quick transfer rates, but as to its use as a bootable devise, keep looking.
Two days later: apparantly NEC USB 3.0 Host Controllers don't support boot operations. I can't find much info about it, and also there doesn't appear to be any firmware update thaty can fix it.
My Best Flash Drive Yet! . I haven't conducted tests but this is definitely my fastest flash drive yet. Unfortunately I don't have a USB3 slot yet but it's much better than my other flash drives in my USB2 slot. I appreciate that there is an activity LED (I had an ADATA flash drive that did not - I pulled it out once while it was writing and lost the data). It is a solid little drive although the casing is made of plastic. I also like the color. So I would highly recommend this product!
Amazon's review ofSpeed and accuracy were a major purchase factor . The performace meets the vendor specification and really saves me transfer time especially when transferring large video or high resolution graphics. I purchased this as a test and the performance incented me to purchase additional larger storage models for my company use. I also appreciated Amazon's detailed shipment information and regular communication so that I knew when I would receive it. This was much better than other online companies
Nice . This is a nice little flash drive. It is a good size, it's fast, and it is reasonably well built. It is not, nor is it advertised as, rugged. However, for most people who aren't excessively hard on their belongings, it should do just fine.
I can't attest to it's performance with USB 3.0, but it is fast on 2.0.

Cons Review
Worked great for one week . Had decent USB 3.0 speed for the week it lasted. Used it 5-10 times and kept it on my desk and in a safe pouch in my laptop bag so it wasn't jostled and didn't suffer any kind of abrupt impact. One week later it stopped responding and wouldn't show up at all. Computer wouldn't even recognize a USB drive being plugged in at all. Tried on 3 different PCs in the house and one at work, dead. Seemed like it would be a decent drive but it felt very cheap, looked cheap and turns out is made cheaply.
