Works well . I purchased this reader with a combination of Kingston's SDHC card. I do not agree with that the memory card reader is a flimsy junk. It is plastic, so don't expect it last if you roll over with your car. It is not worse than a USB flash drive which is made of plastic (since most of them are). If you are a person who doesn't know how to take care of things, it will probably not last long. Just like you would not toss around your digital camera, this item meant to serve as a card reader and not a football, a frisbee, or a toy for your dog.
The card reader has a little blue light at the top and is blinking when data is being read. I find the reader great help, so I don't have to keep connect the cable to my camera, just pop the card out and read away. It supports different cards which is also great, but I only use it with SDHC cards.
You can pull out the little doors/protectors or whatever else you might wanna call it, both at the front and on the back, which will protect the USB connector and the card as well. This way you can easily leave a card in there while transporting it and it will be protected.
It is a great multi card reader for a few bucks.

Kingston Flash Card Reader MobileLite G2 USB 2.0 Multi-card Reader FCR-MLG2 Reviews
Convenient and fast - mounts as two drives - bonus cable! . I see that several other reviewers seem to think this item is "junk". My thought is that this device has a build quality that is "as good", if not BETTER, than similarly priced competing products. It works... fast and FLAWLESSLY. Given the ZERO shipping cost with Prime membership, I would honestly buy another one (if I lost this one).
PROS:
* No cap to lose!
* The reader has retractable doors on each end that slide-out to protect the male USB jack or any inserted memory cards. (Did I mention "no cap to lose"?)
* BONUS - It includes a short USB extension cable for hard to reach USB slots. (The cable is not depicted in the photo or mentioned in the description, but it was included when I selected Amazon as the seller).
* It mounts as TWO drives. You can insert an SDHC card AND a MicroSDHC card SIMULTANEOUSLY, and both cards are accessible.
CONS:
* Although it LOOKS like brushed aluminum, it's plastic (like most other portable readers in this price range).
* Slightly "bulkier" than some other options. (If you don't mind losing caps, or you can accomodate readers with "side" insertion slots, there are "slimmer/trimmer" options).

Kingston Flash Card Reader MobileLite G2 USB 2.0 Multi-card Reader FCR-MLG2 Opinions
Very portable and fast reader . We bought this reader to replace our MobileLite (1st generation). The efective size of the new MobileLite G2 is overall shorter, but a little taller and wider. The new G2 has a feature to hide the USB connector to avoid damage to it during transportation that is embedded to the main body of the product (works sliding it in for use or out for transport). I find this feature a lot better than the original cap design that may get lost easier. On the memory compartment, the same sliding design is available. Once the memory(ies) is(are) inserted, the sliding feature protects the memory card(s) from accidental removal or during transport.
The overall construction of the new G2 seems better than the 1st generation. I have only had it for 3 months and I haven't loaned it to anyone yet to really test the sturdiness. My 1st generation product got slip open (the carcass) exposing the electronics inside because while being connected to a side USB connector on a laptop it was hit from the side breaking the plastic cover. This seems more difficult to occur on the new G2 because it's wider body and case design.
This new MobileLite G2 accepts 2 memories at the same time (1 SD or SDHC and 1 microSD). They show in Windows and Linux as 2 separate logical drives. On Windows XP Professional I have found that if one slot is not populated with a memory card, Windows shows a "I/O read fault error" that the user has to dismiss. Not a problem, but just an annoyance. With Linux (Ubuntu 9.10) it is a plug-and-play device, it mounts automatically. Although, I have found that sometimes one of the slots is not mounted at the first insertion of the MobileLite G2 which is fixed removing the memory and re-sitting it in the slot.
The file transfers are very fast (as fast as the MobileLite 1st gen), of course it'll depend on the memory you have as well. Class 6 memories work awesome. I have tried memories up to 16GB with no problems.
On the down side (not much), i found a little difficult to remove the microSD card when the SD is inserted. If the SD is not inserted, it is perfectly easy. Diferent from its predecesor the MobileLite first gen there is no slot for a miniSD (but nothing that an adapter miniSD-to-SD can't solve)

Excellent for Memory Stick Pro Duo and SONY Cameras . I was surprised to read all the negative reviews for this little wonder, so I thought I would throw in my two cents...
The BIGGEST PRO that no one talks about: Memory Stick Pro Duo compatibility! I bought this reader to help me transfer pictures and video from an 8Gb Memory Stick PRO DUO (MSPD) (which is a SONY technology and less universal than your standard SD or SDHC format). Its hard to find a good, portable reader for this format, short of dragging your camera along just to access files.
To address the other reviews: Yes, this reader is made of plastic. Yes, it is very low cost. However, I do not feel it is as "cheap" as others have suggested. It has never had a problem reading any card I give it, and the sliding memory card doors actually add to the appeal for me. I can compact the reader and store it with my camera in the camera's small case. I don't have to carry a cable around to transfer photos whenever I want.
In the long run if you take care of your tech, your tech will take care of you. I have no qualms about suggesting this card reader to anyone. Kingston has my vote!

Reliable Economical Choice . I've had one of these for about five years, and it's performed exactly as I expect it to; easy to insert the card, easy connection to USB port. Purchased a second one so it can always live in my traveling briefcase, and I won't get marooned without one!
nothing special but does what it is supposed to do! . great for the price and does what it is intended to do! made a little cheaply but can't really can't expect more for the price!
Cons Review
No good after 1 month . while convenient, this SD card reader is very fragile. After only one month of use, it is already defective.
it is no more reliable than its previous version.

Junk . I got it because it was cheap. Well, you get what you pay for. It hasn't worked for me since day one. It actually ruined a few of my flash cards.
Surprisingly it is junk . I purchased this reader from another company for less than $7, no tax no shipping. Kingston products are usually so reliable, I was completely surprised that it is a piece of rickety junk. I tested it and it works, but I wouldn't expect it to last very long. I was planning to recommend it to a friend of mine who needs this product, but after receiving it, I would not do that. I'm glad I didn't spend very much money for it. It would have been great if it was better built.

Thumbs down!. Worked about ten minutes and died, no resuscitation. Would be cool if it worked. Light weight; small footprint, good price point, can be used with or without USB cable and portable.
How about a recall Kingston?
I did use Amazon's return button, no explosions, fire, or "your computer will selfdestruct in five minutes" warning. The button just worked.
