The bomb!! . perfect compact drive. light, tiny, fast, quiet, easy set up, backed up 180 gb of data on macbook pro in around 1.5 hrs using the usb2 connection, all whilst using avid media composer and another 2 tb external media drive ..... quite a bit going on simultaneously. comes with fw 400 & 800 options too. bus powered, great price, flawless integration with mac time machine. if you get this drive, definitely definitely buy the case logic 5.5 x 3.7 x 1.2 protective case for 10 bucks.... like it was built to hold this little beauty. i rarely write reviews but i thought this may help to ease the decision making pressure. overall an absolutely brilliant product.

Time Machine . Simply the best solution for my 27" iMac. Works so good. Just plug and play, no power brick, no problems what so ever

Happy with the purchase . I'm using the Firewire port on my MacBook Pro. I purchased the drive for storage of my regular photos and my PhotoShop creations. The data transfers have been smooth so far I hope that it continues. No problem with heat or noise from the unit. It came with 3 cables, two firewire, one USB. I'm happy with it.

Nice drive . This is a very nice drive. Have it hooked up to a MacBook pro and it's a nice looking addition. Small enough to not get in your way plus you have the option of FireWire or USB 2.0
Quiet, looks good, reliable. It's all you need. Costs a little more than some other drives but this is a quality made product. G-drives are great. I'd recommend any of their drives. Just remember you get what you pay for folks. This is a nice quality product. Get it.

No complaints . Shipment arrived much earlier than expected! I was a bit worried because the item in question was a G-drive, but it came days early properly packaged and in perfect conditions. No complaints here!
Nice and easy! . Very easy to use with my Mac Book Pro, just plug and you're set! So far so good. On the expensive side compared to other brands, but I was looking for reliability, esp when it comes to backing up the computer.
great for backing up data . This hard drive finally became one of my favorite back up portable hard drive since the last WD 1TB element I've used. I'm using an IMac and this drive connects with firewire 800 so the datas transferring much faster. It's quiet and that's the main reason i started to love to drive. Nothing much to say so far, but I really recommend this drive to anyone who is using Mac now.
Perfect for On-The-Road Data Transfer! . Quick little drive that I use for storing footage when shooting on the road for any film-making jobs I have. Very sturdy and works great!
A very good hard drive . I am using this drive to back up data from my Mac book. The set up is easy and the Time Machine ready feature makes it especially convenient. The drive is well build and fells robust.
great choice . i haven't really been able to use this to much. but the few times that i have it has worked perfectly. all the imputs work. the two 800 firewire plugs work perfect. you can hook up a second hard drive to this if you dont have an extra plug on your computer, it's fast, songs write really fast as well as pictures and videos. i use this for photography, my RAW files transfer with ease. only downside (which i dont really care about) is that the memory was not at 500gb but around 470gb's or so. again i rather it say what is actually has then have a fake rating and not know how much i have when i really need to. looks very nice and clean hopefully i dont drop or scratch it. plus it is low noise so i dont hear any writing when its running. overall a great buy and great price.
