Love it! . I have MacBook Pro and i needed an Apple compatible external data storage and 6TB was just perfect for my need, And when i found out about Gtech i was very pleased to know that its a Hitachi company! I love Hitachi and i never had a bad experience with any of its products, so i bought this drive unboxed it when it arrived and found 4 sets of cables 1 mini USB, 1 eSata, 1 FireWire 400, 1 FireWire 800 the drive was little heavy but still reasonable and made from high quality aluminum that matches Apple Aluminum color exactly i connected power and connected it by FireWire 800 to my Mac and pushed the Power button wow it popped on my desktop! I choose get info and there it was 6TB nice :) its really quiet no clicking sounds and very fast and it wont get hot i love it and it deserves 5 stars and the $700 i paid for it, I highly recommend it...

No Problems So Far! . I just received this drive a day ago, the only problem I had with it was formatting it! I called tech support, very professional, & talked me through the steps on how to have it reconized by my computer, which is a Windows 7. I have to say it's very fast, lots of space for storing most of my files, mostly video. Before, I was a Fantom, Iomega, external drive guy, but after researching the net for affordable external harddrives with lot of space, I have to say I found one. The G-Tech 6TB is the way to go. Great tech support, I would certainly recommend this to a friend, or anyone looking for an external hard drive, with speed, and lots of space.

Nice Unit . Really well made! I have this on my remote Linux home server for backing up my office server. It was easy to configure for non-Mac application. It's really quite and cool. Only complaint is the white LED is really bright at night...but is in my office so not a real big deal. Highly recommend.

clicking sounds . The drive is working fine but it's incredibly noisy for an external drive. Oh and it's making these awful clicking sounds. These are not just normal read/write sounds either it's loud audible clicking noise. Perhaps it' a defective unit? Either way I'm not happy about it.
Misrepresentation of Product . I was looking for a Raid 1 external hard drive and the product description said Raid 0/1. However, there is no Raid 1. Big misrepresentation.

It's dead Jim. . 1 day -- 1 stinking lousy day -- after the sellers return window expired the drive died.
Oh, it still powers on. And the discs still click like mad. But it won't mount and the system does not recognize that it is even there. The disc utility can't even see it. Goodbye to all the data I had backed up onto it.
Hitachi used to be a good name in hard drives. Apparently, they no longer manufacture products of the quality I was used to expecting from them.
