What is this "Akitio" company and how did they become so awesome so quickly? . Wow, I still can't believe what this small box can do. Just like their USB 3.0 dual RAID 0/1 box, it's barely bigger than two 3.5" hard drives!!! While I realize how much you can pack in a small space these days (like in my Moto Droid Bionic), it's amazing what that tiny mainboard at the back of the MyCloud Duo can do. I put two 5400 RPM quiet 3TB drives in (Hitachi in this one, WD in the USB 3.0 box). And other than the (expected) long time it takes to format as RAID 1, I can't believe that I have an ultra-quiet LAN and WAN cloud server for ALL of my files across two locations. I suppose when this one fills up, either I'll get bigger disks or another server, but 3TB will hold me for a while.Uploading and downloading files from across the country or across the room was easy and fast. The myakitio.com web portal makes it easy to share files with relatives who don't want to use or install any other personal WAN file sharing services like DropBox. One thing I'll have to think about is the name of my personal portal -- although it's impossible to guess, once you're at the login screen, the portal home page seems to reveal a bit more information about my local network than I'd care to share. But I certainly don't want to lose the cloud functionality. And keeping all of the iTunes and current videos on one device (one cloud) for the entire family... no matter where you are... it's a bargain at $150 and whatever drives you want to put in there.
