Very Nice Unit . I got this flash drive to replace an HP 16GB drive that was getting full. It is much faster that the HP drive I was using before (a quick test indicated about twice the speed, but I did not do a very extensive set of tests). The unit is quite a bit larger that I expected (about 3 1/2 x 3/4 inches), but the design is very robust. Since it is bigger that most USB flash drives, it comes with a USB extension cable that again is very well designed.

I bought this unit because I have to travel into some pretty harsh environments for my work and reviews of this model at a smaller storage size were favorable. If you need a USB flash drive that you can take into the field with you and know that sand and water will not harms your drive, then this is a good choice.

Also, while the information provided in the Amazon description does not mention it, the drive supports both USB 2.0 and 3.0.

Corsair Survivor GTR High Performance 64 GB USB 2.0 Ruggedized Aluminum Flash Drive CMFSRA64GBGT2 Reviews
Followup Corsair 64 GB flash drive on 10/07/2010 . even though I read the reviews it's a little bigger than I thought it would be. I have used coarser drives for some time. The speed of retrieving data and saving data is excellent. I would highly recommend this product.SEE BELOW NOT RECOMMENDED:

Follow up 10/07/2010 ALL CONS NEGATIVE - Took this on a recent trip. When arrived found that it was recognized by my laptop but no data was available. I lost a lot of data. This was the first corsair that has failed. Both the top and the usb connector were loose. A would stick to the shorter and more solid corsair drives.
Another reason is that my bag was examined after going trhough exray related to the physical size of the drive. I would stick to the shorter corsair drives which havew lasted for years for me.
Have not contacted corsair or my computer tech for refund and recovery of data respectively. Peter
Good product . It has really solid body and fast data stransfer!
But it has also a big dimension
Corsair Survivor GTR High Performance 64 GB USB 2.0 Ruggedized Aluminum Flash Drive CMFSRA64GBGT2 Opinions
USB Drive or Self Defense Device? . The Corsair Survivor GTR is ridiculously large in size. Bigger than most LED flashlights and keychain Mace sprays. The supplied USB pigtail is an admission of excessive size, because the Survivor drive is so large, it is likely to stress most USB connectors.I don't get the supplied embossed metal dog tag. This is definitely not the USB flash memory to purchase if you want to carry it in your pocket. The memory stick itself screws inside a waterproof aluminum tube, but the stick is a full length fit and just as cumbersome as the pictures suggests.I can forgive a little of the extra size, but the inclusion of almost mandatory accessories (the pigtail cable) makes this device something to avoid. Keeping track of loose parts makes it more trouble than it is worth. That said, I am keeping mine because it will live in a repair kit loaded with software I use to troubleshoot company computers which I administer. But the package arrived open, indicating it was returned by someone else, likely because they recoiled at the extremely large physical size.BTW - Rugged? Not so much. The aluminum tube into which the memory stick screws seems more like extruded thin wall aluminum more than CNC machined. With the memory stick removed, I am convinced I could distort the case by pinching between my thumb and index finger. This is something designed to withstand being dropped, perhaps, but not something that will take serious abuse like getting rolled over with a desk chair.
A bit slow . This drive is big and handy, but it is a bit slow writing. Love the package!

Cons Review
rugged but gets ugly . the "GT" version is an extremely fast and reliable memory chip version and the product's weight and size are just fine for carrying it daily in your pockets. it is not meant to be carried in the heat of your trouser/pant pockets because the outer rubber bands (rings) will loosen and fall off after 1 week. also note that the whole product, excluding all 3 rubber parts, is glued from 5 parts even though the fotos suggest 2 parts. reviews and tests on the WWW reveal that the parts of the survivors fall off (glue!) if you shock it too hard on the ground. i must admit that 1 survivor GT died on me after falling from 3 feet height, which means that the survivor is sensitive to shocks (but not sensitivie to water, heat, and pressure). my advice: dont let it fall on the ground! and if you do wear it in your pockets with a key ring and keys, you'll experience a lot of wear and tear, especially at the rather soft hole; let's be technically clear, the material (Aluminium) is soft such that you can easily scratch it (let it fall on the ground..) and that the hole show wear and tear after a very short time. And eventually the hole would break through. here my advice: use 2 key rings, 1 small, 1 standard sized. this way you take off much stress from the hole, and thus wear and tear will progress at a much slower pace. also note that the 2 outside stickers and the 2 black rubber bands (rings) will fall off too, give it 3 months in your pockets. The 8GB "GT" was an early draft and the best product of its kind when it was released. The today's 64GB "GT" has a little improved form factor (design) but you should seriously look into the competition, e.g. LaCie's ExtremKey which is bulkier and much much heavier (and not very suited for pant pockets) but which has an overall better build quality: the wall thickness, the material used, and the design of the hole. check out some fotographs of the "GT" after having carried in my pockets for a while along with regular keys. If i could turn back the clock, i would probably not have bought this product again; so yes, i regret the purchase. but i also must admit that it was way cool to see *every* friend being amazed by this design of a usb flash drive. They thought it was a mini tube bomb :D
Before buying the Survivor or the "GT" consider similar rugged usb flash drive products such as the LaCie XtremKey 64GB All-Terrain or the A-DATA S805 32GB Sports Series (grey or red). good luck with your purchase decision!
