Cons Review
What a useless product . Needed some easy storage that didn't consume 100-200 Watts. This unit consumes 17-24W. Seemed like a great idea.
Got the box, read the manual, cool, in has a webserver in it too, now I can get my tunes from work or home.
Only the webserver is lame, AND the disk can't be setup with any permissions. Seems like there is only one share and you can only control permissions on a per share basis. Any user share you create, well, it isn't on the 923GB partition, its on a 3-4GB partition. So I email tech support, 48 hours later, a response that reads:

There should not be a way to create shares anywhere but on the main partition of the drive. There are other partitions on the disk but none that you should have access to via the firmware.
What model number is this LinkStation, exactly? On the original EZ it was not possible to create shares. You could make other subfolders within the main "share" but beyond that there were no real configurability options for adding other shares or managing permissions to them. The newer series LinkStaton EZ should have a bit more in the way of options.

So I responded with all the model/serial #'s on the bottom of the unit. I sent a second message 2 days later. Now it is the Friday after the Monday of their first response, and still no follow up to my 2 replies. So I returned the unit. Don't waste your time with these guys. It isn't bad manufacturing, its bad engineering and abysmal support. The manual shows creating shares with permissions, but obviously that was a mistake by the tech writer, who like me couldn't understand the fact that this NAS device had no features.
