almost one year and going fine . I have two of these memorex jumps "thumbdrive." Both have worked fine and taken a lot of abuse as well!To the reveiwer below who had trouble with their USB, perhaps you a a newbie. I suggest you check your machine. I have used a dozen different brands (memorex, sandisk, lexar, etc) and never had trouble with a single one or machine pc or mac, usb 1, 1.2 or 2.0 and any drive. perhaps you twisted it while taking it out.In any case memorex support is great, I had one drive I crushed in a door (my fault and a strong enough impact to also destroy may car alarm gizmo) and they sent me a new one! I have had otehr brands (ironically the lexar "sport"), where the keychain holder broke, memorex is actually more study than most)Memorex jumps are also true usb 2.0 and there are a few cheap ones that aren't.
Memorex 256MB TravelDrive USB 2.0 Flash Drive ( 32507725 ) Reviews
Good portable storage device . I bought Memorex TravelDrive 256MB last year and used it for about 10 months, and there wasn't really any problem.
People below talks about broken key rings, but I can't really comment on them since I use it with neckstrap.
My one complaint is that the snap of write-protector feels very vague sometimes, but it is not a big deal at all.

good . I have found that it is a reliable thumbdrive. and it did go through the was and cam out perfectly fine.

my problem with this drive is the cap. not only does the key ring break easily, and the cap lose easily.. i found it rather silly to put the key ring on the cap. if the drive falls out of the cap you have the cap, i would much rather loose the cap then the drive.

its a good deal for the price.
The Only Thumb Drive with a Useful Write Protect Switch . This is the only USB flash drive I have seen with a useful write protect switch. The switches on other drives are too small. One even requires a pen point or the end of a paper clip to operate it.

It's very useful for encrypted password files, when you want to be certain nothing gets added to your drive.
My daughter's Travel Drive . I bought it because Memorex claims that it is Linux compatible. It works great with my daughter's Slackware.

Fairly good but... . This little flash drive works well. The locking feature on the back is pretty nice to have. It transfers data fairly quickly in a USB 2.0 port. I was able to copy about 181 MB in about 1 minute, reload it on another computer in about 2 minutes and delete it in around 30 seconds. The one and only problem I have with it is that it has a hard time plugging into the back of some computers due to the way it bubbles out for the little thumb grip. Even though it will plug into the back ports on a computer, it will sometimes cause the mouse or keyboard to unplug.

Also, the cap stays on fairly well and it can handle a lot of shock. I have accidently fallen on it when it was in my binder and all that happened was the cap came off, the little metal part that plug into the USB port bent a little, but it still works fine.

I have had it for over a year now and fairly happy. The actual memory of it since it needs room for the software to install it on other computer is around like 220 to 230 MB of usable storage. Perfect for anyone who doesn't have a boatload of information to put on it.

When it is plugged into a USB port on a certain computer for the first time it takes about 30 to 40 seconds to install the software that allows the computer to read it.

Cons Review
Worst product to ever buy . This is the worst flash drive ever someone can buy. I bought two of them for my personal use and both of them failed to work between USB2.0 and USB1.1. I've two computers at my home with one being USB2.0 and the other one being USB1.1. This flash drive miserably failed to work. Every time, I switch between the USB systems, the flash drive would have to be formatted. This is more nuisance then ever.I would never by a flash drive from Memorex ever in my life and I would certainly inform my friends about the same.If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at prsiva@hotmail.com
drive works fine but cap broke too soon . One of the reasons I chose the Memorex over some other options (like the comparably priced SanDisk for example) was because I wanted to put it on my keychain rather than risk losing it or having to put it around my neck. I've had the drive less than three weeks and the cap is already broken-- it came right off my keychain. I didn't abuse it or toss it around or step on it or doing anything extraordinary. And it's less than 3 weeks. Very annoying. The drive itself I haven't had problems with, though.
It was great until it stopped working properly . I've owned this flash drive for about a year now and it worked great until about 3 weeks ago. Then for some reason it wasn't recognized by my computer. At first I thought it was a problem with the computer, but when I tried my sister's flash drive, everything was fine. I tried it again on another computer, same story. Frustrated, I forced it in and voila! the computer recognized it. I shook my head in disbelief. The only way a computer would recognize it was if I forced it in? And it wasn't as if I had abused it; I hadrarely used it except for transferring work to different computers. Now I don't bother using it unless I absolutely have to because in order for a computer to recognize it I have to force - and hold - it upwards in the USB slot. If I let go, the drive disappears. It gets very annoying. I haven't had any problems with the cap, just its being recognized. I'm going to look into buying another flash drive.
