Cruzer Slide 2GB
This review is from : SanDisk SDCZ12-2048-A11A Cruzer Slide 2 GB USB Drive
SanDisk's 2GB Cruzer Slide - One of the better USB Drives but step up to 8 GB . This Cruzer Slide design has apparently been around for a while, but of course I tried every other one under the sun before even finding out about it. From the Kingston Data Traveler to the Sandisk Cruzer and Cruzer Micro to a bunch of other brands, I have had tons of these things. And this Slide design has a lot of positives.
This guy has 2, 4 and 8 GB sizes. 8GB is kind of the minimum size I would purchase at this point, since like I said I have a ton of smaller ones. This guy has a bigger case than I would like, especially with all the smaller drives out there now.
The attachment ring is really nice. It's big enough to easy hook it on to something. I really hate trying to attach my sticks to key rings with the really small holes that are on most drives. That's the main issue I have with the Kingston 8GB DataTraveler.
Like the Cruzer Micro you don't have to worry as much about losing the cover SanDisk 8 GB Cruzer Micro. There's still a chance of getting dust in it. Kingston also makes some retractable USB models as well, but in general I still prefer SanDisk.
Kingston DataTraveler 100 8 GB
Kingston DT100/8GB Data Traveler
Pros:
+ The attachment ring is great for easily hooking on to stuff - no fumbling with key rings
+ The slide-back top is also nicer than those on other thumb drives because it can't be lost
+ Nice capacity options offer good storage
+ Nice color options for different tastes
+ Durable body and NAND memory stands up to a lot of abuse
+ Compatible with old and new Mac and PC Operating Systems (XP, Vista, OS X)
+ USB 2.0 connection is backwards compatible for older computers
+ Easy to format and enable encryption to protect your data
Cons:
- Personally I'm not crazy about the U3 software on Sandisk USB drives
- Bigger case than other drives
- Not as attractive as the Sandisk Cruzer Micro
- Still somewhat slow speed in copying large files, limited by USB transfer rate
- Prices are still relatively high for this drive
Overall this is a great USB drive with good capacity. If you need something you can easy attach to key-chains and don't mind a slightly larger body, this is the one for you.
Enjoy!

SanDisk SDCZ12-2048-A11A Cruzer Slide 2 GB USB Drive Reviews
Stylish and no cap to lose! . I bought this as a result of losing another flash drive. I loved the form factor because there is no cap to lose, just a piece of plastic that slides over the USB connector when not in use. Furthermore there is a nice ring to grip/play with, though I imagine it's really made for attaching to key chains or something similar.
I haven't managed to lose this one yet, so that's always a plus. I have not done any formal testing of speed, but it seems zippy enough.
One minor annoyance is that, when connected to a Mac at least, you have to eject two things before removing it. The first thing to eject is the software that autoexecutes (U3 I think it's called) and the second is for the volume/device itself.
Update June 2, 2009:
A big pain with this product is that it's very wide. In my case that means I can't plug anything else into an adjacent USB slot on a unibody Macbook. I don't know about other manufacturers. I'd probably dock it half a star because of that.

SanDisk SDCZ12-2048-A11A Cruzer Slide 2 GB USB Drive Opinions
Built like a tank . After losing an untold number of thumb drives, I finally came across this design. The large ring is sturdy, the black slide cover is some sort of indestructible engineering plastic, and, well, that's really all you need to know. It's simple, it's solid, and it works. It's been banging around on my keychain for almost two years now, and it's still going strong. Mine came with some lame PC security software, but my Mac had no problem wiping it clean. I keep my actual files encrypted (use TrueCrypt - it's free and powerful), but anybody who finds my keychain will find one readable file: a text file with my name and phone number, and an offer of a reward for the finder. (This alone is reason enough for putting a thumb drive on your keychain, especially if you have one of those $200 car keys!)

Love the physical shape hate U3 flaky behavior died in 13 months . I bought this back in January 2009 along with the Pivot Flash Drive USB 2.0 ([...]). The Pivot has performed much better than this Sandisk. The Sandisk came with annoying U3 software and stubborn partitions which required downloading a special utility from the manufacturer's web site to remove. The stick performed pretty well on my Windows XP Professional home computer, but never worked on Windows XP embedded at work. It was very flaky on my Windows XP 64 desktop at work, frequently causing the entire file system along with any window (explorer, cmd shell, save as) dialog waiting on file I/O to hang until I abruptly removed the stick. Eventually the stick developed errors causing simple file copy to/from it to hang forever on one of my TrueCrypt file archives. I finally threw it into the E-recycling basket.
The Pivit is still going strong, works on all the above platforms I mentioned above, never hangs the file system, and doesn't cause some platforms to freak out when attempting to install drivers upon first connection.

MEMORY ON THE GO... . THIS LITTLE THING IS A LIFE SAVER... WHEN THE PRINTER GIVES ME PROBLEMS, I POP THIS IN AND PRINT ELSEWHERE. ALSO GREAT FOR SCHOOL REPORTS WHEN WORKING AT SCHOOL AND AT HOME, IT KEEPS EVERYTHING TOGETHER.
Sandisk is losing its edge . Th basic concept of a slide down porector of the USB connection is reasonable, but it feels pretty flimy for a Sandisk product. Also, beware the width as it might make it hard to plug in other USB devices where the connections are close. Finally, as is the way now, they are loading their products with more and more software, using room and making them harder to use at times. If you just want a thumb drive that stores your documents they are harder and harder to get. Nothing really bad to report though - it hasn't lost any files or broken, so just middle of the road.
This Flash Drive is not Tough Enough . So Warning, this flash drive Burned out After I had it Plugged in for more than 8 hours.
Good not great . This has solved the major problems I've had with flash drives. I travel from school to school so the big issue has been on occasion leaving the flash drive in some random computer. I can't do that when it is attached to my key chain. Need my keys to leave. No more losing the cap, either from forgetting or it coming off in my purse. Also appreciated is the fact that the ring is not flimsy and will stay on the keyring. The only problem I have with this product however, is that the sliding cap makes the device too wide to plug into some towers and I have to reach around the back of the tower to find other options. I can live with that given the positives mentioned above.
Perfect for key ring . This is exactly what I was looking for. I have been through two of those tiny pico drives that both broke off my key ring. This one is more robust and I no longer have to worry about it breaking off. I think the most convenient place to carry a portable thumb drive is on a key ring because I always have my keys with me.
Cons Review
Software in a USB means bad compatibility . When I want a thumb drive I want it to just store data otherwise it is very likely that it won't work on some machines, which is what happened to me. It didn't work on Ubuntu.
