baad little brick . Welcome to quality storage. Dollar for dollar I couldn't find a better unit spec wise, and was not disappointed with the unit. The box may scare you with the 1T sticker; it's 2T but comes set up RAID1 so only 1T will show up as capacity on your computer (safely mirrored). You could get 2T in RAID 0 of course, but lose the safety: sort of the purpose of a multi-drive system. I clocked the read/write speed @77.5MB/s and 64.8MB/s respectively (Aja system test:it's free-those guy's rule) using firewire 800, since my 13'' Macbook Pro has no e-sata. That's 97 and 81% of max transfer of the cable, so I don't know how much more speed you could get in RAID 0. Decide before loading up, because though it's super easy to change between RAIDs (with the external switches), you will LOSE ALL data when it reformats to the new choice. Add the fact that it comes with ALL the cables it can connect with, and now I own one. Fan could be quieter, sitting next to the laptop, but it HAS a fan (huge factor if your doing long hours, say editing video) and stays cool. Hope to expand to the 2T/4T max storage as the needs demand. Now, back to work...
