LaCie WriteCard 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive with Pen and Notepad 131058 Reviews
Yep it's a flash drive yessireebob . To get an idea for the thickness of the black plastic card, it's about the width of three credit cards stacked. I'll probably never use the little notepad and pen; I bought it because I was tired of flash drives hanging from my key chain breaking off.

The drive comes formatted FAT32 and works just about as you'd expect. My 5-year-old Macbook has trouble reading it unless I apply pressure on it while it's plugged into the USB port, but I think that's a function of my old laptop just having an old, sloppy port. It works fine on the two other machines that I use frequently.

Cons Review
LaCie WriteCard not dependable . I just bought one of these (I found it elsewhere before I realized Amazon carried it) and I'm not pleased. The most important feature would be the USB drive. I've already found it doesn't make contact very well. Once you jiggle it into place it seems okay but I'm testing it on a stationary PC and have a suspicion it might not stay put well on a moving laptop. The other thing I have a problem with is that there's no indication of which way you need to insert it. I think that's a feature of this type of drive though; any drive without a casing would have that problem.

The other problems I have are that the little pad is ridiculous. I understand it's hard to fit a pad into a wallet-sized case but why bother. Once you've used it, the pages start to curl and it's very hard to put it back. Also where would one get a replacement pad? If one wanted to. The pen fits in like a stylus on a PDA. Only it's smaller (needs to be in the wallet-card footprint) and although it works, it's super hard to hold, at least for me.

I'm disappointed but I think I'd expected too much of it (maybe attaching too much reliance on the LaCie name). I wanted a medical emergency wallet card but this obviously isn't it. It's not really worth returning so I may use it as a redundant backup but I won't count on it. Meanwhile I'll continue my hunt for a reliable, universal USB wallet emergency card.
