Exactly what I needed . I found the usb 2.0 version at best buy for around $79. However I wanted to take advantage of the usb 3.0 so I bought the extra 3.0 cable as well. When I got home I realized that the extra $20 usb 3.0 cable is less than 2 feet long and it can only be used as the cable. The dock system is still only usb 2.0. So I returned it at Best Buy and purchased the full on usb 3.0 version here without having to buy an extra cable. This is a great drive to take with you. The carrying case is easy to fit into your coat pocket or small bag. It is probably one of the smaller magnetic hard drives out there right now even significantly smaller than the non-PRO version. Its 7200RPM spin allows for fast access and for a travel drive that I use when I fix peoples computer I would never need more than 500GB at this time. It has seen daily use since I received it in the mail and has shown no signs of failing.

Great little hard drive . I purchased this hard drive for extra storage with my new laptop that had a solid-state hard drive. Having the USB 3.0 connection was great for stroing my movie collection on the hard drive and transfer files back and forth for when I needed it.
The dock is a nice addition, and you get both the dock with the USB cable, and an extra cable to take with you when on the go. The package also includes a nice slim carying case that holds the drive and the cable, making transporting the drive a breeze.
The overall performance has been fine and I have not had an issue with it. The speed is noticably faster than USB 2.0.
I personally don't like "free" software that comes with hardware, so I reformatted the drive when I first got it and have not had any problems with the drive at all.
I specifically picked this drive because of the faster 7200 RPM drive inside; I was dissapointed that the maximum drive size was 750GB. I was hoping for 1TB or larger in my external drive, which is why I am ranking it 4 stars.
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase, and would recommend this to a friend.

Cons Review
Accompanying software hogs CPU . While the HD works nicely when in use, the accompanying backup software hogs 14-30% of my i7's CPU power while it is *not* backing up (supposedly monitoring changes to the files on my computer, an hp 8540p). Restarting the computer from sleep mode take at least a minute when the Seagate software is running, compared to one second otherwise. The backup software seems to slow down just about every single process on my computer. When I disable the software, my computer runs just fine. When I restart the Seagate backup software, Seagate tells me the backup is up to date, but the backup date it gives me tells me it isn't. The software is not checking as to what needs to be updated in the backup (let alone do a backup). Finally, when I choose 'verify' the backup, the software spends an hour on my USB 3.0 port to verify the 150GB backup, including backing up what has changed from a week ago. --- Very dissatisfied with what turns out to be unusable software.
