Cheap and reliable... what more can you ask? . I have two of these units connected to my media server at home, each with a mix-and-match of drives. I'm not using any of the RAID functionality, I just wanted the ability to have a bunch of drives connected to the computer via one eSATA cable. Using it as such requires zero setup... just pop some drives into the enclosure, plug in the eSATA cable, and your drives will appear on the system. Simple.
Speed is excellent, easily holding 80MB/s on large file transfers.
Stability is also excellent. I realized recently that I haven't rebooted my media server in over 6 months and I'm moving data around on there every single day.
I can't speak for the quality of the RAID implementation on these enclosures, but the basic functionality has exceeded my expectations. I have a Drobo S at work that I'm ready to toss out a window because they just can't get the eSATA connectivity right. Check out those reviews and you'll see what I'm talking about.
