Works just as I wanted . I have LG 47LW5600 smart TV and I am using Cisco E4200 Router for my home. E4200 has USB connection at the back side to support USB server system but it just does not work very well. (Long story to tell but it does not work well anyway).

So, I purchase Go Flex 2TB (Seagate) NAS and connected it to E4200. That support UPNP so my LG TV can access to it without problem and streaming movies quite well. But, copying tons of data into that NAS from my main desktop computer freezes the NAS quite often.

So, finally, I decided to test LG NAS N1A1 on the exact same setting and system. IT JUST WORK GREAT!

After setting up the initial things for the NAS, I just needed to open forwarding ports at the router to enable HTTP and FTP access for my smart phone and web browser.

I copied around 100GB data at once into LG NAS and it copied them all at once around 26MB per second.

And plus, I got my personal domain which is from lgnas.com. It is another great thing to have. I can access my NAS from office by using internet browser and can upload/download data. I also can do same thing from my IPhone (uploading/downloading pictures and movies that are stored in my IPhone).

Simply, it is working great so far without any issue. I may need more time to make sure this is working fine but this LG NAS is so far way better than other NAS or USB drive that I have tried.

I am happy with it and recommend to others if you have LG TVs. :)
LG Super-Multi Network Attached Storage N1A1DD1 Reviews
Excellent NAS drive!!! . PROS.I bought the LG NAS N1A1 for the main purpose of setting up a shared server in my home while allowing people to access it remotely. I got just that. It was extremely easy to setup. I plugged in the cables to the appropriate places and turned it on. That's it. It comes with software, to detect the drive, but I didn't use it. I'm am in the networking and IT field and I am pretty confident setting up such networks, so I didn't use the software for that. However, the software was definitely useful when setting up users with their unique User IDs and passwords. This can be done without the software, however, it may as well be done the easy way. I expecially enjoyed the fact that I could set permissions to the folders so that only certain users can access certain files. Now, my wife and I can read and write to all of the folders while people accessing the drive remotely can only see the public folder that I made. Very awesome. The software is also useful for beginner users, for it is a web-based software that allows you to view all of your files on the drive and read and write to them. As you can imagine, this takes a while. The best thing to do is to map a network drive to the folders and copy and paste. It cuts out the middle-man (software) when transferring files back and forth.I have not used the backup tool yet, as I like to perform my own backups manually. I will probably try it one day though just to see how it works.I have not used it much with my PS3 yet other than to connect to it and make sure the PS3 found it and could access the files. It did with no problem at all. My wife and i put all of our music into the '\services\itunes' folder and now we can access ALL of our music by connecting itunes to the LGNAS. Excellent feature. The final thing that I can brag about is the USB port on the back. I plugged my printer into the LGNAS and searched for it on the network on each computer and, BEHOLD, a networked printer. The port can also be used to expand the storage capacity (by pluggin in another external drive. I have not used that yet bc 1tb is plenty of space for me. However, I am planning on trying to plug in a USB splitter so i can keep the printer plugged in and connect other networkable (new word I just invented) devices. Not sure If that will work, but I don't see why it would not.CONS:The remote access software, while effecient and extremely easy to use, can be a little touchy. It still functions but it could have been designed a little better. It gets the job done though with minimal headache. The drive really only had about 788gb of space on it out of the box. I'm not sure what that is all about but is should be advertised as an 800gb harddrive and not a 1tb harddrive. There is a beeping that occurs everytime the harddrive refreshes itself. It plays a little 1second jingle when it stops and then plays another 1second jingle when it starts up again. So far, I have not been able to turn it off. I have searched the setting far and wide and have come up with nothing. Luckily, it is in the office which is downstairs and we spend most of our time upstairs.Overall, I would definitely recommend the LG NAS N1A1 to a friend (and already have).
LG Super-Multi Network Attached Storage N1A1DD1 Opinions
Good but can be better . I have been using it for about a month. I connected it to a Cysco-Linksys WRT110 router. My laptop (Dell, Windows VISTA) is accessing it through wireless connection.PROS: Relatively cheap
Installation is straightforward
QuietCONS: Came with out-dated firmware/UI
(wasted time to upgrade it but was easy)
Impossible to upload a directory through web interface
(possible with windows file-sharing)
Slow (may be a problem of the router?)
I couldn't use it with iPhone UI, although the User's manual says it is possibleOverall good. If I can get a new web interface with which I can upload a directory, it will be better.
Set Up Seamlessly Worked Perfectly Right Out of the Box . This drive set up beautifully. No issues, three different users on three different computers accessing the drive through a wireless router. This product set up easily out of the box with no calls to tech support necessary what a wonderful unique experience.

Cons Review
What a joke - Correct me if I am wrong . PROS
"Relatively" easy to set up if you download the latest software (firmware) and the online user manual. Go online for guidance. DON'T TOUCH THE SOFTWARE AND MANUAL INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE. (NOTE: You will have to flash the drive to use the latest software - again follow the instructions online from the LG website.)
Great online access feature via the lgnas.com feature where you can log to your NAS drive from the internet. However the File Transfer is a joke (see below)
The Network Printer feature is nice if you only want to print (details below).CONS
My program CD came with a totally outdated manual and the N1A1 with totally outdated firmware. What a waste of time filled with aggravation.
The manual is written in what I interpret to be Korenglish (a mixture of Korean and English). VERY POOR AND DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND.File Transfer
LG markets the N1A1 as a Network Attached Storage (NAS) system so one would expect that it would be easy to transfer files and folders using the LG Network Storage interface. BUT NO!!! The file browser (AjaXplorer*) only allows you to transfer up to 256 files at a time and you can not transfer a normal file folder with its content. As an alternative you can zip all your file folders. This will work if their size is less than 2GB. Consequently you will have to split all your directories in My Documents up in zipped pieces if you plan to access them via the LG Network Storage interface or copy 256 at a time and at the same time have to zip any subdirectory that you may encounter in your file structures.
Perhaps LG will come out with an improved AjaXplorer some time in the future but in its current form IT IS USELESS for all practical purposes.
UPDATE
Chris, in the comments below, pointed out an excellent solution for transferring files when you are on the network. From "My Computer" map the two LG drive partitions so they show up as drives on "My Computer".
How: Tools, Map Network Drive, Browse for the LG drives, enter your LG Username and Password, remember put a check mark in Reconnect at Log-on box.
Now you can transfer files without the restrictions mentioned above. I upgraded my review rating from one to two stars.
You and other users are obviously subject to the AjaXplorer file limitations when accessing the N1A1 over the internet.Network Printer
The printer function works, however my faithful Canon MP530 printer has lost the scan function. This is unacceptable for us as we use for scanning as much as we use it for printing.
The manual was no help as far as setting up the printer on the NAS.Expanding the NAS storage capacity.
Multimedia files are large and if you intend to store your video collection on the drive you will soon run out of space. This is disappointing as I intended to use the DLNA feature. DLNA allows you to access the media files from a DLNA enabled TV, smart phone or other WIFI device on the network to watch videos, photos or listen to music.
On a positive note, my LG TV connected automatically to the NAS and showed the content of the media folders. If you think about connecting a separate 2 or 3TB hard drive to the USB port on the N1/A1. THINK AGAIN!!! It will not work.Comments are welcome please correct me if there is another way to handle the files or send an alert if LG comes out with another file browser.* Version 2.5.2 - 2009/07/19 - Yes it is over two years old but it came with the "latest" software update that I downloaded September 2011 If this review helped you make a decision please click the yes button below.
Not easy to set up . If you don't have a IT degree this thing will be difficult to set up at best. Most the directions consist of letter acronyms, the Korean/English another reviewer spoke of. The manual on the CD is 103 pages long lots of fun reading! The problem I have run into is the port forwarding, if you want to access this from the internet you must set your modem/router up to allow this. If you are lucky the LG software just might support your modem and is suppose to do this automatically for you, mine didn't. WARNING: The Westell 7500 router from Verizon is not supported by LG set up software and will require you to set up your port forwarding manually. This should actually be pretty simple once inside your modem if you can get the right numbers from 1 to 10,000 to put in the blanks and that is where the problem is.... The instructions on the disk give you many numbers to try only problem is you have to know what order and where to put them. My modem asks for "Global start" Global end" and "Base host" ports, these labels don't match anything in the LG instructions. LG gives you FTP and HTTP type port numbers but no "Global" or "Base" port numbers so where do those go? The DMZ?? A call to their tech service after explaining to him several times I know how to access the internal router software but DON'T know WHAT NUMBERS to put in he finally suggested I put #80 in all three places, they didn't work. LG tells you to call your modem manufacture and they tell you to call LG....go figure.I gave it two stars since it did show up on my LAN and is accessible like another drive on my computer. I haven't tried transferring files over to it yet since if I can't access it from the web I will most likely send it back and change my rating to no stars.
I'd give it 0 stars if I could . I am a fairly competent computer guy who has yet to get this device working in 3 long weeks. LG said upgrading the firmware would mostly likely fix my problem. I have been trying to upgrade the firmware for about 3 hours now with no luck. If you want an easy to use/setup iTunes server or DLNA server, look somewhere else this is not the device for you.

Returned the item, and Amazon made me pay the shipping. Talk about a double whammy. I return a device that is unable to accomplish the things the description says it can, and then in addition to the hours of life I wasted on this piece of junk I have to fork over $10.31. Seriously makes me rethink my Prime membership. Shame on you Amazon for selling this product and coupling it with disgraceful customer service.
