Nice but does have 1 flaw . High Speed Kingston USB 2.0 Flash Drive Data Traveler 100 - 4GB (DT100/4GB) The product link description is close but, not exact. It is a Kingston DataTraveler I Generation 2 - 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DTIG2/4GB (Yellow).
Kingston makes great products, and for typical computer use for backing up files, and transfering data, ect. It works perfectly.
However, because of it's shape - the body is bigger and longer than most that I've used, so when I try to insert it into my Canon MP470 to print files, it just won't fit. The male end of the drive is just too short to do it. It is a minor pain, but I've got other drives I can use for doing that so it's not that big of a deal.
Otherwise, for the price it's a real deal esp. @ 4GB. I have no problem at all recommending this at all. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I wish the usb connector was protected . So far, so good. I bought this flash drive because I did not want to have to worry about losing the cap. The problem is, I don't feel comfortable carrying it my purse because the usb connector is not protected. I believe there are others that are one piece and do protect the connector.

cheap. works great on a Mac. . It looks like you got it in a gum machine, but I've used this drive hard for 3 months now (including leaving it laying in the driveway for the weekend) and I've got no complaints. It also comes free of crappy pre-installed software.

flimsy but functional . I'm a bit disappointed in how flimsy this thumbdrive feels. It has a rattling lightweight plastic case that feels like it could snap in half if handled too roughly. Large capacity drives have gotten so cheap it's amazing, there are several drives to choose from at this price point. This one feels like a toy but performs just fine. I haven't tried to benchmark it yet and no matter how it does I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone. It just feels too lightweight and breakable and there is no activity light.
I got the 4GB (fried egg color) for myself and a blue 8GB for my wife. They are identical except for the color and capacity. Kingston is a trusted brand so I'm not worried about their performance but I am concerned about durability.
All that being said, I have to admit I kind of like the fact that this drive is unique in its toy-like look and feel. As a previous reviewer said, "it looks like you got it in a gum machine" - excellent way to describe it.

More than serviceable . Not much to say, other than it's relatively fast and doesn't look like the average flash drive. Wish there were more like 'em. (4 GB is a bit on the small side these days but it's good enough for most functions. I wouldn't trust any flash drive with a lot of data unless it was also backed up t a network drive or some such.)
Fast and Reliable . This jump drive works awesome! I have had it for college use and there's more than enough room for all my presentations and documents that I work on. It installs into the computer automatically and is ready to use in seconds! Its really fast to transfer files to! The light on the flash drives flickers to let you know that it is connecting to the computer and it also lets you know that its working. Great Product, its gonna help me a lot through college.
Works great! . I just wanted to be able to plug it in and copy files and it does that just fine. No problems plugging it in at all.
A simple reliable USB Flash Drive . I was looking for a no-frill, easy to use USB memory stick. I am also looking for one with good mechanical design that is cap-less but the retractable USB connector will hold itself without retracting when pushing it into the computer. Lastly I am using this as Boot stick (to ghost machines, etc.) it needs to be compatible and recongizable by most of the BIOS. Kingston's DataTraveler meet all the requirements and it is performing superbly as it should.
It may not be the fastest flash drive or the biggest capacity out in the market. However it is well sesigned and it is also well priced. I will recommend this if you are looking for a simple, reliable flash drive.

Cons Review
The SLOWEST USB Flash Disk I own bar NONE . These Kingston DataTraveler G2 4GB drives are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Make no mistake.
I went out and bought six different Flash Drives today, as I am trying to find the fastest for the lowest price. I need a fast drive that I can buy in bulk and ship to our customers. The drives I bought are:
Sandisk Cruzer Blade 4GB - Cost $12.88
Lexar Jumpdrive TwistTurn 4GB - $13.60
Imation 2GB - $7.98
Sandisk Cruzer 4GB (Latest design) - $12.95
Imation Atom 4GB - $24.00
Kingston DataTraveler G2 4GB - $9.95
By far the best is the tiny Imation Atom, obviously the cost is more but the write speed was double the other drives, and the read speed was sigificantly better also. And the WORST by a huge margin was the hideous Kingston DataTraveler G2, which set new levels of crap performance. I tested all drives vigorously both by benchmark tools (I used CrystalDiskMark, a great free drive speed tester, and USBDeview also free) and practical tests like copying a 400MB folder of typical image files from HDD to the USB drives. I tried changing the formatting, using FAT, FAT32 and exFAT and different allocation unit sizes.
In every case the performance results from the Kingston DataTraveler G2 SUCKED like an industrial vacuum. Copying a single huge file (where USB drives do best) got me the tragic transfer rate of 2.3MB per second at absolute best. Copying a random folder of 30-200k images dropped the speed to just over 1MB per second. Best case read figures were around 5.7MB / second which is also hideous compared to any other drive I tested.

Clearly the Imation Atom is the genius of the bunch (also the most expensive by far), whereas the Kingston DataTraveler G2 stands alone as the severely retarded kid. It runs at half the read speed of the cheapest drive (Imation 2GB), and is around a third of the peak read speed of the others in the similar price bracket.
I also briefly tested some older drives I had, including some Cruzer Micros (old design, which performed MUCH better than the new models), Cruzer Titanium 4GB, Corsair Flash Voyager 8GB, and a Lexar Retrax. All did much better than the Kingston 'plastic embarrassment'.
Quite frankly I have never seen a USB drive as bad as the Kingston DataTraveler G2. I cannot understand the positive ratings people are giving this drive. If you are stuck with one of these steaming nuggets already, feel free to download the free tools mentioned earlier and confirm the results for yourself. If not, breathe a sigh of relief and buy something else.
