Cobalt is solid . I have purchased 3 Buffalo Ministation Cobalt 500 gb external drivers and can't say enough about them. These are the best mini portable hard drives period. I have dropped them and they still run. Used them in freezing temperatures in the winter outside to the humid climates in the south eastern parts of Asia and I haven't had one problem. I like idea that it just plugs into the USB port and doesn't need a power supply. I will and have recommended this product to many people. Small Fast Effective . All of my machines recognized the drive and data transfer is fast. The drive comes with a program that enhances file transfer through the RAM I beleive; I found it did slightly increase the speed of large file transfers.
It is small enough to fit in your pocket in a pair of khakis. Finally, the fact it only needs the usb cable to function is also a nice plus.

Excellent drive and an incredible price!!! . I had bought a Toshiba drive for my Karaoke Laptop set up. But I found that drive to be inefficient (it was a bit too slow, so it's relegated to back up duties). So I looked at the Buffalo Technology Cobalt, which was on sale at the time. After getting it in my hands promptly, I proceeded to transfer about 70GB of karaoke files over...and it went very smoothly, at a decent pace. I've been using it for well over 6 months now, without one single hiccup. I highly recommend this drive, and I plan to buy another one soon.
