The QNAP TS-110 Turbo NAS is the most economic single-drive storage solution for Prosumers and SOHO users who want a NAS with compelling features, solid performance, low power consumption, and high reliability. Incorporating a Marvell 800 MHz CPU and 256MB DDRII RAM, the power consumption of the TS-110 Turbo NAS in operation is only 7W which is much less than that of a PC, and even an energy-saving bulb. The TS-110 Turbo NAS is not only an ideal storage server but also a multimedia station to enhance your home entertainment experience. The built-in UPnP/ DLNA media server (with TwonkyMedia enabled) of the Turbo NAS supports gaming consoles, e.g. Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, for media playing and the NAS works well with NFS-supported High-Definition (HD) digital media players. The TS-110 is also the perfect download center for high speed BT/ Emule/ FTP/ HTTP download. You can use the Download Station with the QGet utility to manage your download tasks remotely over the local network or the Internet. Also, the TS-110's AJAX-based NAS management software utilizes a web interface that allows intuitive management of all the Turbo NAS features. The TS-110 offers features more often found in much higher end NAS servers, including built-in iSCSI target service, remote replication, policy-based unauthorized IP blocking, SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), and network surveillance with two IP cameras (optional purchase).

I Like It! . The QNAP TS-110 is a great piece of gear. I use it on my home network with an ASUS RT-N16 router and it satisfies all my needs so far. After looking at various NAS units in this price range I settled on this one because of the hardware specs (performance) and the fabulous software interface that QNAP provides. My needs are primarily file storage and audio streaming. This NAS serves four PC's, four Logitech Squeezebox devices, and an X-Fi Zen Wireless portable device.

I would highly recommend trying out the live demo test drive to see how great the QNAP software interface is. Since links can't be posted here, google qnap live demo.

There are many capabilities of the TS-110, but here are the highlights of my usage:

1. File server and image backup of all PC's using Acronis True Image.
2. Power management.........the installed hard drive will spin down at a user specified time (e.g.........5 minutes of inactivity)
3. Power protection........I have an APC Back-UPS XS-1500 connected by USB to the NAS. In the event of a power out the NAS will run for a user determined amount of time and properly shut itself down. This is a great feature and fully supported by the TS-110.
4. I have an older Samsung ML-1450 laser printer connected by USB that works like it should.
5. I have four Logitech Squeezeboxes and server software (SSOTS) for these devices resides on the TS-110. Streaming audio is flawless both from files on the unit's hard drive and internet radio.
6. The NAS also runs Twonky Media Server which streams both files from the NAS and internet radio to an X-Fi ZEN wireless device. It's a bit wiley to set up but it does indeed work.
7. Front mounted USB works as it should.
8. Quiet fan......nearly silent! My old and slow Buffalo NAS was a wailing banshee.

I use a 2 Terabyte Hitachi drive formatted EXT4 with write caching enabled and the performance is very good for the price. I have not ventured into video streaming and cannot comment on performance there, but for my needs, the QNAP has exceeded my expectations out of the box. These devices are really not geared for novices and if you plan on getting one, you'll need to spend some time getting it going. Information is very cryptic in many areas, luckily, I have been able to piece together what I need and the result has been great. Down the road I would probably look into a dual drive QNAP unit, but for now, the single drive is outstanding and prices will surely improve along with improved hardware and ease of use.
QNAP TS-110 1-Bay Portable Network Attached Storage Reviews
We are now officially networked . I purchased this item for networking our family music, pictures and videos, and, for viewing movies on our networked DVD player - we have 4 laptops. So far I am impressed by how easy it was to install (2 Gib Western Digital) and to transfer files into QNAP. The iTunes feature works well and it links very nicely to my DVD player. We have enjoyed watching family movies and pictures on our TV. Now that I have "one" main file source for all our data, I now feel we are officially networked!

I would buy this product again and would recommend to a friend to purchase (in fact, I already did)
QNAP TS-110 1-Bay Portable Network Attached Storage Opinions
Works great does what I need it to . Bought the QNAP TS-110 about a month or two back and I am glad i did. The features on this device are nice, I have gnappy media server setup so I can stream my media to my xbox 360 or PS3 with very little setup. I use the built in bittorent client to download media, it saves a lot of power compared to my media box that I was able to replace with this. Setting shares are samba took nearly no effort, if you are a medium tech user you should be able to figure out all the settings with no problem. hard drive installation is quick and very painless, slide case open, attach hard drive, and close case. No screws needed. The only downside I would say is that the case does not seem the sturdiest, but its not meant to be moved around a lot. Also I am on the latest firmware and I ran into a bug where I couldn't pause a bittorent download, didn't end up being an issue as the download wasn't taking much bandwidth, but still a bug.

Overall this is a great little device that was worth the purchase.
Perfect for Home users and me :) . I've bought this item with Western Digital Black Series disk.
It' perfect for home user. I've easly installed the myserver and upload my files.

Together with basic features such as printer server, backup, web cam recording, media library (which can streams your videos and mp3 over an internet browser), Qnap supports advanced features such as iScsi support running SVN server on your server.
Unbeatable . This Nas is perfect for sharing your home stuffs. I don't have any windows machine and Works fine with MAC OS X ! Pros: excelent construction, quiet, fast for sharing, gigabit interface, nice and easy web interface, torrent client very fast and easy, share 2 USB storage more ! network time machine.Cons: Need more software for mac OS, the qMobile for iphone don't work for me. DLNA server need a more intuitive interface but works very fine sharing and share 1080p films.P.S.: Much features, read the documentation !
Excelente . Excelente producto, funcionando desde hace mucho tiempo... un poco lento al iniciar pero del resto ok, lo unico que no he podido es hacer que la multifuncional conectada a este funcione como escaner.
Good performance nice features but still learning the ropes . So far a great product - quiet, low power, small. I bought two 1 TB drives; plenty of storage for a music server. I love the fact that it can be accessed remotely from any internet connection. I am using it with the iPad app and as a music server for my home theater; the app seems to be fairly intuitive, though it won't stream full length dvd's I've loaded onto the NAS - I believe the limit for streaming is 2 GB file size. Setting it up is networked based, and can be a little cumbersome if you don't have a good knowledge of computer networks. Have not tried tech support yet. Still learning the product.
Great NAS! . Great NAS got it up and running with a seagate 1.5TB drive. Twonkymedia works great as does the web interface. Highly recommended. Streams to my WD TV Live Plus with no issues.

Cons Review
Great Server . This is a great server with many bells and whistles. Some knowledge is helpful when utilizing all of the features. Great speed and server capabilities.

UPDATE:
I had this as a five star server. When it worksm, it is. Mine broke after a firmware update. That was 3 weeks ago and I still have no server. I was told it would take 4 days. Now, I was told they don't have the parts and it will be a few days. WHen asked how long this might take, like weeks, there was no answer. I'm not happy with QNAP support. If yours works, it is great, if you need help, it is not a pleasant process.
Okay . The hardware and software need a lot more polish. The unit is just not stable enough to set it and forget it. The hardware is too loud, the software is too buggy and convoluted. I had problems with the admin password resetting after each shutdown or restart. The unit would also freeze after a week or so of use.

I ended up stop using the NAS after 4 months because I wanted something to simplify my life instead of complicating it. I'm not sure if I'm going to wait for newer software updates and try again or look for another solution.
