Great Little Bracket - NOT EXTERNAL PORTABLE HARD DRIVE!!! . This is designed for, and a smaller part of the SILVERSTONE RV02B-W 0.8 mm Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case (Matte Black). This little guy is the hard drive mounting bracket for the case. It is held in with four screws that go in through the sides of 5.25" optical drive mounts. This takes up 3 optical Drive slots, but most people don't need 8, or even 5 optical drives. This mount holds the drives vertically as opposed to horizontally, allowing the 3x180mm fans to force large amounts of air between them, and allowing it to proceed vertically out the top of the case.
This is just a second case if you need/want to expand the number of hard drives that you have at your disposal. It works well for dampening the vibrations created by the hard drives, and is generally well built.
I'd highly recommend it.

SilverStone Portable External Hard Drive CFP53B (Black) Reviews
It's an internal not external drive cage...but that's ok. . This is actually an internal drive bay meant for specific models of Silverstone computer case; however, I would hazard a guess that it could be easily adapted to other cases that had three 5.25 drive bays available. The entire unit comes in a box, and is packed with a bubble wrap sleeve. Opening the sleeve, you see a small insert with brief but understandable 2-step instructions (which could use a little more verbiage, the terseness may put off some buyers), and a bag of screws. The bag of screws is adequate - 12 "long" screws to go through the grommet holes to the drives in the bay, and 4 thumb screws to attach the bay to the case. The unit itself has small rubber/plastic grommets that allow the drive screws to "float" a little bit, probably to reduce vibration in the cage. They flex easily but don't feel loose-fitting. Any drives inserted are aligned on their sides, which makes little sense for "regular" cases, but a lot of sense for 90-degree-rotated-motherboard cases. The rotation allows the bottom-to-top airflow of these unique cases to circulate over the top and bottom of each drive - including the small circuit board controller that each drive carries.
Some people have complained on different websites about re-installing this drive bay in their cases, claiming that a complete motherboard removal is necessary, but the only conclusion I can come up with is that they either don't read instructions or lack imagination. Silverstone has a PDF at their website ( [...] ) that shows how to pop out front plates and allow the cage to be removed and re-installed without pulling the entire motherboard. It's not rocket science folks.
I originally bought this unit as a form of cheap insurance; as time goes on, parts for a specific case become harder and harder to come by (like any other computer part). Because I think I will be able to get a lot of mileage out of my RV02 - probably 7-8 years - it was better to purchase the bay in advance so that I could add drive capacity over time. If you need more drives for your Silverstone 90-degree motherboard case, or plan on keeping it for a long time, I highly recommending springing the extra $20 and buying this in advance.
Note: if you plan on keeping your Silverstone case long-term, you might want to stock up on the special 180mm fans that are used as well (mfgs. link [...] , Amazon link SilverStone Air Penetrator Air Channeling Case Fan 180*180*32mm, 700/1200rpm AP181 (Black)). 1-2 extra spares never hurt, especially if a fan fails 5 years after purchase and replacements are no-where to be found.
