Great Product At A Great Price! . I bought the Memorex 8GB Traveldrive and absolutly love it! It is very easy to use and works well between my two computers (XP and 2000) without any trouble. The security software is very user-friendly. It's like having an extra 8GB of space for any computer! Just plug it in and go! The transfer speed is also very fast! (Less than 25 seconds for a 700MB file!) If you want speed, portibility and ease of use, this is an excellent choice!
TravelDrive 2007 USB Flash Drive, 8GB Reviews
Has worked well for me . I've been using the drive since April (about 4 months). It has worked fine. I use it to transfer/backup files on three different computers: two use Win-XP and one uses Ubuntu. I've not had any problems with a write-protection error.
TravelDrive 2007 USB Flash Drive, 8GB Opinions
Problem with Vista . Bought this a year ago, worked well with XP. Just bought a new HP Laptop with Vista, and when you plugged this into the laptop USB, the whole computer stalled!! Not sure why, still working fine with the XP desktop. Memorex web site has nothing to help, seems like a lot of people are having similar problems

The Solution:

After I posted the first review (see above), I looked around and found a solution that (at least) worked for me. And the fix is the following (hope it can be useful for other Vista folks):

If the drive is found without errors, then Vista might not be assigning it a drive letter.
Right-click My Computer and select Manage.
Then select Disk Management.
See if the drive is listed there. If it is, right-click on the partition and select Change Drive Letter and Path...
Assign it a drive letter or change it to a different one. It may be trying to step on an existing drive letter or Windows may be confused on what to give it. If the last drive letter shown on a drive is H:, then give your flash drive I:. Once you save your changes, the drive should light up and be working. It is also possible that you need partition and format the drive.

If the drive doesn't show at all, check Device Manager for errors. You may have a conflict or need to update or load chipset drivers for your motherboard or USB card.
Love theses Things . I've have the 2,4, and just got a 8gb, All worked great and were fast at reading and normal for write as all are, unless you zip the files and just write one file, then its fast writing as again all are. The 8gb works great even on my old USB 1.1 xp pro pentium III 1 ghz and my Vista 64 ultimate xps-435t i7 3ghz USB 2.
Best 8 gig USB Flash Drive to get . There are hundreds of 8-gig flash drives. I've bought and used several types. This model of Traveldrive is super fast in writing INTO the device. Most devices can be read FROM at about the same rate. But WRITING INTO the flash drive is another matter entirely. Don't buy those cheap ones. Besides losing the little caps, you'll be disappointed when it takes half an hour to copy a few large files. The Memorex Traveldrive needs no tiny separate cap, and it handles large file writes with aplomb!
Memorex Travel Guide 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive . It is secure, password protected. Set your own password and be safe with entries. I have bought 4 and am able to rely on them.
Travel Drives . These drives work great. I have used these drives in the past and found them reliable compared to other brands I tried.
Works great! . Bought 4 of these for people in my office, some on MACs and others on PCs, worked equally well on both machines. Just pluged them in and all were ready to go. It's been 3 weeks and no report of problems or lost files.

Cons Review
Write protect curse . Like others I've seen, I used the drive only a couple of times, and when I tried to delete to make space for other files, I got the "write protected" message, and formating, deleting, nothing is an option at this point. I've tried it on three different computers and nothing works. Went to the Memorex website for support, and it's useless for this issue.
This Memorex Travel Drive sucks . My wife bought me this drive because I need it for "traveling". And it is called a "Traveldrive". I have attempted to use it in 4 different computers now. Only a brand new HP laptop running Vista Home Premium would read it. No other operating systems such as XP Pro or Vista Ultimate would read the drive.

When you depend on something to work and it does not, that really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Memorex needs to stick to anything else but computing because so far they are batting zero!
