From Home to School . the best part of this devise is the lightweight factor. This proved to be a ood purchase also because there is no need for software instillation(altleast for XP), just plug & play. I dropped it once already and it'S still tickin' so THIS IS A GOOD BUY!!!.

Very nice drive-- Works fine with Mac/PC also FAST . I bought two of these for rotating backups. Works very well, no drivers needed. I can just plug it into Windows or my Mac Powerbook and everything works well. It is also very fast, 5400rpm. It runs faster than my Segate, which has to be plugged in.
It is great not having to plug this drive into the AC. It simply draws power from the USB cable. If you did need to use an adapter, it uses a common 12V adapter that you should be able to buy at Radio Shack or similar.

FANTASTIC PRODUCT . One very cool use of this product is you can create a shortcut for it on your desktop and then click and drag anything you want saved. I can click and drag any program icon on my desktop to the WD Passport's shortcut icon and the program and all its files are saved instantly.

fast drive . got this for mobile-- didn't realize it was 5400 rpm- which was faster than any other 2.5" and really performed well. Case is nice, looks metalish? Great value considering it's a WD drive inside.
Recommendable!! . Very light and truly the size of a palm. Also, it only requires one USB port, so it's very convenient! Highly recommendable!
Excellent choice! . I do not require backup storage, but rather, storage that is both separate from my computer and easily portable, so I did not install the software, but treated this unit like another drive. It is convenient, fast, easy to use, and thus far, durable.
I do not currently need more external storage, but when I do, I will buy another like this one if it is still available.
After six months, many miles, and a few drops, it still works like new.
UPDATE (January 3, 2008): I have used this WD drive for about a year now. It has absorbed some drops and bumps and temperature extremes, and has not failed in any way. I need more storage now, and will buy WD, preferably a similar model with more storage space.
I do not currently need more external storage, but when I do, I will buy another like this one if it is still available.

Great product . Easy to use, slim design, great for backing up anything. Just plug it in! I wouldnt buy the 40GB again though. I have since seen much larger hard drives for a couple dollars more.
A Little Star . This compact hard drive easily fits into my laptop briefcase. It hooks up flawlessly to my laptop and easily transfers files to and fro. I am pleased with this purchase and would buy it again. I've had it several months now and it has traveled with me to and from Iraq w/o damage or defect. I recommend this drive to anyone as an inexpensive, compact, and rugged portable hard drive.
Western Digital 40 GB Passport 2.5 . I've used this unit for the past couple of years without a problem. It's is reliable and easy to transport between home and the office if you telework. When I purchased it, the price was around $[...] after the rebate. The 40 GB units have dropped in price considerably. You just can't go wrong with a Western Digital.
It's great so far . Great! Light weight! runs fast.. Haven't dropped or rough housed it yet... but hopefully it'll be ok.. it's so light, that don't think the fall would hurt it much, if any...
