For secure storage it's great. But it can cause Windows shutdown issues. . My only prior experience with an encrypted USB key was with a Kingston DataTraveler Elite 1GB.
The main difference between that key and this one is that this key requires two free drive letters to function. When you first plug the key in, it appears to the system as a CD-ROM drive. The program to open access to your secure data is on this drive and, once you enter your password to unlock it, the secure data is revealed on a second drive letter.
This product does everything I need it to and I found it easy to set up on Windows 7. It's not very fast, but it's fast enough (the fastest I've seen it go is about 6-7MB/s) and I don't really have a need for anything faster. The device uses hardware encryption, so there's probably some overhead there.
There is one problem with this device that I consider to be a significant inconvenience. On Windows 7, if I shutdown the system while the key is still connected and authenticated, the program associated with the key will crash and block shutdown. This happens consistently, and the only way around it is to remember to shutdown the key software before you shutdown your PC. I have contacted Kingston support about this and they confirm that this is the only way to deal with this problem.

This is in contrast with the non-Privacy Edition model which partitions the storage into non-secure and secure areas. Again, with this Privacy Edition model, every bit of data is secured; you cannot choose NOT to secure a file. (Notice the intended double negative here.)
When you first plug this into a USB port, the part of the drive that houses the built-in security program registers in Windows as a CD-ROM drive. (BTW, this product only works with Windows XP/Vista; I haven't tested on Win7 yet.) The small utility runs, letting you choose a password. You can also use the utility to set the number of allowed login attempts before the drive formats the ~4GB secured data storage area.
Subsequent plugging in of the drive results in Windows' displaying an Autorun box; you should run the DTVP program, which then prompts you for password. If you fail to type in the correct password a specified number of times -- 10 is the default -- the storage formats itself.
Windows reports 3.73GB of total available storage, in line with the 4GB rating of the drive. Even though it uses a hardware-based encryption/decryption engine, read and write speeds are below those of a "normal" USB stick drive. So this is best used for storing small documents, rather than large files. Of course, given the secure nature of the drive, most users will end up storing small document files anyway.
The cap can be easily lost, so be careful there.

Excellent Product! . This was the third or fourth flash drive I purchased, but the only one with encryption software compatible with Windows 7. The drive works awesome.

For the Security . I love having these highly-encrypted flash drives. When I lost one, I didn't worry about the files. I again bought a Kingston encrypted flash drive because of simple setup and operation.
This new one is nicely smaller and thinner than the previous version, though still about 1mm too thick for nesting in a USB port stack without having the adjacent slot empty.

Easy and secure . No problem with installation or use. A bit more expensive than your average jump drive but top notch security.
Clumsy both software and hardware . The product works fine basically. For a 2gb drive it is quite bulky as compared to my other flash drives. Probably this is due to its added securit features. The software is not easy to set up. I did several times on my Windows 2000 and 98 PCs. But somehow its easier under XP and Vista. The setup procedure should be simplified and improved. The software screens are kind of blurred with some characters barely legible. This also should be improved by Kingston. However, all these are just minor defects and the most important quality is how long it can retain the data input into it. Now nobody can tell but pray.

Waisted money . Bought 10 of these 1GB sticks 4 years ago for my company and they worked flawless on Windows XP; now on Windows 7 the software is outdated and Kingston does not provide a software upgrade! 500$ waisted!

Total Crap . Doesn't work. I login, and then nothing. Nothing shows up, no drive, nothing. Unfortunately, Kingston wont go out of business selling $40 sticks of plastic.
Kingston is crazy! . I tried this at the trade show and was not impressed. You can get another brand with 32GB 256bit AES hardware encryption for $75.
Kingston is out of their minds to be charging over $400 for 16GB of encrypted flash drive. Their target customer for this item is the enterprise, but buyers will be small companies. No one at my enterprise IT department will be approving this for purchase. They also have a government model specifically to bring in tax payer money from the government.
