Iomega solid as a rock . I bought this for a backup drive for my Macbook Air. I liked the sturdy aluminum case and compact size and the fact that it is usb 3.0. It did not disappoint and works like advertised. Plus Amazon's price was better than everyone else's.

An excellent portable hard drive . I love this hard drive. It's light, small, fast, and simple to use.
I use it regularly to back up my internal hard drives (with Macrium Reflect Free -- great backup software) and it performs perfectly time after time.

External hard drives are a necessity especially if you are handling large chunk of data.As a graphic designer I always have had the need to store image files and that is when I decided to buy Iomega Prestige Portable SuperSpeed 500 GB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive 35192. The best part of Iomega Prestige is that all my files are secure as the pack comes with a free download of Trend Micro Internet Security Software that was able keep my system off virus. Moreover the online backup storage by MozyHome allows 2GB online storage space for my files that can be recovered even during a natural disaster. My storage worries have been put to an end by this amazing product.

Cons Review
Iomega Encryption Utility BS . When you attach this drive to a computer it automatically loads a virtual CD titled Iomega. On that CD is an old version of the Iomega Encryption Utility. This virtual CD is as much a benefit to this hard drive as a nail is to a car tire. You have to pull out the nail and patch the hole to make it usable. It's a similar process with the Virtual CD. You need to find an updated copy of the Encryption Utility, create an account with Iomega, download the 80Mb file, install it (on a PC) and use it to remove the virtual CD. Do this before you put anything on the drive because it will wipe the drive in the process. No, formatting the drive won't remove the virtual CD, I already checked.
This is all particularly annoying for me because I'm on a mac with a slow internet connection. This is a 30 minute download, just so I can copy the utility to a PC to remove the virtual CD before moving the drive back to format it as a mac partition. This drive may be a 2.5" drive, but it's thicker than my laptop. For a portable hard drive that's not good.
I may come back and raise the number of stars on this review if it's a particularly amazing drive, but for now it's stuck with two stars because it's taken an hour to copy a 1 Mb file... 59:30 to download the utility and format the drive and :30 for the file.

If you are planning to use for Windows 7 backup....don't... . No where on this description does it say it's not compatible to use with Windows 7 backup utility. When I tried to back up my laptop, I got a system error. Re-tried a few times, and after Googling the problem I found out the reason why. Sent it back! Why wouldn't they publish this info? Windows 7 is here people!
Amazon why the huge price hike? . When I started watching the Iomega 1tb USB 3 (35194) this summer it was around $120 on Amazon. On October 18th it was $105. Now on Nov. 25th it's $187.52? Forget Black Friday, it's Price Gouger Friday, ha.
