JumpDrive Secure 10011 Fix/Repair Solution for XP users . The System Administrator (at my former place of work) found an elegant solution to the Lexar JumpDrive Secure 1GB 10011 error problem!!!
First, back up all data, programs, etc. from the Public partition of your JumpDrive (you will want to use the JDSECURE software later... or, worse case, it can be downloaded from www.lexar.com).
Solution: right mouse click MY COMPUTER and Select MANAGE. Then select Disk Management from the Computer Management window. Remove all partitions from the JumpDrive and recreate/rebuild the drive as one full 1 GB FAT partitiion. Now run the program JDSECURE31.EXE from your saved JDSECURE/Windows folder ... the jumpdrive secure management software will now load! Configure the the jumpdrive with the management software and you are back in service!

BTW, I spent 3 days talking with Lexar support staff and executing live online chat sessions to no avail. Lexar can't support their own products. In all cases I was told (from a script no less) that they would email me special new softwar that would work and resolve the problem. This never happened. THANK GOD FOR LEC SYS ADMIN... and God save the Queen!

Product worked fine . Overall, I am very satisfied with the JumpDrive. At first I was uncomfortable purchasing it after seeing the previous two overwhelmingly negative reviews. The reviewers were complaining about two issues: having to install the "secure" software and the customer support.
As far as the "secure" software goes, if you would like to use the secure partition, you would obviously be required to install the "secure" software onto the computer. Not sure what they were complaining about (the last reviewer was probably using the JumpDrive on an older unsupported version of Windows). You can choose not to install the software, and have the entire JumpDrive be "unsecure".
I can't comment on customer support since my JumpDrive worked fine and I didn't need any!

Lexar Good but not Perfect . Although this is the 3rd Lexar JumpDrive Secure I purchase, I find it still too "FAT" for some of the tight spaces given when using hubs. Also, often there are problems "hot removing" the drive when the Secure part of the drive has been mounted. There are too many "cannont unmount try later" errors when trying to remove the drive. But, I like the ability to Secure as much or as little of the drive as the user needs.

Cons Review
Don't do it! . I was really excited to get the JumpDrive because of the reviews I read. True, it is a lot more durable than many flash drives, but I've had so many problems that it's entirely not worth it. From day one I was unable to use it with most of the computers at school because the JumpDrive tries to install its "secure" software onto whatever computer you plug it into. Most public computers will not allow this due to all of the computer viruses going around. Unfortunately, if the software doesn't install you can't access the drive. Another problem that I've had while using it with friends' computers is that it will occasionally delete entire batches of files! I've always been careful to properly eject the device, but more than once it has deleted numerous files that I had recently saved onto it. I generally like Lexar products, but not this. My friends have cheaper flashdrives that do a much, MUCH better job.
Bad Product Horrible Support . This product sounds great, but in practice it is a bad idea. For you to get to your "secure" partition, you must run software from the jumpdrive when you install. This can be very problematic. As you might expect, it often doesn't work. When I run this on my machine I get a mysterious "Error [-10011]".
The only thing worse than Lexar's software is their support. I emailed them and they mailed me back their boiler plate "Please reformat your drive" response. I traded email with them several times and all of there responses were: reformat the drive (several times), download the latest software (several times), more specific instructions on formatting the drive (which I didn't need, I managed to format it and lose my data just fine the first time!). I would write back and tell them that their solution didn't solve my issue, and they would email me back with the same solution, as if some how, magically, it would just start working. Finally, they told me to call them.
I called, and am now on hold. 20+ minutes. Avoid this company like the plague. I'm going to throw mine in the trash and move on with my life.

The only way that it wouldn't be a factor is if I used the stacked array ports on my desk top or used an extension cord [which doesn't seem to fit with the idea of being portable, does it?]. If I used a hub, which I usually do, I'd stick it on the end so it'd only take up 2 slots, instead of three. That was an annoyance that kept me from replacing it - which brings me to the final point..
3. Unreliability - despite it's rugged appearance, it died after about a year. I'd had another cheaper Lexar thumb drive do the same before, one that I'd bought after this, but I thought it was a fluke. Then I read on a computer mag's site about the complaints of others regarding Lexar's lack of durability, so it seems to be a question to consider.
So overall - I'd steer clear, and if you already have one - just use it to transport files that you've backed up elsewhere. DON'T think of it as your backup...you'll regret that.

Worthless! . This thing is unusable because it is too fat to fit 99% of my USB ports. It won't fit the recessed ports in the front of my desktop, it won't fit the ports in my laptop if the network cable is also installed, and it won't fit the rear USB ports of my desktop if the monitor also happens to be plugged in! Unbelievably stupid design. Look for one that is more narrow!
Works good BUT... . Don't buy this item. Due to its absolutely moronic shape (although ergonomically comfortable) it will not fit into many USB ports. It is too wide. That's something I didn't even consider when buying it. Of course a Jump Drive would fit all USB ports...that's its sole purpose, right? Imagine my surprise when I got to class one night and the PowerPoint I'd spent days preparing could not be shown because my stupid JumpDrive would not fit in the USB port.
All of this is really too bad, because on the computers it DOES fit into, this item functions like a dream. Never a problem. Too bad, so sad, but at least it appears Lexar has learned from this mistake.
