excellent . I bought this item as an external hard drive for my Macbookpro and find that it provides enough storage that I can leave my internal hard drive free for applications only - the imation portable is small enough to carry with me everywhere I go and works so well I bought a second one for my husband's mac.
Note: it comes with two connected usb connectors but I only use the black one since there aren't two ports next to each other to utilize the second one, and this seems to make no difference at all to the fast speed at which files transfer. It uses my laptop as a power source so I don't have to carry a second power cord with me which makes a huge difference when traveling. And the small profile is a major plus too.

Cons Review
Error 0x8007045D . I used this Apollo Imation 320 G external hard drive, purchased online from Staples, for only about a week. When I used it to back up relatively small sets of data from both a Vista and an XP machine, it seemed to work fine. However, when I decided to copy to it a set of ~700 files, total size 6 G (one year of family pictures) it was giving messages like I/O Error 0x8007045D. At this point, if I pressed my ear to it, I could hear a rhythmic clicking pattern from the drive. That's on a vista machine. On a Windows XP machine, when I tried the same, it just froze the Explorer, no error messages, with the same rhythmic clicking sound. A lot of files did get copied though, and I can open them OK. I am only guessing that I was unlucky enough to get a drive with some hidden defect, such as for copying small files it works fine, but for large jobs likely to freeze.
