Cons Review
Comes with preloaded software . This hard drive is junk. I assume the same goes for any product that has LifeStudio written on it. The protected partition makes it useless as a portable hard drive for anyone with any amount of computer skills.
If you buy this hard drive because you want the software it comes with, you are in great shape. If you bought this hard drive for versatile storage, you're out of luck because all of the bloat built into it will drive you crazy.
There's no way to remove it. Only work-arounds to hide the virtual CD partition. The work arounds are software based so it's still useless if you want to connect it to any kind of non-PC devices (e.g. cameras, Xbox360, Wii).
I have a dual core Macbook Pro (2005) and it can't read the drive. Disk utility says it's there but the drive never comes up for me to use. The virtual CD always pops up though. Same goes for my core i5 Macbook Pro (2010) except every fourth attempt or so it will actually work and I can actually put data on it. Transfer too much and it suddenly disconnects in the middle of file transfer.
I never installed the software. I bet it works fine after you install the "LifeStudio" software...
