The LaCie Rikiki (which means "tiny" in French) is one of the smallest mobile hard drives on the market today. With the Rikiki, you don’t have to choose between capacity and mobility; it’s perfect for anyone who needs constant access to their music, photos, files, and entire digital world. Its brushed aluminum casing works on two levels: it helps protect your data, but also gives the Rikiki a sophisticated look. The aluminum exterior is tough, but it’s also light enough for mobility, ensuring your data will always make it to its destination. USB Boost software is included for enhanced speeds and performance up to 33% (Windows® only). With the robust software suite included, the Rikiki is a user-friendly choice, regardless of whether you’re on a Mac® or a PC. LaCie Backup Assistant is included to help you manage your backups, so there’s no need to worry about losing data, and the LaCie Setup Assistant gets you up and running immediately.

Little Big Vault! . After searching for a new passport to replace my broken Western Digital, click of death, I stumbled across the Lacie lineup of portable hard drives. My search criteria for a new passport were: silver/white color, 1 tb of storage, design, and price.
Color: Since it's a portable hard drive, I like it to match my MacBook. I'm not a really big fan of the colorful options such as pink or blue and black clashes with my white MacBook :D
Storage: I need 1 tb of storage because I do a lot of photo editing for a small studio and the files eat up a lot of space quick! I also do a little home video editing, so that takes even more space.
Design: I need a compact, contemporary portable hard drive. The design of the Lacie Rikiki GO is very neat. Aluminum casing will ensure that the case doesn't break like my plastic Western Digital. It had small, chipped off pieces on the corners and cracks. The unique design of the usb cable is attached to the side of the portable hard drive. It's a neat feature that makes carrying the Lacie Rikiki GO drive less of a hassle. Some may find this design a disadvantage, but worry not! The usb cable can be detached, it is just a short mini usb to usb cable. So a longer cable may be an option.
Price: For the storage capacity, I found that the price was very reasonable taking into consideration of what I was searching for in a portable hard drive.
The Lacie Rikiki GO also comes with 10 gb of internet storage with Wuala, which means accessibility to and sharing of your files from practically anywhere. The drive is compatible with both Windows and Mac OSs. On first start-up, on my Mac, the drive launched its software to easily format the drive to my desired requirement. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.

Lacie Rikiki GO 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive 301939 (Silver) Reviews
500GB and 1TB are DIFFERENT sizes. Amazing drive though. . First, going along with what another reviewer said, the sizes are different and as of 03/2011, Amazon's images do not reflect this. The pictured drive is the 500GB with a height of 13.4mm. The 1TB drive has a height of 19mm. It doesn't sound like much, but the 1TB is much boxier than it's smaller cousin.
I've only had the drive a day, but I've already backed up two computers (thank you SuperDuper!) and moved a good bit of data on and off it. It's certainly fast enough, and even booting from it when alright (on a Macbook Pro), but don't expect it to be mindblowing or anything.
Compared to other portable drives, I think having the small USB cable attached is an advantage since you can't lose it, but I could see how some people might miss having a longer cable (of course you could just get an extension, though).
I want to use this mainly with a Macbook Air, so size is pretty much the most important aspect to me.
Definitely recommended for someone looking for maximum portability.

Lacie Rikiki GO 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive 301939 (Silver) Opinions
Very nice! . I bought this at my university book store (MUCH pricier there, but i can pay with scholarships!)
Anywho...
I was originally worried about this brand as i had never heard of it before entering that store. I am very glad i bought it though. Size wasnt an issue (functionality wise), but it sure is cute!
Pros: nice size, look, and capacity. It's pretty and convenient. :)
It took 35 minutes or so for it to put 90g onto the hard drive. I don't know if this is considered fast or slow, but i wanted to mention it just in case it would help anyone narrow down their hard drive search in anyway.
Everything is great about this hard drive except for a couple minor things that i am going to nitpick about. These things wouldn't stop me from buying it all over again, and i am really happy with my purchase. But, i thought i would list them here just in case they may be deal breakers for others.
The corners are sharp...like sharp sharp. I would suggest a carrying case if you're going to be taking it out and about. I cringe at the thought of it ripping and ruining one of the linings in my handbags.
The texture is a bit funny. (I freak out at goopy kid toys though, so i'm a texture queen). It's not bad, just a bit funny. It's a weird, smooth, gritty dust feeling. I HATE picking this thing up.

Simple Solid Super-compact . First off, the dimensions are smaller than I expected - about the size of a cigarette holder. Secondly, the aluminium casing is sweet - looks industrial and feels solid (especially great with Macs).
Now for my first backup experience. I hooked this up using the integrated USB cable (USB 2.0 A to Mini-B) and ran the LaCie Setup Assistant software. It formatted flawlessly for my iMac. I fired up Time Machine for my maiden full-system backup and once the data started pumping, the little LED light flickered to life. This initial dump of about 230 GB took almost 2.5 hours. I'm happy with the speed given that it's only USB 2.0 and moving forward, only much smaller incremental backups will be made.
Bonus points go to the no-frills setup, the flawless backup itself and that it's plug and play for both Windows and Mac. No drivers to download. The Manual and Utilities are included on the drive. I did not use the free online storage so I can't comment. Another plus is that it's USB-powered. Personally, I hate having yet another power adaptor that generates heat and defeats the portability of the device. No cons to report yet. Will update this review if warranted.

Tiny light and awesome . I received my order the day after placing my order!
I'm so impressed by this little device. It's even smaller than I imagined; can't believe it holds 1 TB. Ultra portable, good design.

Cons Review
The pictures and dimensions for the 1TB model are NOT accurate . Look at those pictures (or the ones on the LaCie website). See how the drive looks to be exactly the thickness of a USB connector? Maybe the 500GB is, but the 1TB model is much thicker. Like 40% thicker. If you're looking for a svelte portable drive, keep looking. This one is thick and has sharp edges that just promise to tear up the insides of whatever bag you drop it into.
Disappointed . It crashed twice TWICE. Lacie customer service is trying to help but all my data will be lost. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I want my money back
