Works as Advertised! . This unique product from Verbatim is a traditional 4GB USB flash drive that also doubles as a paperclip, which is a good thing because this drive is so tiny that it would be easy to lose if it wasn't attached to something.

I've used this drive on both an iMac running Snow Leopard and PC's running Windows 7, Vista and XP. It was instantly recognized on all machines and performed flawlessly.

While you certainly don't need to employ the "paper clip" function to utilize this drive, I've found myself attaching it to reports and speaking notes to PowerPoint presentations. It's a novel idea from Verbatim and I'm finding new places to attach them every couple of days.

On the plus side, they work fine and they're tiny. On the negative side, they're tiny; and therefore easy to lose. Another potential negative is that the contacts are constantly exposed. There is no cover to protect them. I don't know if this will be an issue at some point, but it bears mentioning.

If you are looking for a flash drive to exchange data with someone via the mail or you otherwise need it to be protected and very durable, then you would probably want to select something more conventional. However, if you can see the utility of attaching a flash drive to reports, speeches, file folders, etc., then this new product from Verbatim will fit the bill nicely.
Nice . I really liked the clip it, I gave my wife one and she fell in love with it. Great product

Verbatim Clip-IT 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 97551 (Orange) Reviews
SUPER tiny and easy to use . This flash drive is about 1/3 the size of the average flash drive. It's about the thickness of a notebook cover. It slides onto books, paper, etc. anywhere you could put a paperclip, this will fit. It slides easily into the computer and synchs up quickly with both Macs and PCs. It's pretty dumby proof. The only thing about this flash drive that I would say isn't great is the fact that there is nothing covering the contacts, so I would imagine that after sliding it on and off things after a while, the contacts will start to wear also. It would be great for high school or college kids, but be careful b/c this is SO tiny it would be easy to loose in the bottom of a backpack or purse if it wasn't clipped to something larger.

Update! I lost it! It was just too small - I thought I had it clipped to a card instide my wallet, but it's not there anymore. Don't know where it went.
Verbatim Clip-IT 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 97551 (Orange) Opinions
I Love This! Very Small And Useful! . I wasn't quite sure how this Verbatim Clip-IT 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive was going to work for me. On one hand it is very small and can be lost easily. On the other hand, the small size has benefits. Instead of placing this Clip-IT on a folder I have found great use for just storing it in a jewel case with a CD. It fits perfectly! I actually use this drive moreso for transferring music files from one computer to the next. Since I'm always carrying music with me the small size works very well in just storing it with my CDs. The only downside to this device is that it seems a bit fragile. I am concerned that it may break easily, but so far I've had no issues with it whatsoever. It just snaps into a USB port, and I'm ready to go! Highly recommended.
A lousy paper clip but a darn good flash drive . I've owned lots of portable usb flash (jump/thumb) drives over the years. I've gotten rid of them because I outgrew their memory, because I upgraded to better ones, and twice because an electrical short in an ancient desktop killed them dead. I LIKE this one.

It's an interesting idea to combine a paper-clip with a thumb drive, but until they cost ten cents each, open and snap closed like a clipboard, and allow you to write on them, I think it's a novelty at best (this product can do none of those things).

When I try to close the device around paper it's so tight it would only be useful for holding together a very small stack of papers (tying to open it enough to hold my notes together feels like it will break it and it leaves ugly marks in the paper).

As a thumb/jump drive however, I like it quite a bit. It's small, relatively fast, and I haven't had any reliability issues yet. It slides in easier than most drives I have used or tested, and just plain works great. No stupid proprietary software popping up constantly and drivers constantly trying to install themselves, just a thumb drive that's fast and smooth and works.

Others have noticed that the contacts are ALWAYS exposed. The good thing about this is you aren't fumbling with a cover all the time, the bad side is that I imagine it will corrode easier or get dirty/damaged easier unprotected. But if you are working an office environment instead of slogging through literal mud that probably isn't going to matter much, as your drive is far more likely to be damaged by static electricity than dirt.

I've put the device in my pocket and taken it to work, and that reveals the final plus/minus. The device is small. REALLY small. If you hate carrying around a lot of bulky electronics you'll love that. If you are always losing things you may hate it. Personally I love the small size, but I do wish there were a keychain ring at the end. It's the perfect size for a keychain thumb drive.

As it stands, I would buy one of these, but not to use as a paper-clip.
Great office solution . In a perfect office world, there would be no need for this product. All files would be stored electronically and the attachments related to the subject matter of the file would be easily selectable from a simple menu.

I don't work in a perfect world. Instead, I work with large numbers of paper files- in plain old file cabinets. An in many of those files are disk, and DVD's and printed photographs and other electronic garbage which is associated with the paper in the file.

Worse, some things that should be associated with the paper files are only on someone's hard drive, and although they exists, they cannot be retrieved or related to the contents of the file.

The beauty of this little device is that it stores electronic data in a format that can easily be filed. You clip it to the file folder or to some papers in the file and "walla!" The files are now easy to find and use. Photos associated with the paper- no problem, they are in the same file at the same detail as when they are taken!

The device states that it is water resistant, shock resistant etc etc. To test, I carried mine around in my hip pocket wallet for a few days- worked great. It looks durable and well made.

In my humble opinion, the "Paper Clip" function crowd is missing the point. This is the BOMB! It is not designed to hold paper together, but rather to hold files next to paper.

Everyone at my office is excited about this product. We know that in a perfect world we wouldn't need it- but we aint perfect and this is a great helper for our situation. We will be buying a lot of them while we wait for the future.
Cute works well but TINY! . First of all, this flash drive is adorable! It's so tiny and comes in bright colors!
It was so cute, I wondered if it would really work? To my surprise, it worked beautifully! No troubles at all.
My worry is twofold: One, the contacts are constantly exposed. There is no cover to protect them so I question how long it will last. Two, it is so SMALL! I've been putting right here on my desk and I've already lost it twice among the normal desk clutter!
Small but slow . The transfer rate on this drive is slower than others I have used. However, it is a neat concept, and I would think a great tool for someone doing a powerpoint presentation on a public computer, allowing them to clip it right to their notes.

I don't like having so much of it exposed to the elements. I guess I'd not want to have much stored on it that isn't backed up elsewhere, but I guess that should be the rule of thumb with any drive.

Only time will tell how well it stands up to use.
Works fine but it's so small. . This flash drive works as a flash drive should. But it is tiny, and I am concerned that it is too easy to lose. As for its design, to double as a paper clip, I am mystified. It's not like paper clips are expensive or hard to find. So I don't see the point of combining a flash drive and paper clip.

Cons Review
BAD DRIVE . It's the first time I ever had a bad USB drive right out of the box. Also, the USB connector does not have the full metal shield, and so it didn't go into the USB slot like normal. That's no big deal (although it doesn't inspire confidence) and then it was bad. I sat with an Indian guy on the phone for 1/2 hr until we decided it was truly shot. All in all, a bad experience. I replaced it with a SanDisk Cruzer Blade, which worked great out of the box and has been reliable ever since.
