Rocking little product! . How small? How light? How powerful? These were all questions I asked when I first encountered the Kingston DataTraveler 109 (DT109) with urDrive technology. This really does change USB data storage technology. Really. Let me tell you why. This is really a review of two products, but they go hand-in-hand, so I can't really avoid it.The DT109 is one of the smallest USB data storage devices I've ever seen. It's smaller than my little finger - or a door key.I'm sure this thing has some weight, but nothing that I can detect. In fact, I have a feeling the little loop at the end is so you can tie it down so it doesn't float away.It comes in 8Gb or 16Gb flavors, and they cost $9.99 and $19.99 respectively from Amazon.OK, you say, so it's small, light and holds a lot of data. Doesn't that just mean I'm going to lose it easily and I'll lose a LOT of stuff when I do?My simple is answer is Yes, yes you will. IF you don't use the handy dandy ring thing and hook it onto your keys. But that's all just stuff. The REALLY good part comes when you plug it in and run the free urDrive software which comes pre-installed on it.Kingston have created this software to turn this data storage device into a portable, self enclosed mini user account.Let me try to explain that a little better...Normally with USB memory devices, you tend to just throw files onto them, sometimes remembering to put them into folders but generally just shoving them anywhere they'll go.What urDrive does is helps you to organize those files for easy retrieval. It has it's own little file manager which makes the organization ridiculously easy and makes it so that you never have an excuse for losing a file somewhere on your USB memory device again. It also adds in cool things like a browser which you can store your favorites in and take them with you wherever you go, an application store for games and cool apps, a music player which will play the music you've stored in the easy-to-use music folder on the memory device and 6Gb of online data storage (in case you fill it up).In conclusion, it's an excellent little product. I really can't find much to complain about and it does everything any other USB memory device does and a whole lot more.If you are looking for some kind of small, portable memory storage, I totally recommend the DataTraveler 109 or one of the other devices like it which use urDrive.**** Kingston provided me with one to review, but the opinions expressed here are all mine. Kingston DT109K USB 2.0 Hi-Speed DataTraveler 109 8GB Reviews
Small wonder! . Technology today is simply amazing! This little DataTraveler holds 8 GB of files and images! It's so small I'm glad it has a hole in it to affix it to my car keys or I'd probably lose it. Simply incredible technology. And to think IBM's 1401 was so big it almost took up an entire room and only held 4KB of memory. That's KBs, not MBs, and certainly not GBs!!!!!!! Today we can carry more data than could be stored in multiple 1960 data CENTERS on our key ring.
