Not as big as it looks . I was afraid it would be too clunky but it's actually pretty streamlined. I'm really happy with this drive. It was super easy and fast to set up and I backed up over 2,000 high resolution digital photos from my computer in about 5 minutes. I can't see paying more for 100 GB of storage just to get something smaller, unless you have to carry it with you all the time. Seems to be working just fine.

Average Unit . After I received it noted that was a bit clunky. I'm happy with this drive. It was easy to set up. Although there seemed to be some problems initially they seemed to have gone away. Be aware that the unit does heat up so you can not leave it on all the time. Not that you would want to if you are using it as a backup drive that should be used during emergencies. Key for the purchase is cost. The low cost outweigh the potential issues related to the unit.

Great drive very Durable . I got Mine Around 2006 but mine is the 150 gigs since i couldn't find that one Well i must say this thing is Durable an when i mean Durable i mean as in i dropped this drive around 4 times An it still works perfectly its been around 3 Years since i had it now an its still going strong..Only complain that i have is the design but over all its a good drive..

A wonderful backup unit! . This has been a lifesaver for me as I recently had to reformat a corrupted HD drive in my gateway system. I have tons and tons of converted pictures (from slides) as well as converted MP3 files (from CD's), not to mention Drivers, Internet Bookmarks,Outlook files, Quicken Files etc which would have been permanently lost had I not backed them up on this drive.
Unfortunately my Gateway restore disk and my True Image backups would not work and I had to purchase a Windows XP Pro OS to get my system going again. But the bottom line is after I got the OS going again, I used the backup drivers in this Seagate to easily restore my system.
A very happy camper! Regardless which external HD purchased (backup), one should NOT be without one. I guarantee that once your system konks out and you have to reformat or replace the HD, there's always something you'll lose that you wish you didn't. Not to mention the length of time it will take to re-install everything back and it can be a real pain if you don't have the necessary drivers for your system!

Great! . This is great. I always needed a hardrive, but never really had the funds for one with alot of space, but this was affordable, and it works great.
a fine product . It's quiet, doesn't get particularly hot, and is super easy to use. I've had it for several months now and have had no problems.
Easy to use! . This was a wonderful addition to my PC - truly plug and play and very useful.
Great External HD . I've had this Hard Drive for a year now, and I've never had any problems with it at all. I just use it as extra storage space in addition to my computer's internal HD. Plugs in via USB, very simple to use. I noticed other reviews complaining about the temperature of it; I've never had a problem with that. It's been behind my desk on the floor in a relativley contained and unventilated space and the case never gets hot at all. I'd definetly recommend this item or any Seagate drive.
Edit: I'm posting this in August 2008, nearly four years after I got this drive. It's still working perfectly. This thing is truly a great product.

Cons Review
Sorry Seagate . Caution: This is NOT the same product I purchased from Seagate, mine was the 100GB External, with a little blue light and vents all the way around. They must have stopped selling it. Simply put, into its third year (right after 2 year warranty expired) it just died. No warning, no nothing, dead. It makes funny clicking/scratchy sounds when I plug it in, but nothing. I don't like junk, and this appears to be junk.
Wish I could tell everyone not to buy . I bought this product a year ago and it has now failed (technical term from Seagate). They could have replaced the device if it were still under warranty, that's easy enough, but I won't get any data off of it, and that's all I truly care about. However, they have graciously offered me the data recovery service for $1,400. For a company and a product that I put my trust in, that I put my money in, I would expect a little more ownership on their part for what I have lost. Only buy this product if you have others to do simultaneous backups on...you can't trust it.
