Same price better protection! . I shopped around for portable external hard drives but Seagate and WD portable hard drives all have problems if dropped. And then I came across a CNET review about this bullet-proof hard drive, ioSafe. Quite impressive!
It is small but built like a tank and sure it can withstand bullets. I travel a lot and this small hard drive give me peace of mind that it will survive any outside impacts. Transferring data is really fast with 3.0 USB connection. Even with 2.0 connection, it still faster than my old drive.
More over, I got mail-in rebate for $50.00 that help bringing down the price to $80.00; around the same price with other brand names but it provides more protection. Very good deal. If you are looking for a reliable portable hard drive, this will fit your need.

love it . This is such a reliable hard drive, its light weight and very portable. I accidentally knocked it off my desk, I instantly plugged it in and there was no problems and it still looked good.I recommend this to anyone.

iosafe rugged hard drive . I purchased an ioSafe rugged portable hard drive because I am a research assistant in Kenya's Massai Mara ([...]). I live in a tent and I am powered by solar. That being said I am not the only one that lives in my camp...we regularly have hippos, lions, hyenas, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, leopards in camp. It also has happened that tents have been trampled in the mix up of a shuffle between some of these animals. Of lesser threat: tents often leak, travel around the area is always bumpy and dusty, there is a fire break around our one campsite, and I tend to have bad luck dropping or roughing up external hard drives. So after one crashed from a short drop, I began looking for a truly 'rugged' and affordable solution/security. I ended up purchasing an ioSafe drive after reading other reviews, and because they provide an amazing data recovery plan. Finally the people working at this up and coming company have personally contacted me to inquire about my satisfaction with the product and seem very helpful and straightforward; a welcome change to automated phone machines and long waits on email help requests. To date this drive has not been stepped on by a hippo or chewed on by a hyena... but never the less I am confident in it's performance and I am completely satisfied thus far.

happy customer . I have your basic external hard drive for one of my older XP laptops. It doesn't get used much anymore and its traveling days are over. I recently purchased a new laptop and was looking for a better way to backup my files than with an ordinary, exposed external drive. In the past I purchased two ioSafe Solo external hard drives for business use and they performed well. I was pleased to discover that ioSafe had a new portable drive. I'd been so content with the Solos that I purchased a rugged portable for my new laptop. I've been using it for about a week and it has worked flawlessly. It's not fireproof or waterproof but it's sure solid and now I'm not concerned about the rough handling it'll encounter in my travels. As a bonus I received Genie backup software with the unit. I opted not to go with cloud storage because as I archive files from my local drive to an external drive the cloud will no longer see the files and delete them from their servers. (Understandable, as they provide backup services not storage services.) Now I have total control over what gets saved, backed up, archived or deleted. All this in an attractive, seemingly bullet proof package. All in all I am a happy customer.
Great product great customer service . I am an adventure & travel photographer that has been searching for a solution to my image storage needs while on the road. I recently found ioSafe and decided to take the plunge and purchase several of their 500GB drives. They arrived promptly and look fantastic and rugged! After registering the devices on-line, I received an email from their CEO asking how my purchase went, and what I thought of the product. I assumed this was an 'auto' type message, so I was presently surprised when my response was met with an actual dialogue with the CEO himself. Wow, now that does not happen very often these days. I am excited to have these drives as part of my adventure kit and will be doing a full review of the product on my site after having had a chance to use them for a bit. In the meantime, first impressions are great and I highly recommend these drives.
