Works but reliability software and service are well below expectations. . Drive's documentation starts with instructions to perform two software updates - one for Mac, one for Pegasus. Maybe it is a coincidence, but after this particular OS update, my iMac now hangs to grey screen (have to do hardware reset). Before I could do software updates though, I needed for iMac to recognize the drive - it did not work out of the box. Call to tech support helped - the issue was cable connection on iMac side. Phone tech support person was knowledgeable, but surely rushed. If you ran into this problem, try a different cable or reverse cable's direction. Make sure dim thunderbolt light (below blue power light on the front panel) is on.Within a week, one of six drives has failed. This is consistent with the experience of other reviewers on Apple's site. Advanced replacement was shipped a day later than expected. It has been a week since I got the drive and I am still not able for the enclosure to completely accept the new drive and clear red error lights on the dashboard. On-line support is slow, answers at odd hours, and does not seem to be looking at screen shots, logs and the submitted messages. Quite frustrating actually. Monitoring software is less than intuitive and crashes all the time, although drive is still mounted and can be used. Once Promise software stops working,, I have to hard reboot iMac. Performance is good. I need two more Thunderbolt RAIDs, but will wait until there are more stable products on the market.

One major flaw . I bought a new MacBook Pro explicitly for the new Thunderbolt technology. I do a lot of video editing and a wanted a fast and safe disk subsystem for use during the edit process. When editing at my desk I connect my MacBook Pro to an external monitor via a MiniDisplay Port cable. I was expecting to be able to plug the Pegasus into the Thunderbolt port on the MBP and leave my desktop monitor permanently plugged into the T'bolt pass-thru port on the back of it. I tried this and it works fine BUT the Pegasus must be fully powered with disk drives spinning in order for the T'bolt pass-thru to work. This means the Pegasus must be running even if you're not using it and have it un-mounted. What a waste of electricity. How difficult would it have been for them to power the T'bolt bus electronics separately from the rest of the unit. I consider this to be a major oversight on their part. Now I must crawl behind my desk and swap my monitor cable back and forth when I want to use the Pegasus. I am very disappointed about this.

Fast Fast Fast and quiet . I picked mine up this week and it takes full advantage of the new Thunderbolt technology. Please remember this device currently works only with Apple computers released in 2011 that have a thunderbolt port.
Pulled the 12TB R6 out of the packaging, connected to it my 2011 macbook pro and with speed disk test, I was reading and writing at about 600 Megabytes per second, at the default Raid 5 setting. This compared to about 30 megabytes per second for USB 2.0 and 75-80 megabytes per second for firewire 800. This is fast and very quiet and has tons of capacity. Yes it is expensive but you're paying for the fastest attached storage out there.
In my home office I cannot hear the fan or disks spinning at all. It is virtually silent.
For those needing fast storage between 4tb and 12tb, you will be very pleased.
