Jaw-dropping performance . The 64GB Super Talent Express RAM Cache is hands-down the fastest USB storage device I have ever owned. I run a remastered Linux Mint off of it which I boot on several machines at work and home. I purchased this to replace my 64GB Patriot Rage XT. I really like the Patriot and it is fast and secure, but when you run any operating system off of a USB device, you are always looking for the best performing device you can buy.
The Super Talent has significantly better concurrency and throughput than my Patriot -- especially on smaller files. I only boot machines with USB 2.0 so I don't know about it's 3.0 performance, but my test suite shows it provides a full 30% improvement over the read and write performance of my Patriot. It often sustains 38-40 MB/s writes which is astonishingly fast.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that it's beautiful to look at either.
This high performance is not without cost, tho (aside from the sticker price):
1) This thing is huge by USB stick standards. In fact, it is 1.25 inches LONGER than the Patriot. And while it is a bit thinner than the Patriot, it is wider than any other USB stick I've seen. It often crowds or covers neighboring USB ports which is tough on say a Netbook with only 2 USB ports. I solved this by always carrying a 7 inch USB extension cord to get the drive away from the ports. This works fine but reduces the appeal of the drive. These extensions are available here on Amazon.
2) The Super Talent gets warm. Not hot, but I've never had a USB stick that heats up like this. Perhaps it's a testament to the efficiency of the aluminum casing. At any rate, it doesn't effect the performance of the drive whatsoever.
It's so fast and runs Linux so well that I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't so bulky.
