So Far So Good . I think they could have made the rubber holder a bit smaller so that it works on a key chain better. With that said, the larger size gives the holder and the clip more durability. I can understand why they went in the direction they did. The USB works as you would expect, there are no complaints here. It comes with Imation's software that adds another layer of security by adding password if you prefer. I simply deleted any software that came with the product as it wasn't something I needed. The holder doesn't show any wear or tear on it after a month or so of use. That was my primary concern and it appears to be holding up fine. All-in-all, its a basic thumb drive that provides durability and portability.

Imation USB Flash Drive . I like the design with the clip. Clip it to your laptop case or belt loop and no worries about losing it. Flash drive itself also works well. Pop it out of the carry case and it is small so you have no trouble inserting into a USB port with other devices plugged in around it. I have the 4GB size at work and now have purchased an 8GB for my personal use.

Great flash drive . This 8GB flash drive replaces a 1GB drive exactly like it after several years of use. The 1GB version took tons of abuse and never had a problem. I kept it on my keyring 24/7 even out on my boat under less than ideal conditions. I'm replacing it with this 8GB model because I need more storage space. The rubberized case holds the drive securely. I like the fact that you don't have to keep track of a tiny protective cap like most other drives. I also like the fact that your keys don't hang off the front of your computer when using the drive. The only negative thing about this flash drive is the size of the storage case and clip. They are pretty big. The photo looks deceptively small. I wear denim shorts to work and I'm a big guy, so the bulky size doesn't bother me. I can see where many people will find this drive too large to comfortably carry around in their pocket on a keyring. The black rubber case is 3 x 1 1/8 inches and 3/8 inch thick. The entire thing is 4 1/2 inches long including the metal clip. The actual flash drive is quite compact at 1 3/4 x 3/4 inch and 1/4 inch thick.

Exactly what I was looking for... . I've been using this drive for about six months now, and I've been very pleased with its performance from Day 1.I was looking for a durable device that could withstand my everyday use as a key chain, in addition to working as a quick flash drive when I needed it. I had grown tired of all the other drives being too flimsy to stay on my ring after only a short time of use. This drive certainly does not have that problem. I have found the rubber case and plastic reinforcement to handle the trials of real life with ease. I did remove the caribiner clip in favor of a different ring, and please note that the thickness of this drive really makes putting it on a standard ring very difficult. I have been using it on one of those small steel cable rings with great success.One of my favorite features is the slim profile of the flash drive unit itself. I never have to worry if its going to be too wide to fit in a USB port of a computer. (I've had flash drives in the past that valued style over functionality, and the shape of the drive wouldn't allow it to fit into some ports.) I can even slip it between other USB cords that may be plugged in around it.I will definitely purchase the latest version of this flash drive when I need to upgrade next.
Yes it does have a write protect switch. . Received this today after a lengthy shipping delay. I chose it for the Write-Protect feature, for my virus cleanup duties.
The packaging does not mention the write-protect switch, only the security software, but the switch is there. It is an unmarked miniature surface-mount switch recessed in the side seam of the drive. As a tool to move the switch, I cut a piece of the plastic packaging into a point and stored it underneath the drive in the rubber holder. There is no way it will be flipped by accident, but I can see how it could get broken.
I've added a picture showing the write protect switch, with my Sharpie label marking the Read Only position.

Does what it is suposed to. . i got the 8gb drive from amazon.
the clip wasn't that important to me this was just the cheapest 8gb drive around, but saying that, the clip is pretty nifty. however it is significantly bigger then the drive, and the little stickers they give you,(so you can write you name on them, and stick to the clip and to the drive) don't stick really well. but that is the one and only issue I've had. it comes pre-formatted. works like a normal usb thumb drive. no problems yet. had for 2 wks

Excellent . I bought the same imation 528mb flash drive before I started school, but then realized I needed more capacity for all my projects that I was constantly working on between the dorm and library. This flash drive is extreamly easy to use and works when going from a Mac to PC. Only downside I was not aware of was when connecting the flash drive to my Mac it had to be directly connected to the computer and not though the side usb port on my keyboard. Overall it's a great product and I used it all the time with no problems.
It cannot get any better than this! . It's a great flash drive folks. I use this thing daily and have had 0 trouble with this. It has a rubber case that works extremely well in protecting it from harm. Contrary to popular belief it's not as big as a Volkswagen, but it comes with a carabiner... size really shouldn't be a surprise. Also, a previous reviewer actually negatively reviewed this item because a marker wouldn't stay on the surface long enough....not really a performance related topic I look for in a media drive, but that's just me.
I hope they continue to use this style in larger capacity flash drives; I'll be first in line to buy it!

Cons Review
Too big! Buyer beware! . I was looking for a usb drive that could act as a keychain. I saw this and thought it might work. Brother, was I wrong. It's actually very big and bulky. It works great if you want to clip it to your bag but forget about keeping it in your pocket. The actual USB drive is pretty small (the gray part) but it's embedded in this big rubber case (the black part). USB drive works fine, about like any other.

I used this flash drive for a little over a year, downloading setup files (like CCleaner and Avast and Revo Uninstaller) from the Internet, then switching the flash drive to read-only when inserting it in computers with uncertain histories. The read-only setting gave me a sense of assurance that infections would not jump onto my flash drive (due to autorun/autoplay behavior). Well, last week the switch broke. I can no longer change to read/write mode.
I liked the fact that the switch was recessed. I got used to using a straightened paper clip to reach the switch. But it was not durable enough for me. I'm looking for another flash drive that includes a write-protect switch (hopefully one that doesn't easily slide back and forth in my pocket).
