Excellent Hard Drive . I have been using the SimpleTech External 250 Gig and the SimpleTech Portable 100 Gig Drive for a little while now. They have added a year to the life of my hard drives.
From a programmer's perspective these drives have been great. I use them for running 4 different virtual machines using Microsoft's Virtual PC and Virtual Server. They are great for hosting the latest VPC instances Microsoft has been dumping out
USB 2.0 is a definite must though. They are slow as mud if you aren't using USB 2.0.
For digital image storage they are great. When we go on vacation I usually end up with about 7-10 gigs of photos.
I guess the best thing they bring to the table is mobility between my PC at work, my work laptop, and my PC's and laptops at home. I currently do all my work on them.
One thing to note is that the external drives can be bought for about $100.00 less than the smaller portable ones. The small one is much more convenient than the larger one to carry around, but for the price I decided to be a little inconvenienced. It was worth it.
Both have been worth the $$$. They have save me a ton of time going between different environments.

Worth the money!! . I bought this product at Sams Club for $78.00. I am not planning on backing up my entire computer hard drive. I am using this to backup my digital photos. I transferred 4.07 GB of digital photos in under a minute!!! Very easy to setup and to transfer files to! I would definitely recommend this product!!

Good product . I really like this product. I got it at Office Depot for $99.99. I put all of my videos and music on it and I still have tons of room. The setup is very easy (you just plug it in and it works). One reviewer said they had a Mac and they had trouble with it, but there are different directions for a Mac than with a PC. You must plug it in, then extract the file that comes on it so it will work properly.
Awesome for backing up data. . Works great for backing up data, I have been using this for several months and have had no problems :)
SimpleTech External Hard drive . The unit is all that it claims to be. Very easy to use and install.
Cons Review
NOT a portable drive . Amazon mislabeled this drive. It is an external desktop hard drive, not one of SimpleTech's portable hard drives. It is much heavier than the portable drives.
Great HD but NOT PORTABLE!!!!!! . This is a great external hard drive but its NOT portable. Thats sad cuz I wanted one that was srtictly portable. I could have bought a bigger hard drive for the same price but I thought it was external.

SimpleTech External Hard Drive . OK, but much larger than I expected (physical size, not capacity. also, the bundled software is seen as MALWARE by a number of security applications!
SimpleTech 250G USB drive . This probably works well if it's what you have in mind. It wasn't what I wanted, though. I wanted a USB drive that would automatically back up individual files from my hard drive. This does a system restore type backup so you can restore your operating system. I ended up buying a Maxtor USB drive that automatically copies the individual files I select.
