Try try again (no really do!) . I kind of took a leap of faith and bought this because I needed a 2.5 enclosure anyway and it is one of the few out right now that supports USB 3.0. The box is entirely in French, which made me a bit wary as to what I would find next. Externally, the enclosure is definitely slim, light, and seems to dissipate heat well. The mirror finish is instantly ruined by fingerprints upon grasping the enclosure, though, if you're concerned about cosmetics or something. It is very easy to open by removing the single screw and sliding the cover off. They even include a tiny screw driver for removing the tiny screw. The only problem is, the screw driver is actually too big for the screw, lol. But it's the thought that counts, I suppose. The included cable is one of the new USB 3.0 SuperSpeed cables and it seemed to be sturdy and the right length.

The major problem with the enclosure is that the connection point on the back of the enclosure is VERY sensitive. Moving the enclosure around without the most delicate of hands can cause the drive to disconnect. This is obviously a big deal as it introduces an significant and unnecessary risk of corrupting whatever you are putting onto the drive. For me, I have it attached to my Linksys NAS port so I am really never touching the enclosure unless I am swapping out drives anyway, but still I worry. If it were not for this critical flaw, it would be a 5 star enclosure. Maybe mine is a fluke, but I am not motivated enough to exchange it to find out.
Connectland Ultra-Slim 2.5-Inch SATA USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure CL-ENC25015 Reviews
Great case poor cable . Love the sleek/clean case. Currently enclosing a 640GB Seagate hard drive. Wish the USB3 cable was shorter though... too big/long for portability.
Connectland Ultra-Slim 2.5-Inch SATA USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure CL-ENC25015 Opinions
GREAT PRODUCT . It is nice and slim. I have not had any problems with it disconnecting as stated in the other review. It disconnects like a normal USB 3.0 connection. I have another enclosure similar to this that requires it be connected to an USB 2.0 for power. This one needs no external power. Great product.
Speed as promised cable flaky . This is the ideal solution for mounting an external SSD, the speeds work as promised. The included cable is a little flaky and cannot be relied upon not to detach from the enclosure. I have been very tempted to try a little superglue since the connector on the drive end is either proprietary or unique to USB3.
Nice! . This is a very nice item, and the price was in my neighborhood as well. Cheap! You may may have to put some rubber feet on the drive to keep it from sliding all over you desk as the cable is unforgiving. Good enclosure overall.

Cons Review
cheap & poor quality . Wrong connector design at enclosure's side (miniUSB3).
Don't trust critical data to this enclosure.
Get a better one (even if slightly more money).
A few other problems + only ONE plus: Details below:
===

Connector is not recessed into enclosure & breaks off easily; I am a professional w/decades of computer work and can testify connector is junk.
Enclosure is extremely slim/portable & cheap - that's the only Pro.
Also:
Firmware chip is one of the early USB3's, may cause signaling violations coupled w/cable falling out from enclosure at the slightest pressure, even by itself!
Cable ridiculously stiff for a 2.5" enclosure, stiffer than in my desktop USB3 enclosure. Like metal rod, could be no big deal but point is - connector being a problem compounded by stiff cable ==> together form a deadly combination that finally killed my Harddrive full of workdata, after 2 months.
Wasn't happy that day.
Suppose Connectaland (CL) updates this model w/softer cable & newer firmware (my Review is dated :), but reworking Connector would call for a new model#, this one is bad, however. CL has no choice actually if Slimness is the goal.

Spend a little more money & maybe it would be slightly thicker - but get better enclosure, like MASSCOOL for 2.5" & VANTEC for 3.5" drives, etc. I got both after losing a harddrive due to Connectaland (CL), e.g. MASSCOOL 2.5" is using normal-sized USB3 port at Enclosure's side - penalty in thickness is negligible, but reliability is priceless (connector cannot fall out)! Moreover, this CL's electronics board (PCB) is there permanently, but you can pull out Masscool's board and attach even to a desktop (3.5") drive or another application (extra flexibility/value).
I guess you will want this CL if you can somehow assure it's perfectly "fixed" unmoved during use or if you don't value your data, and just need max. portability - it's as slim as harddisk itself (thoough also implies little protection).

But to me, the "END" was when CL finally killed a Harddrive. Note: ever since I got a new enclosure, and it's been a LONG TIME ( I edited this Reveiw approx 1 year after Connectaland let me down), it's been perfect, AND I've read since then numerous other people saying the same thing:
Connector is a trouble spot here (combined w/crazy stiff cable, compunds the problem).

What happens (and happened to me) is when your Harddrive/SSD is Writing, connector may quietly snap out, you have a "good" chance you end up with damaged Harddrive heads/clusters/whatever - Harddrive is lost. If it's movies & music, fine, in my case was valuable workdata - not fine!
My other point, is other enclosures I mentioned above, cost not just same but some even cheaper, I understand better ==> often more expensive, but in this case it's opposite, I got a cheaper yet better enclosure that even included a screwdriver, amazing :) Also those are all painted black, not silver or fingerprint magnet like the "mirror finish" of Connectaland.
Using Krazy-Glue to glue cable to connector defies the purpose of portability - you won't believe how STIFF & LONG cable suopplied by Connectaland is , so "portable" enclosure would turn into a monster.

Last thing: blue LED is one of those "superbright" types found on electronics made until recenttimes, when manufacturers thought brighter is better, until they invented this LED that can actually hurt your eyes at night. One night I taped it, and you would too. It's a flashlight, what in the world is the reason to make "Indicator" light as powerful as a flashlight? I lit whole apartment with this thing, but admittedly it attracts teenagers in stores maybe. Also this thing looks slim & sleek, except no good for its main function which is Harddrive enclosure. Not a jewelry object :)

Look:
I have one normal 2-color LED on MASSCOOL enclosure which changes color from Green to Red when writing, elegant & simple. Not obnoxious. Besides the fact that USB3 connector is proper and been working for about a year perfect!

The biggest plus of this Connectaland is Slimness and that's it.
Easily broken / Cheap . Bought this thing a while ago and it's already broken. The connector is made really bad and moves if you touch it. Mine has even detached from the case. It's not reliable. Get another external case.Beside this, the top design is nice. If it would only work...
Didn't work . This enclosure was incredibly difficult to open, despite missing the single screw that is supposed to keep the case closed. Once I got the drive installed, my Win7 laptop was unable to connect to it. It didn't work on my USB 3.0 ports at all (despite the fact that my other two USB3 drives work), and on USB 2.0 ports, it would connect and disconnect immediately. I ended up buying another enclosure that worked perfectly out of the box.
Will not work at all . I have tried to connect the enclosure to two different USB 3.0 controllers: one from best buy (rocketfish) and the one inside my new laptop. It will not work with either even though the drive spins up and the ultra bright power LED comes on. I cannot recommend this.
Misleading Picture. Poor Workmanship and Quality . This is the worst external 2.5 inch HDD enclosure I've ever came across. The picture on Amazon's website maked this product look very elegant and well designed. But it is far from the truth. I only had the unit a week and the custom connector has broked.

The enclosure is design like a drawer, to install the drive you must loosen the screw and slide the metal part back. But due to its design and plastic material chosed. The enclosure is very difficult to slide open and close. The USB 3.0 interface board is poor assembled. And the HDD is not secure with any screws except by the mating SATA connector between HDD and interface board. There wer no usable manual included with the enclosure to detail how to remove and close the metal cover. Documentation is horrible where they might as well just don't put anything in its packaging. The plastic tray that house the HDD seem to be made from recycle plastic. The metal cover is a highly polished mirror finish steel cover. It scratch very easily.

I was able to test the enclosure when it was still functional. Under Win7 OS copying large files (Total of 15GB), I was able to maintain speed of 50MB~60MB per second when it was connected to an USB 3.0 port. For the price Amazon is selling this enclosure for, I would have expected better build quality than what I have encounter. This enclosure's quality is what you you expect of out $9~$12 OEM enclosure.

I would not recommend this enclosure to anyone who is looking for an enclosure for 2.5 inch SATA HDD with USB 3.0 interface. The transfer speed is very fast and stable, but the poor workmanship and cheap material make this a bad choice to buy.
