Coolest Looking Portable Hard Drive Ever . If you are very particular about how your stuff looks, then this is definately a portable drive for you. The Iomega Skin Drive designs are quite nice and do have a coolness factor above the rest. Ofcourse you could do a custom skin for any drive, but why spend the money on that?
It has 500GB of storage in Fat32 format and contains no software on the physical drive. You have the option to download all of that from the Iomega Site. I prefer it this way instead of me having to delete all the crapware (or not crapware) from the drive. If you're going to use it with a Playstation 3, leave it as fat32 otherwise convert it to NTFS to copy those large movie files over. The Skin drive comes with a USB cable with the dual usb connector. What's that? That means no need to worry about providing enough power to the device when you plug it into you laptop. for the price I paid of 89 bucks plus tax, its comparable to other 500gb portable drives. So why not get something in style?

So far so easy. . This external Hard Disc Drive was plug & play on my 10 year old Dell D600 laptop. I shopped around, this was a good price, and the product does not clutter things or slow you down with unwanted software. I plugged it in, and in moments I was copying 30 gigs of photos that were weighing down my laptop. It's quick, and there is no power cord, just runs off the usb. Simple.

Iomega Skin 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive 35104 (Sliver) Opinions
Good size mobile storage drive . Had a four week shoot in Europe which needed weekly shipping of footage and stills back to the US. We already had a bunch of USB portable drives - but I needed a master one - to keep a local copy while the other material was in transit. 500GB is a good size and enough storage for what we needed.
The dropguard feature is a plus - but of course you never know if it will actually work unless you test it to destruction. The `cool' look was useful in that the drive was easy to spot in a pelicase of accessories on the shoot - the other portable drives being industry standard silver and all about the same size.
No problems with transferring the MOV and RAW image files at the end of every day - performance was what you'd expect and no issues playing back the MOV files from the drive to the laptop. You'd really only notice if something was wrong rather than right - so the drive had no issues is about the best I can say.
Didn't use the accessory software. We're Mac based and first thing I did was partition the drive when it arrived from Amazon. I have no need for Retrospect (used it years ago and didn't like it at all) or the online backup system - we were off the grid for days at a time so had to rely on local backups anyway.
Performed as expected. Good price point and plenty of storage space.
I'll be using it again on the upcoming shoots in Europe and Middle East and it has become the main storage tank for material on the road, with copies being shipped on our older, smaller drives.

RED HOT!!! . I needed a HDD to compliment my Red Sony VAIO notebook and this is perfect. It's transfer speed is great and I some times forget I'm lugging it around with my notebook. It definitely stands out compared to the other portable HDD I've seen. It doesn't run hot either which is a plus. Great product.
Works great and looks slick. . I've had this hard drive for a few weeks now and it works like a champ. Most important with any of these portable hard drives is they work correctly, and this one does. It also has a slick look to it with the black & yellow, plus the design.
A high-value portable HD . I have more than one reason to like this Radical skin. I selected it particularly for its rough appeal and the safety feature of Dropguard. A cool design which I tossed when I flaunted it before my friend and there it dropped to the floor. The dropguard feature slipped my mind for a moment, however when I checked if it still works I was glad it did. Iomega has certainly lived upto its claim about the device's dropproof feature. Quite impressed with Iomega Radical's ruggedness, my friend has bought one and the Red hot. Because of the drive's small body, trendy design and high speeds, I take it with me like my ipod whenever I go out.
Super Drive . I ordered this 500 gig drive at a great price, and am very happy with it! It is a very nice package and seems to have been designed with a good deal of thought. Functional and cool all in one package!
Slick red works good . Oh this one looks like a hard drive dipped in tomato ketchup. But I love the style quotient of this drive. It is good looks combined with uncompromising functionality.
Knockout rocks . Basically a cool-looking hard drive is all I wanted, whioch doesn't at the same time compromise on performance and price. Skin KnockOut served both.
Attractively designed storage device . I appreciate the idea of a break from mundane-looking external hard drives. Wished to have more unique designs and also changed the skin of some of my existing hard drives. When I knew about this series, I was eager to check this out and I returned with a Red 35108. It is compact, different-looking from the usual stuff and quite a good performer.
